The Orthaheel Walker has been more comfortable than a lot of the other shoes I have tried. I do wish that there was more padding in them however. I actually bruised the ball of my foot just walking on pavement! Its good, but I keep hoping for something better!

Comfortable walker, definitely way ahead of general sneakers in arch support. However, the arch is not as high in these as in the Tide flip-flops, and thus feels less supportive with my high arches. Nevertheless, these were comfortable to spend a day in, other than a spot where the wrinkles on the inside of the tongue irritated the top of my foot, which I suspect is just a breaking-in issue. Styling on the black ones leaves a bit to be desired; toe box is definitely wide, which is comfortable but not all that attractive. The leather design on these reminds me of my dad's orthopedic sneakers, especially on the toe which, since it's so wide, could pass for a man's shoe. I have wide feet, wide enough that wide shoes often still give me trouble, but these fit fine. For comfort's sake, these are a winner, but don't buy them thinking they're going to be stylish.

I use with orthotics so 1 size up works best. Good arch support and cushion for very physical job, on feet for hours at a time in damp environment. Needed the support along with the lite weight flexibility for crazy positions working with animals requires of me. Hard to find support and flexibility together. Could be a tad more stylish. Maybe an accent of shimmer somewhere.

Felt kind of hard when I first put them on, but they definitely give the support you need. I'm a nurse and wear them 14 hours at a time, usually completely standing. Just added an insole for cushion and I'm really liking them!

I am getting a half size smaller than my normal size because this arch support doesn't fit my arch and the wide toe box makes the shoe longer than normal.

I was hoping for a miracle I guess to combat my chronic plantar problems but the shoes were just OK. Not much different than the insoles I purchased for my other shoes. Also the shoes are quite bulky. My kids teased me that they looked like bowling shoes!

I've had plantar fasciitis for the past year and a half, and I am a huge fan of Orthaheel sandals (though recently they seem to have downgraded the strength of the soles, and I can feel the support collapse slightly as I walk.) These are great sneakers with arch support built into the inserts. They do NOT offer as much support as, say, the Layla slides, but they offer enough for me to get through my cycling workout with minimal heel pain. If I wear them to walk around for awhile, though, I start to feel the ache (which doesn't happen with Orthaheel sandals). I'll stick with these for a year and see if there's anything else out there next time around, though I may get these again.

I have bunions, plantar fasciitis, and my heel rolls inward,(overpronate),which causes my knees, calves, and lower back to ache after standing at work all day. I have been wearing New Balance 812 and 928 with added orthodic inserts and they had been doing fine until the last pair I got. I did some research and found these Orthaheel Walker shoes that are specially made for my type of foot problems. After reading the reviews, I bought my normal size 9 and also a half size smaller, 8.5. The size 9 were wide enough. but too long in the toe and the arch support didn't hit my feet in the right place. The size 8.5 were the right length, but the width was just barley right. I normally need extra wide width, but these only come in wide. They had excellent arch support and they did feel like my feet and legs were in the right alignment which made my knees feel better. But, after walking in them for a while, they started rubbing my bunions. There also was a seam in the upper that was right over my bunion that made it worse. The inserts that came in the shoes were very supportive, but they were not soft enough for me and I would have had to add a gel insert. If I could have gotten a size 8.5 in extra wide width, I would have kept them, but I had to return these and I bought the Brooks Ariel shoes instead. The Brooks shoes came in extra wide width, didn't have any seams over my bunions, and they were so much more softer than the orthaheel. The Brooks shoes felt great as soon as I put my feet in them and I tried them on in the evening when my feet were hurting! Zappos was great with all the returns and exchanges.

These are great support shoes for the feet and ankles. They have orthotic inserts that help keep feet in a comfortable position while standing or walking. They are roomy in the toe box. They are great for wide feet. They feel a bit heavier on the feet than ordinary cross-training shoes feel.

These shoes definitely helped me overcome the pain of plantar fasciitis. I alternate with two other pairs that have similar arch support.

If it were not for the look of these sneakers, then they would be my favorite pair of athletic shoes. The arch support is fantastic, and there is plenty of room for my toes to spread out. I have plantar fasciitis, so being on my feet for a long time usually ends up with me doing some serious couch time after. But I recently helped my mom move, which took several days of loading, unloading, up and down stairs, etc. It was amazing, because my feet still felt good at the end of the ordeal. A real testament. The looks though...eek. Orthaheel is slowly coming around to making their shoe designs cuter, but this one clearly has not received the treatment yet.

