Women's 11.5 (my usual size) was too short. I couldn't even get 1/4 or 1/2 thumb between the end of my toe and the end of my shoe. This size 12 was better, I could get almost a thumb size, especially if I used the real laces to hold my heel back. But you've flattened the instep or placed more material in the inside, and the result was that the bony protrusion on the top of my foot became so red and inflamed that I could wear no shoes, not even sheepskin bedroom slippers or sandals for over a day, even after taking Tylenol. I stopped wearing the womens sizes years ago and switched to the mens because of sudden styling problems, but thought I'd try again -- what a mistake. I hope you didn't do the same thing with the men's shoe, but it looks like it's the same cut as the women's, with a very low toe box as well.

I am a Brooks loyalist for the most part, and wore my Brooks Addiction 9's into the ground. I was excited to get the newer Addiction 10s. Brooks usually run about a half size small, so I ordered a half size up when purchasing these 10s. However, after about 5 minutes on the treadmill, my feet hurt. My feet felt tired and kind of squished after a short burst of running. I tried these again the next day using different socks and experienced the same feeling.
Brooks are normally great with no break in period required right out of the box. Sadly, these shoes had to go back to Zappos. I have ordered two other types of Brooks shoes with the hopes that these 10s were just a rare dud.
I would skip these Addiction 10s and look for a better fitting, more cushioned shoe. And as other reviewers have mentioned, this shoe is a bit challenged when it comes to aesthetics.

I've worn the Brooks "Trance" for years and decided to try the "Addiction" (I run @ 5 miles 3 times a week.) I found the Addiction to be very stiff, to transmit more shock, and less willing to conform to my foot. If you are looking for shock absorption running on a hard surface, this is NOT the shoe for you.

The feel of the shoe was great but the tongue of the shoe is thick and it cut into my ankle so I returned them.

I have been wearing the Addiction brand for several years and I always wear a wide width. I don't know what they did to these, but they are very narrow. Will either be sending it back for a double Wide or trying a different style all together. I have always loved Brooks b/c of their width sizing, because I don't feel like Bigfoot having to wear these. I don't know why they made these so narrow. I'm very disappointed since I have the Addiction 9 in a wide and they fit perfect. I hope Brooks reads this and fixes their width sizing.

The fit and comfort of this shoe is the worst I have ever experienced. I have discount store shoes that exceed the fit, comfort and quality of these. Learned my lesson. I will never try Brooks again.

I purchased these sneakers based on the review and knowledge that Brooks is a good brand. When I first got the shoes I wore them in the house to be sure they would be comfortable. When I decided to keep them I wore them outside. after the third or fourth time my feet started hurting in them. Too late to return. They are very stiff and uncomfortable for my feet. I tried wearing them many times after to see if they would get better. No luck. I am stuck with pricey sneakers that are not right for my feet and I cannot wear them.

Ugly shoe - I have Addiction 9 which I really like - this shoe is ugly, shoestrings are too short and it felt very stiff - I will wait for Addiction 11 and see if it is better.

I usually wear the Brooks Ariel. I bought these after being advised they would give me more support/motion control. They are VERY uncomfortable. It seems the toe box curves up on the outside so my toes do not lie flat. Causes numbness in the toes. I wore the shoes for several weeks with different insoles. Nothing helped. I've gone back to the Ariel.

Bummer! I really thought these would work for me, but they were too small, too narrow and basically no built in arch. The removable insole has no padding and no arch, but if you have your own orthotics you will be able to use. I'm not going to order up a size just because I can't make myself order a 12!

I am extremely disappointed in the durability of these shoes. I just started wearing them in late June for daily power walks, no running. The mesh over my left big toe has already worn through - the little leather toe cap on this style is too far to the outside edge to come close to where my toe actually is. I have worn the Addiction for many years and always wore the tread off before I had any issues with the body of the shoes. Not so with these. What a waste of money.
