I was hesitant to order these boots due to some other reviews but I did anyway and I am so glad that I did. I ordered a 7.5 which is my normal shoe size and they fit perfectly. I have a wider foot and I have no issue with the boots being too narrow. Also, I do not have skinny calves, mine are about 14"-15" and I can zip the boots up fine. The zipper is a bit difficult to zip at first but the more I wear them the easier they are becoming to zip. Yes, the bottoms are slippery but I just went out on my front sidewalk and scuffed the bottoms a little and they are fine. The more I wear them the less slippery they are. I love the rear zipper and I just love the look and feel of these boots, they are very comfortable. You can tell the leather is high quality too, I know I will wear these boots for years and years. I'm very happy with my purchase.

Absolutely love these boots, probably the most stylish I have ever owned. Definitely order half a size up... and you still won't be able to fit thick boots. Comfortable they are not, but worth it when you want something really snazzy looking!

Love these boots, perfect style, unique color, they look great on...I have to be careful walking on carpeted areas as the bottoms are slick, and I found a great trick to get them zipped up without any snags. Great quality.

I ordered these boots in Smoke (brownish grey) Waxed Veg and Cognac Vintage Leather. My usual shoe size is a 7 (although my winter boot size is a 7.5 in Sorels). It turns out that I need a 7.5 in Fryes if I'm ever going to wear them with thick socks, which I will. The zippers are a bit tricky, as several people have noted, and they are pretty slippery soled to start with. I noticed that the vintage leather boots were a much lower quality of leather than was used for the waxed vegetable dyed boots. My calves are 12.5" and the boot circumference was perfect for me. My floor-to-knee height is 15.25", and I can bend my knee to 90" comfortably, although not much further than that.

I love the feel and look of the leather on these boots! They are snug while being broken in, I hope they stretch a bit, I ordered my usual size. They are very comfy otherwise and easy to walk in for long periods of time but the soles are still a little slippery after wearing them several times so I wouldn’t wear them in ice and snow yet until I can’t rough up the bottoms more.

I already own these boots in light brown. I love them and wear them often. Was so happy to get a pair in black. The smell of new Frye boots is akin to that “new car smell” you want to savor. The leather is beautiful. The zippers work well. The calf is narrower than most boots but by no means snug on never. I actually have an 8.5 in my brown boots but in the black I went with an 8 because they fit better. Very happy with my purchase!

I really like these boots. I'm still breaking them in, and right now the left boot pinches my Achilles tendon where the zipper is. But with thin socks and wearing them on alternate days, I haven't really had much trouble. I think they will be OK once I wear them more. I've had no trouble with the zippers working smoothly. They fit my calves fine even with knee-high wool socks underneath. They look really nice, and are well made. I like the harness ring. I bought the black veg waxed color and it is beautiful. Overall as happy with this pair of boots as I probably could be. They were on sale and that was great. I expect to wear them out, and will avoid wearing them on snowy days as the smooth leather sole would be slippy on ice. But they are great for indoors and even rainy? day wear.

The Holy Grail for skinny legs. These fit my 12.5" calves. I had no trouble finding boots to fit me in the 70s and 80s, but since then, boots (all of them) have gone plus-size. I've been looking for a pair to fit me for years. These are also the perfect height on me, but I'm short. Check the shaft height before ordering if you're tall. The dark brown brush-off color just looks black. If you're very close you can see some small touches of brown, but people's eyes generally aren't that close to your boots...

I have been eyeing these boots for awhile. Stylish, kinda rugged not so uptight looking boot. This fits the bill perfectly! I purchased the black regular. Not extended size. I know some reviews said it was a tight feel on the calf. I am 5 9' about 145lbs. calves are normal and they fit beautifully. They are not a loose boot at all but fit over my leggings wonderfully! Other comments where about the zipper being hard. It is at first, but be patient and zip it a few times. Works like a charm! These boots are so stylish looking and so well made! I am normally a 7 1/2-8 in shoe size. I bought the 8 and perfection! So, i would error on the 1/2 up for comfort if you are one of those inbetweeners. Also, the shipping with zappos was UNBELIEVABLE, QUICK and packaged perfectly! Thanks Zappos for an amazing purchasing process. A+.

The look of these boots is amazing. I love the style and the harness detail, and the quality is top notch. I’m 5’2”, with relatively short legs, and the height of these are perfect, they hit about a half inch below my knee. I ordered these in the wide-calf style, and while they fit me perfectly (13.5 in calf), I’m not sure they could accommodate a calf much larger than my own. My only reservation about these boots is how slippery they are; absolutely no traction whatsoever.

If a riding boot can be called sexy...this is it! Rich smooth black leather, clean timeless lines, and the comfort you can only get in an all leather boot. I have found out the hard way that synthetic products do not “breathe.” However, if you just want a fashion boot for occasional wear...I get it...Frye products do have a much higher price point. However, with proper care, Frye products will last for years. If you need a great looking boot for every day wear, go with these. One item of concern are the zippers...they tend to need coaxing...a little zipper wax cured mine. I hope the Frye Organization is looking into this issue, as I have seen many posts of same problem. But you cannot deny the beauty of this offering! My normal size 7B fits perfectly and was comfortable right out of the box.

I wear a size 9, sometimes a 9.5. Being a boot with a narrow toe box, I thought I'd be safe and get a 9.5. There is a bit of room in the toe area, I could have gone with my regular size. This is my first pair of Frye boots, and OMG, the leather is amazing! I've never seen another pair of boots like it. The style is great. I have very thin calves, so the width is good for me, even has a little gap. However, it seems pretty snug in the ankle area. For me, it fits like a glove, but could be a problem area for thicker ankles. One note, the sole is very slippery. There is no grip whatsoever. It is smooth.

Runs small. I couldn’t get my foot in at my size but a half a size bigger fit perfectly. Beautiful boot, style is amazing.

Wonderful boots! I love Frye boots but have been unable to wear them because I have high arches and have trouble getting the pull-on styles on. These have a zipper up the back and fit beautifully. Excellent quality and style.
