These are super cool. I have always run on XA 3D Pros. These fit appreciably different. The back heel comes up a bit higher - which is a good thing. They feel softer than my gortex Salomons - also a good thing. I get crabby when I can feel large gravel and stones. I feel like these treads will fix that. I tested them out on my very snowy/icy driveway and was astounded at the grip compared to my worn XAs. I cannot wait to give them a real test.

I bought these shoes to wear at the gym for various classes. They are amazing! I can wear these all day without having my feet hurt! The only thing I don't like about them is the way you tie, or don't tie, the shoestrings. I hate having to wad the laces up into the little pouch. It just seems to take a little longer to do. Love the artistic design of these shoes. They make a statement of individuality.

Having a wide, short hard-to-fit foot, I usually take a beautiful pair of shoes from the box and am disappointed to find that I can hardly walk in them. The Speedcross 3 (in the green tea/chalk grey color) came out of the box looking decidedly funky, and I just tried them on out of curiosity. What a wonderful surprise! I agree with other reviewers that they run larger (probably 1/2 size larger), but they worked well with my wide foot. There was a definite sense of cushioning and arch support, and I think that the way one sinks down into the tread gives a sense of additional cushioning. I think that those who appreciate minimalist shoes who would like just a little support and cushioning might enjoy this shoe. Thank you, Zappos!

These are my new favorite shoes! I have tons of running shoes in my closet and wear all different brands but these are by far my new favorites. I am a personal trainer and am on my feet a lot. The color (black with red accents) is awesome and I get tons of compliments. I am not a trail runner or even a runner for that matter but love the way these feel and look. The nubby pieces on the bottom that help give them grip for trail running gives them an extra little bit of bounce and support. I have to give Zappos a huge five star rating as I have been a customer for a very long time and they really are the best. I am extremely picky and they always take care of me! You guys really do rock!

I haven't even had these shoes for two weeks and I'm recommending them to everyone already. Ran 14 miles in snow and mud last weekend. My feet were dry and warm. I am used to running in more minimalist shoes and I thought that these shoes seemed kind of bulky when I received them but I think they are wonderful. They are comfortable, the sole is more flexible than it first seems, and there was no break-in period at all. They are just what I needed to get outside in the winter months. Not to mention, they look totally bad ass. You'll feel like you can take on the world.

The shoe is ever so slightly on the large side. I always wear a 7 1/2 but could almost get away with a 7. Do not size up with these shoes. Very light, good support, and beautiful colors. The tread is great, I can't wait to try them out on a wet surface. Extremely comfortable right out of the box. I love the quick lace system. I was so impressed with these shoes that I ordered a second pair for myself and one for my husband.

This is THE SHOE I have been looking for. I'm not a trail runner, but I shoot a lot of trap and suffer from heel pain. The Speedcross 3 has helped so much with the pain I have been experiencing. The support and cushioning is unbelievable! I loved these so much, I had to get another pair. Not only are they great for shooting, I also wear them for pure comfort out and about. I've had several compliments on them, too. Note that the color of these is NOT really purple. It's more of a deep magenta/fuchsia. I love these shoes!

Had my first run with these tonight, and if it wasn't love at first wear, this sealed the deal. The traction is phenomenal - this is my first winter I've committed to running through, and I'd say they've promised and delivered! They fit just the way you'd want a running shoe to, nice and light, low profile on the front end, but a good solid heel. I've tried a number of shoes with this style "lacing" and this is the first time I've felt it was more than just a cumbersome good-idea-with-poor-execution. Oh, and the fact that they're pretty stunning to look at in real life doesn't hurt, either! First Salomon shoes, but sure not to be my last.

I wanted shoes that would be good for wintery run/hikes on the trails here in Nashville. I usually spend an hour or two running over rocks, roots, and sometimes a little mud and wanted to feel safe and supported, plus I did not want to worry about getting my feet wet. I am hoping for a run in light snow with these. Anyway, these shoes are perfect for my needs. They are supportive, the lacing system is great and they're comfortable. Maybe a bit narrow compared to what I am used to running in. But it kind of just makes me feel more supported. I do my street and treadmill running in Asics. I am a size 6 in heels, 7½ in Asics (I like them roomy) and ended up with a 6½ in these. They run big - or they are sized like street shoes, not running shoes. Anyway, I love them and get non-stop comments and compliments on them - they are pretty flashy!

