These are probably the lightest weight pants ever. However, be aware that they sit low on the waist. Inseam is short and high. If you've no hips & no belly, then okay. Should you decide to go up a size figuring that would compensate....don't. That'll just make them overall looser & baggier while still setting low. Having said that, otherwise, these are the least baggy cutoffs I've ever worn. Because of the low rise, that's why I could only give them 4 stars.

Fantastic for hot weather hiking I'm sure, but not for anything else. Fabric is a very thin, strange feeling nylon.

Depending on whether you think thin material is good or bad..these are a little on the thin side. But of course they will dry faster. And they're really light weight. I don't think they would be very sturdy with a lot of abrasion..like sitting on a rock. The waist band could have a little more substance to it..it does tend to roll especially with the little belt (easily removed) that comes with it. Waist is a button not a snap that some competitors have. But that's good I think. I might get another pair in a different color.

I bought these for my husband, he is tall and thin. Normally wears a 34" waist but these were far too tight. ordered 36" waist and too big. Also the rise was very short so there was no way to squat or move without most likely ripping out the crotch or back seam. The fabric and construction are good, just the fit was odd. Of course, as always, great service from Zappos!

I have a pair of gray ones, for almost 2 years. I wear them year round and often use the zip off feature to get to shorts (warmer weather). When it rains, the material is awesome - not water proof, but it repels a bit and dries so darn fast! So these fossil colored pants I just bought, they seem just a tad thinner (material) and the belt and belt loops seem to be just a bit different than the gray ones. Also the waist of 34" seems larger on the Fossil than with the gray. But otherwise they fit the same and function the same. Like them a lot.

I wish there were a greater choice in insane length. Getting slacks shorted is a nuisance.

It seems that whenever I buy the same pants you have changed some of the features I really like. For example the older pair had a zippered rear pocket which is now Velcro and the colors now offered are a lot darker than previous orders. I keep rebuying them because I do like them.

I purchased these pants for an upcoming European trip so I haven't used them as planned as yet. Will say they are as advertised, nicely made, lightweight and the color is good. I suspect they will perform as desired and having not put them through their paces is the only reason I am giving them good ratings.

Good product, great for travel, fast drying and fairly priced. The fifth pair of convertible pants I have had from several companies and is the best all around.

Adventure racers and orienteers love this pant because the ripstop sheds all the thorns, thistles and all those plants that stick to most pants. I love them for this, and they dry quickly too.
However they ride a little low on the hip, the crotch is short and the thighs are a bit small. I can feel them pulling my legs when running through the woods or semi-rough open areas. I can feel them restricting my range of motion when hurdling fallen branches or tree trunks. These actions also pull the pants down, so I have to pull them up. The belt is a little thin and cuts into the skin when tightened.
Overall, a nice pant for crossing through rough terrain, but they are made for the thinner crowd; not for athletic bodies (try the relaxed fit).

I like the lightness and durability of the material. The pockets are ample, the front zipper tracks easily, and the pants are convertible to shorts. What's troublesome is the sizing. The pants run true to form in length, but the waist and hip size are not appropriately sized for me. I had to jump to the next waist size, a 36 instead of a 34, which works well for me in most pants.

Purchased for my "go ashore bug out bag" as an emergency change of clothes. Wanted the lightest convertible I could find. Works fine for that. Size seems to run smaller than other brands.

Good fit and confortable. Same pant in a heavier fabric would be a nice option.

These pants wear great, feels like you've nothing on except around the waist. My wife likes the fact that they're wash and dry - no ironing needed. I have the green and beige. Highly recommend these. Also like the feature of the zip-off legs for shorts.

The color choice for these pants are great. They look really good and fit nicely, although they do seem a little longer in the leg than what you purchase. I have to roll mine up so I don't walk the hem off the bottom. I haven't converted them to be used as shorts yet, but i'm sure they work fine. The pockets could be a little deeper - everything falls out of the front pockets when you sit down. The crotch could be a little larger or have some stretch to it for some added comfort. They keep me cool as I work in hot and humid environments, but I would not recommend these for skilled trade type work.

Exactly as described in catalog as far as look, material and function. Have not worn them in an outdoors situation yet, but they will be my main pants in my upcoming trip to the Solomon Islands. Giving 4 stars instead of 5 stars because I haven't worn them in the field yet.

I'm a size 34 waist and have been a long time. These pants are tight in the waist and crotch. Buy the next size up to be safe.
Otherwise a good pair of convertible pants.

I like the pant, they are well constructed. Heat comes off easily and water evaporates quickly. The fit is a little to slender/slim for my liking, however they usually loosen up after a day on the trail. The built in belt is a nice feature, in fact I switch it between my different trail pants. I found that the Blood and Guts II pant has a better fit for my liking.

Great pants but they are to "baggie". Slimmer fit would be MUCH better.

I ordered these for working in hot humid areas in the middle east. I'm 5'6" and normally wear a 36X30 or 38X30 size pants. I ordered the 38X30 just to ensure they would fit. The waistline seemed pretty decent, but it's just a tad bit long. Either way, they seem to be pretty decent as far as being lightweight and easy to wear. The durability factor I can't really comment on, as I have an office job.
