I'm 98 years old and they really do make my balance much better! The comments about that top closure strap being too short is very true but it doesn't matter to me that much and wouldn't be enough to prevent me from buying the shoes. They are wonderful shoes!

Great shoes, with one small problem: the seam at the base of the straps is too tight. I have a very wide foot! But I think I can have it stretched out. Thus the four stars instead of five.

The good news is that these shoes fit my narrow heel and wide toe box (7.5EE). I could use the velcro straps to keep the toes nice and loose and the heel tight. However, I also found the shoes to be stiff, taking awhile to break in. I also found the soles to be more slippery on ice than I had expected - the rubber is hard and the grooves are not deep.

First time for New Balance. Quality construction but extremely clunky looking and felt a little oversized.

Got it in black size 5 1/2 EE to wear for work at a restaurant where I was on my feet all day. Not a particularly cute shoe to be sure, but comfort was the main goal with this purchase, and it exceeded my expectations. This is the most comfortable shoe I have ever owned. I had them for four years of near everyday use until they finally got too ratty to wear anymore (but they still held together).

Tried them on in December but was not sure that the straps were long enough. After wearing them for a few weeks, the straps were fine. They are very comfortable and need no special inserts. I would buy them again.

After reading other reviews, I went up a size. I was glad I did. The shoes are comfortable and sturdy.

For me, this shoe ran small. I ordered three sizes - 8.5B, 8.5W, and 9.0B. On the first try, the 8.5B felt deceptively comfortable. But then I noticed that my right big toe kept grazing the toe box ever so slightly every time I stepped forward. Walking back and forth on the carpet, I almost missed it. But then I stepped onto the linoleum in my kitchen, and realized that testing a shoe on a hard surface really makes a difference. Because the shock and impact is greater, I think my foot moves forward within the shoe more. After imagining my right toe ramming up against the box all day, I decided the 9.0B was worth a try. The toe box was much roomier, and my toes did not subconsciously curl up or graze against the shoe. I would highly recommend anyone considering this shoe to buy both your regular size, and the next size up. As for the 8.5W, that pair felt too wide from the moment I tried it on.

The biggest problem I had with this style was that the tongue is long and pressed into my leg when I took a step. Otherwise, seemed like a nice shoe.

These are comfortable shoes, though not quite as comfortable as Dr. Scholls. It didn't need a breaking in period.

I've ordered these in the past and the fit was perfect. I don't know why they've clearly changed the design, but the velcro straps are much too short and I cannot fasten them. Sadly, these will go back. I used to love New Balance, but the last few orders have been very disappointing.

I liked the feel of these shoes but they allow my feet to over pronate too much for my needs. In addition the straps are too short for good looks. Appreciated the detailing that made these look less like "granny" shoes. Unfortunately, I had to return them.

Propet sizing seems to be very hit or miss. My current pair in a different model were a bit snug at a size 10AA. These are the same size, but I'm swimming in them.

Other reviewers weren't kidding about the velcro strap being too short. I have no confidence that the velcro would hold, also concerned that pants, etc would stick to the exposed velcro.

STIFF! Tongue too long; would make blister on front of ankle.

Normally I find the New Balance sneaker with Velcro closure to fit comfortably, this time it didn't. There's a pressure point by my big toe that is quite irritating and uncomfortable. Since these sneakers have been worn, I'm presuming a return is out of the question.

The problem with this sneaker is new balance makes wide but the the velcro strap is not long enough go close the sneaker..this is the 2nd time we tried wide on new balance

Need wider 4EE

Runs smaller than New Balance usually runs in length and width. Very thick and stiff leather..

The tongue rubbed my ankle and was very uncomfortable. Also they squeaked. So I am returning them

When first trying them on, the sole of the shoes felt comfortable. But even tho I ordered my usual size, it felt a half-size larger and slipped on my heels; the tongue of the shoe rubbed against the front of my leg; the sides of the shoe rubbed against my ankles. I had to return them.

Fit and size were fine, style was as expected (I have the shoe in another color), however, both shoes squeaked, which is unusual in a an athletic shoe. Slightly embarrasing in a quiet environment. Have initiated a return. I'll have to look to another brand to get the shoe I need.

everything was fine except the velcro straps were too short by about 1/2 an inch. Did not secure well.

I probably should not have ordered a wide with.....but shoes felt very stiff and hard.
