This is heavier duty than the Keen Whisper. The Owyhee has more coverage at the toe and the back of the ankle. I felt that the foot bed in the toe area was a little wide. I ultimately went with the Keen Whisper because I was looking for something lightweight. I could see how someone might want these for hiking.

More of a shoe than other Keen sandals, but still very cool and breathable. Keeps toes and heels protected. The most comfortable summer shoe I've ever owned. Great support

I was looking for water shoes for my Jamaica trip climbing the dunn river falls and this sandals works great. Super comfortable and works great on slippery rocks!

These are a great sandal. The fit is perfect and I can see how they would be a great option for walking and light hiking in the summer months. I am looking for something with a little more cushioning so I'm sending them back, but they do fit very well.

I needed comfortable walking shoes for an upcoming trip to Machu Picchu and Easter Island. I ordered several different styles and brands, and hands down, these were the best of the group! As soon as I slipped my feet into them I knew I found the perfect pair! They are so comfortable - immediately! I know I can just spending hours walking in these! Afterwards I went ahead and ordered more Keens - more for hiking - love them!

Love the look of this shoe, but it's impractical. Walking gathers dirt and stones and I don't want to wear socks with them! They also run 1/2 size too large and I found them a little difficult to get on (which sounds contradictory, I know).

I call these "lesbian-mom shoes" (everyone who wears them should take that as a compliment). I love them, they are super comfortable and lightweight.

These fit decently. But I just was not excited when I put them on. I have a lot of Keens (the old style Venice and Newports and love those). I wish these had been in a red or bright blue or something. In the photo they looked decent, but once on, they just looked too blah!

I got these shoes for a trip to Jamaica at a time when I was having knee problems and knew I would need support. The shoe gave me the stability I needed on the beach, in a water park, on a jetski. It drained well and did not retain much sand. The only negative was that after a particularly long day of walking/hiking/swimming I developed a sore spot, that led to a cut on the inside of both feet, just below the ball of the foot. When I wear then again, I will try to insert some sort of cushion to prevent the friction in that spot.

I am a big fan of Keens, and practically live in my H2 sandals. I thought I would try these because of the heel, but I'm returning them and in favor of another pair of Newport H2s. These are more lightweight than the H2 styles, and the sole is not the same material. The sole on these feels thinner, less supportive, and significantly less comfortable.

I ordered my regular size (10) and it fit great in heel and toe box; however, too long (about 1 inch). Also, my little toe got caught in the gap. Returning, thanks Zappos.

I love Keen shoes, this one ran a little wide and is a lower quality than the others, spend the extra money!

Very comfortable. Wore them out of the box for many long days at Disney. I also wore the Ahnu Tilden IV. Both great. Ahnus are lighter weight.

LOVE these shoes! First time out of the box was for a walk in the woods;have worn them almost daily around the house, running errands, etc. Firmer footbed than others I've tried.

Was very nervous about ordering sandals. Since Keen has a good reputation decided to try. I really like keen Owyhee. They are very nice looking and comfortable. Thank you so much.

These are fantastic! I have difficult feet - bunions on both feet and plantar fasciitis in one foot. These were comfortable right out of the box; no rubbing at the ankles or on my bunions. The best part is that the enclosed back allows me to use my orthotics. I wanted something that I could wear all summer (instead of sneakers everyday) that work with shorts, jeans, or a casual dress, and something that I could use for walking and biking - these fit the bill. They are sturdy but not too heavy. Overall, they are a great purchase.

I ordered a PR of keen shoes from Zappos. I was pleased with the order. Before completing the order Zappos advised me how the shoe fits and advised me to order this shoe a half size larger than my regular fit. I appreciated this advice as it saved both me and the company time and unnecessary expense. I will use Zappos again.

I need both orthotics and some padding for the ball of my foot, neither of which can be kept in place without a back on the shoe. Like the two other pairs of Keen sandals i have, these are water-friendly and adjustable. My only quibble is that, if you have any protrusion of bone on either the big toe joint or the little toe where it meets the foot, the footbed rubs against it. i solved this with a bit of sticky-baked foam and am ready for Cape Cod.

I love my Keen Owyhee's. Very durable and I really like the closed back. The fit is perfect. Only problem I have is even though they are open they are very hot to wear.

I originally bought these for summer hiking when I didn't want to wear socks. They performed great on the trails. No slipping, no sliding and no blisters! They are so comfortable I now wear them any place I am doing a lot of walking like city tours, shopping, etc. I just rinse them when they are dirty, they dry fast and look good as new. I ordered my normal size but exchanged it for a size smaller. No problems, no hassles. Fast service! Thanks!

I like these pretty well. I have plantar fasciitis. I ordered these and the Newport and Voyageur. The Newport is much more supportive and sturdy than this Owyhee. However I kept the Owyhee. It was more comfortable than the Newport in the heel and more suitable if you intended to use at poolside. I would not have wanted the Newport to get wet. The Newport irritated my heel. We were in Kentucky and I found my feet did sweat some in these but worked fine for a day of touring. If you have foot issues I would not recommend these for a long hike...they are not sturdy enough.

Buy these wonderful shoe-sandals. You and your feet will be smiling. Very comfortable the second you put them on. They look good too. Walked down sf ocean beach, hiked in pacifica, no problems whatsoever. World best customer service, Zappos is a-1. Ordered on Tuesday, received them wed. Am. I was happy, you rock Zappos!

I need protection from the random rocks, sticks and invisible creek and river debris. These shoes seemed like they would fit the bill. As I was on a mission to find a water/sport shoe that would protect my feet and be comfortable I also tried the Teva Omnium, and was extremely disappointed. I would not waste any time on it, you can read the reviews on Amazon to find out why. The Keen Owyhees were great, and cute, but just not for me. My second to last two toes kept popping out the sides (I have long toes) and my big toe bumped and got caught on the top toe protector in an undesirable way. Also the texture on the foot bed of the shoe was too irritating to my tender skin, and they were simply not cushiony enough for my tender feet and they were much too heavy, but keens definitely are the widest shoes around, so if that is important to you, than I am sure these are great. I ended up also ordering and keeping the Ahnu Tilden IV as they were extremely comfortable in comparison to the keens right out of the box, this fairly new company has put a lot of intelligence behind their shoes, and it shows. The Ahnu shoe is so comfortable, I can wiggle my toes and there is a fair amount of width, and the adjustment is great. Also on the Ahnu, the straps across the top are highly functional, as you can adjust the tightness of how the shoe stays on across the top of your foot –virtually giving you a custom fit. And the heel strap comes in behind to really keep it snug, something you need if you are water hiking or playing in the water, with the Keens you just get the one adjustment with the cord so it limits the way you can adjust the fit in my opinion. As for the looks well that’s always going to be subjective, but if you are looking for water sport hiker type shoes, this basic style is what you get, and I think both the Ahnu and the Keen are very stylish. The profile of the Ahnu is slimmer and more elegant than the keens, which I think will work out well for just running errands around town and for when you need a go-to shoe not just for water sports, but also for walking the dogs and going on bike rides and walks around the trails. I am very happy with both shoes, but am definitely a bigger fan of the Ahnus and highly recommend giving them a try especially if you live an active lifestyle and need comfort, versatility and protection in a summer shoe.

The only thing I don't like is my little toe come out between the slits in the shoe. But I will still wear them as they are like slipper with control!

I bought these for my wife for our vacation. She loves them. Very comfy and fit very well. We tried them out on a wet, slippery, muddy trail and had 0 problems. She did wear socks and used her hiking sticks (just had a knee replacement 2 months ago). All in all she loves them.
