I have never owned chukka boots before but, living in upstate NY, I was looking for some winter footwear that would work business attire. I read many reviews and looked at a lot of products but, the Born Axe II came in at the correct price point and look. I've been wearing them for about 3 weeks now and have found them to be completely comfortable. I don't have a lot of input about longevity but, they are very comfortable and fit true to size. (I wear a size 14, and these have plenty of room).

I did not think that I would be able to find a pair of full leather chukka boots that would compare with my LL Bean's. I did. Nice job Zappos!

I was looking for a nice semi-dressy boot. One that I could wear to work, around the town, or even to a nice dinner. These are it! The black leather is soft and supple, with just the right amount of give and support. The stitching is a subtle highlight, a shade of red/tan, and gives a dressy feel to them. And they are not to bulky or heavy. The tread is good, although I haven't taken them off-roading, they've been good in all around town wear. Inside, they are very comfortable. I also wear/love Keen shoes, and I've found these to be comparable to them in fit and feel. The insoles are great, not too soft, not too stiff. So, if you are looking for a comfortable boot that is simple, classy, with a touch of "dressy", then these are it.

I've had the black version of these boots for about 5 months now and I love them. I cannot over-emphasize how comfortable they are. They are surprisingly breathable, too. I usually wear a size 10.5 or 11 in athletic shoes, so I got these in 10.5 and they fit perfectly. Great work all around as far as construction, and there are no signs of premature wear and tear after near daily use. The soles are very sturdy with an interesting texture to them. One thing to note -- the soles do not get good traction on slick, wet surfaces (like tile), so consider yourself warned.

I only knocked a star of for style because they are pretty plain (right for me though). Obviously high quality construction - you can feel it. The footbeds are a permanent part of the shoes. If you plan to remove the insole to replace with your own, you cannot do it with these shoes since there is nothing to remove. I use Superfeet insoles In all of my shoes. Things worked out well though because my feet are just a little narrower than a normal D width, so when I put my insoles on top of the built in footbeds, they provided the extra filler that I needed to make the shoes fit perfectly for me. I have never heard of this brand before, but I can already tell that I will be buying them again in the future.

I bought these in great anticipation of a that great Born fit and comfort. I love the style and the length was fine. But I was very disappointed in that the boot was too wide for my foot. Normally D width (the only width available in this shoe) fits me fine, especially with Borns. But not this one. I was sad to have had to return them.

Nothing like replacing a 10 year old pair of Born with a new pair. This is my fourth pair of Born, each one has lasted 8+ years (one pair 12 years). Eventually the soles will crack/split, but it takes a long long time for that to happen. If you take the time to treat the leather yearly, they will look the same year after year. Note, they do run about 1/2 size larger and since they are make with quality leather they will need a break in period. So for sizing go with the length of the shoe, not the width. They will/should be tight at first, but give them time and you will love them. Compared to other similar boots, they price and quality is right, and they will last a long time...easy five stars.

I'm enjoying these boots. I use them as dress shoes - but will probably end up using them for hiking in the colder months. They seem unusually well made. In general I don't like shoes with non-removable cushioned footbeds...they are bound to lose their cushion effect or wear out and I was surprised to find that these shoes had them. But these are okay - although the footbed required some wearing in...a bit uncomfortable the first few days. I think that these will be long-lasting boots.

Born boots are superbly crafted and comfortable as hell. I wanted this boot in black leather but they weren't making that color at the time so I bought this color instead. Never go wrong buying Born. Highly recommended for style, comfort, and wearability. Not the cheapest for sure, but definitely worth the price. Quality!

My Born Axe II are super comfortable and very style-ish...the price point for these was affordable. I've received nice compliments about this pair of boots. The brand Born makes "comfortable " boots that don't hurt at the end of the day!

These boots are awesome! Sick look with just about anything. First pair of boots that were good to go from the start. They are very comfortable, perfect fit. I will be buying many more Borns.

These are great boots! They were super comfortable from the minute that I slipped them on. No breaking in time was needed. They are nicely lined and with a good insert. They run true to size. I had placed an order for a pair of Red Wing boots earlier in the week that cost much more. I returned them immediately as they would have taken months to break in.

Agree with the other reviews--very comfortable. Can be worn both casual and business/casual, spot on for winter.

First pair of boots I put on and immediately said, are these the best pair of boots I have ever owned? HELL YES! Very true to size, and wicked comfortable. They remind me of the USMC jungle boots when I put them on... Great boots!

Great pair of shoes. Didn't take long to break in. The color and finish matched what I saw on the internet. Shipped in a timely manner. Owned a different style of Born shoes prior...very happy with this brand. Overall very happy. Would have like to have a little more arch support.

I purchased my first pair of these boots a little over a year ago, I am a UPS delivery driver and have wore these boots almost every day I have worked in the past year, the inner sole is just now breaking down, for a boot to last me one year is awesome, very comfortable and durable boots!

These shoes seem to run a bit large. They are GREAT looking and add support to the ankles. My son has cerebral palsy and walks with crutches. These are the perfect shoes for him. I can't say enough about customer service at Zappos. When the shoes arrived and I discovered they were too big, I called customer service and they immediately sent another pair without waiting for me to send the other pair back! Zappos is the best!

These are the most comfortable boots i have ever bought. I work in a factory and needed a solid leather boots but i didnt want a safety boot. These have the comfort of a tennis shoe with the sturdiness of a leather boot. i would Recommend My only complaint is the leather is a little soft so i am worried they may not last as long as a normal boot. I have only had them a week and they appear to be holding up fine so far.

My husband doesn't write reviews, so I will write this for him. He bought his first pair of Born Axe IIs at Dillards. He loves this boot because of the big toe box and the sturdy sole. My husband is a blacksmith, so shoes have to be tough and comfortable (lots of standing). He completely wore his first pair out. Then Dillards didn't carry the boot anymore (naturally). When I found this on Zappos, there was no question. He said, "BUY THEM." They are perfect. He loves them.

These are great boots! They fit perfectly and feel great. The first pair of shoes that I bought that didn't need to be broken in and felt so comfortable out of the box. The tread on the outer sole is a little different than a typical boot, but they seem durable and grip well enough. I've only had them for about a month so far so I'm not sure how well they will hold up, but they seem to be doing pretty good so far.

As always, Born delivers with this pair of boots. The break in period is a day or two, then the fit is perfect. Very comfortable for someone that is on there feet all day. I highly recommend these boots.

I have had foot pain and problems since the age of 12. I am always struggling to find footwear that is comfortable. These Born boots are hands down the best in comfort that I have ever come across. I even bought a second pair. Give them a try I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I bought these to replace my Born Digsbys, which I am still wearing after 12+ years, but they are finally getting cracks in the sole. Love a utilitarian, lace-up oxford. Currently, Born isn't offering a women's shoe like of Digsby, so I took a chance on these since I have a wide foot. Well, if it is any help to someone out there, my usual Born size is W9, and the M8 fits just fine, even giving me the nice extra width not available in W9. Roomy toe box and the lace-ups adjust to thin or thick socks (I have tried both). I look forward to getting many years of comfort out of these.

Comfortable describes these shoes in one word. They remind me of an old pair of Ecco's I had. No breaking in and snug but not tight. My only complaint is that they scuff really easily, but that's more of a lifestyle side effect as my shoes sometimes migrate from casual to work for temporary situations. Overall, very happy I bought them and will just have to be more careful if I want them looking neat.

Great boots! I liked the black ones so much, I got the brown ones, too. The black ones stretched a bit, but insoles took care of that and made them even more comfortable.
