My son loves these sandals and he wheres them all the time. I can't tell you yet how they will hold up. They are easy to put on and take off and the strap system is easier to adjust. They only complaint mt sons is the white sole.

I am wearing these on vacation in August on Cape Cod and Nantucket . Great to wear during the light rain showers and to the beach and every where we go.

I enjoy this product around water as well as in the woods or desert. I wear them daily. My 5th pair.

Solid, slightly heavier than most Tevas with tough rubber soles. No-frills straps, gradually arching foot bed. Seems to be made for rough dirt trails.

I have very high arches & Teva is a rare shoe that supports my arches.

I recently purchased these sandals for a trip to Baja, California due to their good arch support. I like them better than the Chacas which were the other realistic option. Unfortunately I only had two days with them as they were somehow left in Baja during the course of the weekend. That was pretty much a bummmer. Also, the one for style is because I have been wearing Tevas since I was younger, and I do not think they are stylish, but they definitely do have a purpose - good supportive water shoes for someone with big feet (mine were a size 15).

I love the sandals. This is my third pair in six years, so I've been averaging three years per pair. A bit expensive, but I've tried some other brands and they fell apart in months. The last pair didn't come apart, the sole wore out, kickstarting a motorcycle. I wear them every day. I lived on a sailboat up until a few months ago. Lately I've moved on land, I notice that the the soles absorb the soil from my garden and then I can't get the sole of my feet clean. I have a continuous black smudge on my heel and ball of my feet.
But I'm incredibly frugal (cheap) but I still spend the big bucks on the sandals.

This is a comfortable shoe, once I broke it in. I think it's fine for light hiking. However, the shoe wasn't great while hiking a trail that crossed streams. When the shoe got wet, my foot never felt completely secure while stepping through a rocky river bed. Although, I did love these for the sidewalk and the beach.

...you're gonna like these.
The Teva Hurricane is the perfect sandal for those looking to replace their tried and true originals. I have a pair of 25 year old oringal Teva's and while they're still hangin' in they are definitely showing their age.
The strapping on the Hurricane is the same and has the same adjustments as the originals. The heel strap really needs to be shorter and have the end finished with a rubber tab ...like the originals. The heel strap is far too long and, out of the box, the velcro strip extended past the end of the strap. When you adjust the heel fit you may end up with extra strap hanging off the sandal along the outsides and the velcro can potentially rub you a bit just below the ankle bones. Trimming the excess velcro is easy, shortening the heel strap maybe not so much. I guess something got lost in the translation ...and that would be from English to Vietnamese; whereas my originals were made in the USA this latest generation are made in Vietnam. The long heel strap knocked these out of the 5-star rating. I mean come on guys, you got it right the first time out 25+ years ago. What happened along the way?
Sizing. I tried these on at a locally owned store. I wear a men's 8.5 and the Hurricane only comes in whole sizes. I ended up going with a size 8; they fit me perfectly. Sandal fit, especially with Teva'a and like genre, is kind of a personal thing. I like my sandals to fit closer to my actual foot size ...some folks like a little more real estate. I did try the 9's and while they were not overly large on my feet, the 8's had the better fit for me. If you're wearing a whole size, then go with a whole size. If you want more protection for the toes, you'd have to go the next size up.
The biggest improvement the Hurricanes have over the "originals" is comfort. Hands down. No comparison. These are a way comfortable sandal. With the right amount of softness under foot and with a nice cushy ride ...I can wear these all day long ...no sweat. And if I do, well, the anti-microbial stuff in the foot bed takes care of that. Hurricanes are also lighter than the originals with a better shape for your foot; they have a small heel and are not a flat sandal like the originals ...and this adds to their all-day comfort.
The soles have a pretty aggressive tread. They should work pretty good for day hikes and general "off road" work. I can't comment on how they handle wet conditions but they are great on just about any dry surface and tackle rocks with aplomb.
If you like the simplicity of the original Teva's and are looking for an equivalent replacement for those old faithfuls, these are the modern rendition. Outside of the heel strap ...which might not be a big factor for you ...the Hurricane still embodies the perfectly simplistic original design with a healthy upgrade in comfort. If you like the originals, you'll probably like the Hurricane.

I love the sandal. The only issue I have is the Velcro glued to the upper strap on one is coming undone already.

This is my second pair of Hurricane's. The first was used virtually every day for a year, and the only failure was the Velcro. I switched from two rounds of Terra Fi, which was far superior to the Hurricanes in arch support and sole construction. Unfortunately, the second Terra Fi that I owned had a ShocPad that felt like a piece of concrete and almost destroyed my heel. I have been wearing Teva's for more than 25 years, so I can't even count how many pairs I've owned. That Terra Fi was my only uncomfortable pair. I noted another report complaining about the ShocPad, but I do not know whether this is a rare situation. I would immediately buy a new Terra Fi, if I could be convinced that the ShocPad situation has been resolved!

These are great sandals for my son. He is very active and hard on shoes. He has found these to be very comfortable and "cool" looking. We've finally been able to get him to get rid of those ugly plastic clogs that kids have been wearing lately.
The only thing that kept me from giving it all 5 stars is that Teva did not have an all black option for this sandal. Other than that, the sandal is great! He wears them all day for any activity.

I would love to see some of the old features come back. eg. Spider rubber, Terrydactly foot bed, varied styles of basic sandles. I would also love size 12 in Women's so I don't have to keep wearing just the Mens styles.

Used for outdoor activity, wherever I don't need to protect the foot more. I've had Tevas before, they're strong, last a long time, look good, can get wet, go on easily. No particular drawbacks, for a sandal.