I want good arch support and ordered these because I have a pair of their flip-flops and am very pleased with them. Arch support in this shoe is good but the foot bed has no cushioning at all compared to the Sketchers they are replacing.

I ordered the wide and it's still a little on the narrow side. The arch support is great. So far no problem with my plantar fasciitis.

This shoe, in my usual size, was definitely large. Even with a size smaller that usual the shoe seems bulky. I think it is the right size for me but the shoe itself is a 'hefty' shoe. Very well made, however.

Pros: Nice deep shoe that accommodates custom orthotics. Narrow heel. Wide toe box! Very good arch support out of the box, no need for changing out the insole. Cons: Sole is stiffer than I like. Insole is modestly padded. Shoes look clunky but that's because they're deep enough for orthotics. I prefer to wear running shoes because I'm big and tall and have found that running shoes are better padded and have a more flexible sole. These Orthaheel walking shoes aren't bad just not great for me. Good arch support but I wish they had a bit more padding and the sole wasn't as stiff. The fit is excellent, I wear an 11M with a narrow heel. My plan is to alternate wearing them with my Asics Gel Nimbus 12 running shoes. If you're used to wearing walking shoes and want a pair that offers very good arch support, then the Orthaheel is a good choice.

One day delivery again! I can't believe how Zappos does this so consistently.
About the shoes...
The style is extremely clunky and old lady looking, a dissapoinment in the looks department. However, that being said, my feet felt in heaven from the minute I put them on. The toe is very roomy and the arch support is high and in the correct position. I wish the big word Orthoheel wasn't so prominently printed on the flap, advertising to one and all about the necessity of such clodhoppers. Overall, I will be wearing these shoes a lot, as I can now stand and walk for hours without pain the next day. I'll take comfortable over ugly any day.

Comfortable with good arch support. Toe base is roomy making the shoe feel like it runs a little large. I wish I had ordered a smaller size at the same time for a comparison.

I was really disappointed in this shoe. The leather is very stiff and cheap. The insole is certainly not worth what Orthaheel charges for it. I have a wide foot and I ordered the wide the leather is so stiff it pinches at the widest point of my foot. I bought these because in the Summer I bought two pair of Orthaheel flip flops which hurt at first but once they wore in I was thrilled to have them! As I've gotten older I've developed heel issues and flatter feet and can no longer comfortably wear flip flops. These solved the problem. So when the walking shoe (and another style I ordered ) were so uncomfortable I kept wearing them hoping they would soften and be more comfortable. So the soles became too dirty to return. Now I'm stuck with two pair of very uncomfortable stiff shoes. For the price Orthaheel should use softer and better quality leather.

This is my 4th pair of these shoes. They fit well and give great support for long hours of standing/working. Only issue I have is that this pair and the one I bought last year squeak. The first 2 pairs I bought did not. Not sure if it is a new problem in design. I still love the fit but this will effect my decision to repurchase. I have not asked for exchange but zappos is wonderful for exchanges when needed.

This is my first pair of Orthaheel. Let me preface this by saying I hate sneakers, but needed to give these a try for my plantar fasciitis. They are pretty good, as far as sneakers go. They provide enough cushion and support for me. I wear them pretty much every day. As far as sizing, it says to go down from your normal size, I didn't find that. I ordered both the size I would wear in a sneaker and the next 1/2 size down and that was way too tight.

I have totally flat feet. Severe pronation. Upon doctor's order I had to find shoes to hold my feet up and be comfy. The Orthaheel actually is more comfy than my specially made orthotics. The arch hits my foot properly. The toe space is a bit wide. I can wiggle my toes more than in any other shoe I've owned. Not sure if this is a positive or negative aspect of the shoes. Still getting used to it. When tied tight the shoe gives me a lot of support. I am still getting used to the very wide lacing area other than that it looks like a wide athletic shoe (though it's a medium width). I bought a white pair for my work in healthcare and a black pair to wear with jeans.

This shoe is about 1/2 size bigger than what I usually wear, plus the front half of the shoe doesn't have enough padding underneath. The arch is great like my Orthaheel sandals, though. I'm returning this pair due to the lack of padding since I'm a walker, plus I'm on my feet all day.