I have literally never loved a shoe more than this one. I'm a trail runner in Hawaii who has suffered broken feet, sprained and broken ankles and two foot surgeries so I'm definitely a "problem child" where finding the right shoe is concerned. And trust me, I've probably trail tested over a dozen. Nothing is as comfortable; nothing makes my feet even remotely this happy. My latest pair are still holding strong but I'm buying a second pair just in case! Mahalo Salomon, for keeping me on the trails and happy!

These shoes seem great. I had to return as I felt they were just too snug, I wear 10.5 and that's what I ordered. I'm not crazy about the pull tight laces or the wild coloring, but the shoe was nice and light w/ good arches. Wish it came in just a black or white color and normal laces. Soles seem good for traction.

Wonderful/great shoes, I really recommended, as soon as I got my shoes today from the mail I was using it inside the house and I was happy about it. I will order another 2 color and put it in my shoe drawer, very light shoes, very tiny laces and it really adds up for being a light too. I love Zappos, I will be your customer forever, my son likes it a lot. I will order 1 for my husband for Christmas gift.

Love these! First time I have ever bought this brand. I tend to supinate (roll outward) and these provide excellent stability. My arches are high and I do not have any pain after wearing these. They are a trail shoe but are still light enough for me to use as a cross trainer in the gym. I have gotten so many compliments on them! Very comfortable and crazy stylish!

These are great shoes. This is my second pair of Salomon trail runners and I think these are even better. Very supportive ankle and heel support which I need. And as a bonus, they're really fun looking too!

These are the best tracking shoes I have ever had. When running in rough terrain, they offer stability and comfort. I simply love these shoes, and the colors just make them even better.

I have never been so happy with a trail running shoe in my life. Very light, and great traction on difficult trails. So much so that my performance has markedly improved. I have a high arch and foot problems. This shoe has great cushion and supports my foot the way it should. I have tried to find this same shoe so I could buy another to keep on hand, but my size is not available! I'm not sure about the durability yet, as I haven't had them very long. It seems as if the lugs on the bottom are quite soft and may wear out quickly, but in the meantime they are great. Not sure I would wear these on any type of paved road to help keep them from wearing to quickly. Salomon has never disappointed me, but these are the best they've put out for me so far - Love them.

I cannot tell you how many times people stop me to ask me where I got these shoes. Women AND men! These shoes are super comfortable. I've only taken them on the trail once so far, but they have amazing traction.

I bought these shoes for hiking in the Grand Canyon, for side hikes and hiking out of the Grand Canyon. They were great, the bottoms have excellent grippers and the shoes are very comfortable. I didn't have to break them in, they had great cushioning and when they got wet from the creeks, they dried very quickly. I wear a 5 1/2 in tennis shoes but I order a 5 in these from previous reviews and they fit perfect. These shoes were awesome, worth the money. Everyone loved the shoes and commented on how cool they looked.

I purchased the size 8 in green and love them! I'm hiking from Aspen to Crested Butte with a group of women and needed a good pair of hiking shoes. These feel very comfortable, lightweight, and supportive. I didn't want to purchase boots or typical hiking shoes that are not so cute. These are stylish and I love the colors. Very fresh and bright. The size seems true to me... I always wear a size 8 and these are perfect with just the right amount of toe room for downhill hiking/trail running. Lacing system is nice and they have great traction. I've been wearing them around the house and on errands to break them in a little but they don't need it. I feel certain these will work out great on my upcoming group hike. Great buy.

Overall 4 out of 5 stars. 4 stars for great comfort in this trail shoe. My feet are never fatigued after a strenuous hike in these shoes. Great looking too. Stellar traction on rocky terrain. Beware they run a little large. Get 1/2 size smaller than usual. Minus one star for incompatibility with water and tread wear. Traction is seriously compromised when tread is wet. Only use in dry conditions. Tread wears pretty quickly considering the price of this shoe.

I have to say I'm still up in the air on these. I thought they would be a replacement for my Salomon XT Wings 3, which I absolutely love. (If anyone from Salomon is reading this, please bring back the XT Wings!) These are different from the XT Wings in 2 important respect, one good, one bad. On the plus side, the traction in the toe area is much-improved, and has remedied the one flaw I detected in over 200 miles of wear and tear on my XT Wings. On the negative side, they are much, much narrower than the Wings -- I'm not sure how these are remotely classified as medium in width. So, I'm still wearing them around the house to see if they are comfortable enough to go for a long trek in, or whether they simply should go back. Like all Salomons I've worn, you need to go down a half size from your standard size to get the right fit in the length.

Awesome looking shoes with great arch support. They do run 1/2 size smaller. My only complaint is that the toe box is a bit narrow. The adjustable laces help, but I'd prefer have a little more room in that area.
