These are fantastic boots. I have them in cognac and in black. The back zip is the only way that I can wear Fryes. I have a high instep/arch and I am unable to get my foot to even enter a side zip boot. These boots are well made and very stylish. They just keep getting better with age. The soles are very slippery. Take care.

These boots are pretty darn great! I was able to wear them for a full night out after breaking them in at home for about two hours. They are very comfortable. I have worn them about four times now (twice out at night and twice to work all day) - they are getting more comfortable by the wearing. They feel a little tight at first. They will stretch out and the leather will soften, so I suggest getting your normal size. I have pretty wide legs/ankles and the shaft of these fit just fine (and they stretched a bit with each wearing). They look great with jeans (under or over jeans), leggings, and tights with a dress or skirt. Very versatile. This is my first pair of Frye Boots - so far, I get the hype! A final note: they are very comfortable as is, but I put a little insert in the bottom for extra support. They feel great and the insert fits in there perfectly!

I love these boots. I have received so many compliments from people of all ages. The leather is so beautiful and softer as you wear them. I had ordered the brown but settled on the red because I can wear them with so much including black or brown. My 1st pair of Frye boots and they are worth the money. I wear them with everything and they are so comfortable. Thanks for your customer service! you have spoiled me. Zappos is A+ and nothing else compares. The size is what I would normally wear.

These boots are beautiful and comfortable. I own several pairs of Frye boots (size 7) and these are right up there on my most comfortable list. I love the color but think it is truly taupe not a cool gray as I would have preferred. I love the leather inside and out. the zipper is solid and makes for easy on and off.

I ordered three different pairs of Fryes and these are the ones I kept. They are very well-made and comfortable. The buckle makes them a little edgy, but still cute enough to wear with a skirt or dress. I ordered my usual size 9 and they fit try to size. Looking forward to wearing these for years!

Great quality and comfort right out of the box. The leather is substantial not flimsy, but soft, especially the lining around the ankle. I wear between a 10.5 and 11, got the 11 and it was perfect. My foot is average width trending to the narrow side.

I tried these boots on in a local store in size 6. They were great, but just a little big. When I got home I checked to see if Zappos had a 5 1/2, and yes they did. I got the burnt red, and they are just perfect in every way! I appreciate other reviews by those who have actually worn the items...at least for a day or two. Just looking good is not enough! I'm happy to report these look great, feel super comfortable, and are well made. These just might be my favorite boots of all time! Thanks Zappos.

Oh my gosh, theses boots are amazing! I am wearing them as I write this review. They are so cool looking! I ordered the Camel soft and are they ever, soft and beautiful color. The minute I put them on I loved how they fit my feet. I ordered my size and they fit like a nice pair of leather gloves. They were delivered as expected one day! At no charge! Thanks, Zappos. I just purchased these boots and they fit snug at first because you have to wear them with a decent sock. I have been wearing them inside to give them time to stretch out, which they have done. They are really cute, and they are comfortable. I would highly recommend them. I am not a high heel type of girl and this is perfect style boot for me.

I love the look of these boots. Super well made, totally bombproof. Breathable. Cute with jeans if you don't want to be casual and stylish but don't want to wear heels. The distressing is moderate, just enough to make it look like they aren't brand new. However, like most Frye boots I've since tried they run quite narrow. I wish I had tried a 1/2 size up. I wish Fryes came in a wide version! I still wear them, but can't walk in them all day. They are pretty comfortable if I don't have to walk for a long time. My first pair had a defect and to upper separated from the sole; Frye's replaced them right away. Great customer service. Since then I haven't had any problems.

Like the look of this boots. I own several pairs of Frye shoes and this winter want to buy a pair of boots from them as well, I selected my normal wear size (6.5), however, they are too small / narrow for me, at least need a half size up, especially with thicker socks in the winter, and they are very tight around the toes, hopefully as other review mentioned it will be adjusted after few hour breakin. I am sending them back to exchange a 7.

I have noticed that these particular boots from Frye have lots of reviews and they are quite positive. Same response from me. This is my third pair of Phillip Harnesses. I wore them right out of the box. I ordered two or three other styles before this since I already had two Phillip Harness. I am not sure - one might have been called Veronica Shortie, and the other Jayden Shortie. The shaft on those was a little too short and a little too small in circumference for my lifestyle. I live on a ranch. They would have been great for urban gals - pretty. But I returned to the Phillip Harness which is so comfortable, a bit rugged and outdoors in style. I am very pleased.

