I travel from cold climates to warm climates on long plane rides. This will prove useful to meet the baggage weight restrictions. Good quality.

We checked several resources for convertible pants for my husband to wear on safari in Africa. Other brands ran very baggy, or had zippers at the ankle (which is great for boots, but not if you need to shorten the pants). These fit my very slim husband beautifully, looked really nice on, came in great colors, and he who never gets excited about clothes, was actually excited about these pants. Now if only I could find pants so easily!

This is a great pant--not too baggy yet very light and comfortable. I have several pair of these and wear them almost daily. They are durable, water resistant to a point, however will shrink minimally if machine dryed enough. Zippers never stick and are easy to move up, down or around. Size runs true to fit, Excellent for all outdoors except extreme cold.

I have tried all kinds of hiking pants from various companies. This is my go-to pant now. I took 4 pair on a trip to the Caribbean recently; they worked fantastic. I have the convertible, so technically I had pants and shorts. The material is thin enough so walking in the heat is not uncomfortable - even as pants. And they are quick drying, so if you sweat or have to wash them in a hotel sink they will be dry within an hour or two. I wear a 32 waist, but had to go up to 34 as the 32 waist in this pant was just a wee bit snug. Highly recommended!!

I was not able to find the style and size in the store, but was able to go on line and order the style and size, and was able to get it before Christmas, since it was a Christmas gift. Thank you for getting it here on time.

The pants are great. I use them for golf and wear them long in the colder mornings and then short as the day warms up.

Well made and true to size. I wear a 34x32 dress pant and these fit perfectly. I bought them for hiking but they are so comfortable and quick drying I bought a second pair.

Love these pants! I travel for fun a LOT and spend a lot of time in the wilderness. My clothing must be comfortable and fit well. It must be versatile. It must be durable. It has to be quick drying. It can't wrinkle easily. These pants fit the bill to a T. I bought 2 pairs. Wonderful clothing. Wonderful piece of gear. Wish they didn't cost so much but if they last 15 years, that's only $6/year. A worthy investment. Definitely a BUY.

Theses are a very comfortable convertible hiking pants. They save you having to pack more in since you can zip the legs off and you have shorts hence the reason I bought them. They are light, comfy, and are also UV protected so honestly what more could you ask. Got a pair for me as well as the GF and she wears them all the time. Just make sure you use a tape measure and use the sizing instruction correctly to get the best fit as there are a lot of sizing options and you want to get the best fit, especially in the women's sizes. In the men's it's probably a good idea to go up one size if you are close, I am usually in between a 36 and a 38 waist and usually always go 38 even though the sizing chart recommended a 36 I still went with a 38 so they would be a bit more comfortable.

You can never go wrong witha pair of convertible pants. Versatile, easy to wash and wear and light. I bought these for my husband who swears to only wear columbia convertibles. I thought they were a little snug on him, but he insisted they were comfortable and could move easily in them without restriction. Have to take his word, he's the one wearing the pants.

I have always liked Columbia products and have bought Silver Ridge before. These seem to be improved in that the buckle, button and zipper action work better making the front lie flatter.

Bought my first two pairs of silver ridges in 2008 and thoroughly thrashed them ever since. Have had competitors brands, but nothing has stood up to weeks of backcountry adventure, boulders, brush and sun like these! My worst pair still looks good enough to wear to town.

I LOVE these pants! These are practically the only pants/shorts I wear. I've have some of the REI Sahara convertible pants as well, but these Columbia pants are the reference standard as far as I'm concerned. My wife had to reinforce sew the button on 1 pair so far, but that's the only problem I've ever had with them.

Had 2 pairs from at least 10 years ago, and one just starting wearing thin. Wear them very often. The new ones seem just as good as my previous pairs and I hope they last as Long.

When in doubt about weather conditions, this is a versatile pants. Sometimes the movie theaters are too cold so my husband always wears the convertible pants. Very lightweight and easy to pack for trips too, especially in the summer. Only problem was color difficult to distinguish when making our selection. Wanted a grey so took gravel. Gravel is more of a green olive color. But that is ok because we plan to have more pairs of the convertible pants in different colors.

I bought a pair of these pants specifically for an extended trip to Thailand, and I'm glad I did. I bought them just slightly too big in the waist so that the crotch would have a loose, breezy, fit, and that worked out very well. (After a month in-country, my waist got smaller, so I had the side elastics tailored.) The thin nylon is the right weight for this hot, humid, place, and it breathes well. The pants dry very quickly, making them a great choice for travel anywhere. The pockets are durable and convenient. So far, I've worn them on the plane, then worn them daily for a week of running around Bangkok. I washed them, then lived in them for a week of beaches and beach towns. I washed them, then lived in them for a week at a forest monastery. Now I'm in Chiang Mai, wearing them as I write this review. I have another pair of nylon convertible pants, but they've been relegated to back-up status, being worn when the Silver Ridge pants were at the laundry. I only have two things to criticize: (1) The hook-and-loop patches on the pockets are too small and weak and tend to open under very mild stress, like sitting down with my wallet in my back pocket. The hook-and-loop patches should be at least twice as big. (2) The crotch is too tight for the waist size. Pants for tropical climates should be baggy so that you stay dry down there. I'm buying another pair when I return to the USA, so that I'll have two pair for my next trip to Southeast Asia.

I purchased a second pair of Men's Silver Ridge Convertible Pants since I liked the first pair so well. We recently spent three weeks traveling in Europe and these were my primary pants on almost all of our day trips. I have a medium build and wanted a pair of moisture wicking pants that weren't baggy like many cargo types but fit like regular pants, and these fit the bill. I also use them for extended day hikes and found them perfect for a full backpack trip of the John Muir Trail. They fit nicely, wick moisture very well, are comfortable, look good and are extremely durable. As an avid outdoor photographer, I'm on my knees frequently to capture macro photos of flora. I've had the pants a couple of years now and have yet to experience a rip or tear anywhere on them.

Might be the best, most comfortable pants I've ever owned. They are very light weight...which I love, and they fit great. I like them so much that I bought six pair...one of each color. Really like the way they comvert from regular long pants to shorts...very easy to go back and forth. I'm sure if there were more colors available I woulod order them.

I'm a guy that usually wears jeans for everything. I recently bought a pair of these pants and was blown away at how comfortable, light weight, cool these pants actually are. I'll never wear jeans for the outdoors again!

Love everything about theses pants. As a 6'2" guy and 220 lbs fit is important. The true to size of these pants was on the money. I have other pants like this but they have no fly. A bummer. These not have a fly but also have two pockets in back. I like to keep my wallet in one and a handkerchief in the other (for wiping my brow after reeling in that 30 lb trout!). I also liked the slimmer leg these pants have. Much more stylish than others I've tried. These pants are worth every penny.