The brand that is made as solidly as they were in the Civil War. These are top quality boots and shoes. For anyone having an issue with zippers, where applicable, I suggest that you run graphite (pencil lead) or candle wax or bar soap over the zipper to make to run smoothly until it is broken-in. That is no big deal.

Wonderful red boots! Very comfortable and stylish. I wear these with my leggings! I get more compliments in these boots every time I ear them! You won't go wrong purchasing these boots. I love Frye products!

Plan to put in gel inserts for even more cushioning since we'll be sightseeing for hours on end. I'm a 7M and these fit well. They're not too narrow for my foot and the zippers do require a little exertion but they zipped up after a couple of tugs -- and my jeans were tucked in. I'm 5"3 in case that helps. Also, Zappos is awesome. I shipped these to an out-of-town address but the UPS person came 2 hours after I left for the airport to return home. Zappos notified UPS not to deliver, handled it as an exchange, and I had another pair sent overnight. Amazing customer service.

I have NEVER written a review, but just felt a need to share this! I LOVE these boots! I have the burnt red vintage and receive admiring compliments every time I wear them. I normally would not pay this much, but my husband had a pair for years he loved, but they no longer fit him as his feet have grown. (Frye needs to make size 14 in mens!). I ordered my regular size and they were tight initially as I have a Bunyan on my right foot. I was determined to keep them and eventually they stretched and formed to my feet! The zipper is tight, but my husband ran the lead of the pencil up and down a few times which helped. I have had these for almost a year! They are awesome!

I love this harness low heel boot. No break in time needed. Plenty of room for your toes. Not narrow. So comfy. Look great with a pair of jeans. True to size. LOVE!

Built to last a lifetime! I ordered these in both size 9 and 9.5. Size 9 was just a little bit tight when I first put it on 4 hrs ago. After just walking around the house with them over the afternoon, they have totally transformed into a custom fit that is just perfect. Interestingly, the leather is really thick and high quality, so it is surprising tha they conform so quickly. The workmanship is excellent and they will truly last a lifetime. Don't be scared to order true to size. These are so comfortable and don't rub in any wrong places. The zippers work as smooth as silk too. I didn't have the same experience as other reviewers. I have a high maintenance foot to fit, so it was amazing to hit a home run on the first try with these. Buy them!

I haven't had a pair of Fry boots in years. I received my boots in several days after the order and they are ausome. So comfortable and looked just like the pict. They fit perfect. I ordered my usual size, I wasn't sure if I should go up 1/2 size but I am glad I didn't. Very happy with my choice.

I am super pleased with these boots. They have just the right amount of rebel-chic and the distressing gives them that broken-in look without looking like they've seen their last days. I wear them with everything, skinny jeans, boyfriend jeans--even my sweats. They were completely comfortable from the start. No breaking in needed. I ordered a size 5.5, I am a true 5.5, and I feel they were slightly big. I put an insole inside to fill some space and now they're perfect.

My 17 year old daughter absolutely loves these boots. She got the "cognac stone antiqued" finish and is thrilled with the way it looks -- perfect amount of distressing. They are her "go to" boot to wear with her jeans and she says she gets tons of compliments on them. We had one problem with the initial pair sent -- the inside cover of the zipper on one of the boots was defective and so the zipper was cutting into the back of her ankle. I saw immediately what the problem was and Zappos sent her a new pair, which were just fine. As to sizing, she is a 10 with a narrow foot and says the 10 fits her very comfortably. My assessment is that these boots are expensive but worth the investment given the quality of the boot and the terrific styling.

I've had these boots for about 3 years. I've liked them since they first arrived, but wanted to make sure they didn't absorb water stains. So, I polished them with regular, brown shoe polish which changed the leather from a weathered look to a shiny, sophisticated look. Then I sprayed them with water protection and they have never had a single water stain, even in rainy or snowy weather. I've had them polished twice at airports by the "pros" and now they look even better! They're super comfortable, very warm, easy to zip on and off, and look great with jeans and casual pants. And at 5' 8", I love that they make me another inch taller. Worth every penny I paid for them.
