About two years ago I tried Birkenstocks and found that I could finally walk without pain. I have very flat and flexible feet and the support felt great. Of course I went out and bought several pairs thinking a major problem had been solved. A few months ago I realized that my knees that had never given me problems before, were becoming very painful. It seems like the problem could possibly be my beloved Birks. While looking around the net for something else, I stumbled on the stories of people who had gone to barefoot or non-supportive shoes because of pain. This of course was the opposite of what I had been doing. My knees were so painful though that I thought it was worth a try. It's been a month wearing these shoes almost exclusively and being barefoot as much as possible. The articles that I read were mostly from runners, which I am not. But my knees are much better. My feet are sore but they seem to be getting used to it, and I am kind of "pulling up" at the arch. I've used a very careful, gradual approach to learning how to walk in these. I do wish the shoe was wider. I had to buy a half size up to accommodate my wide feet, so the shoe has a loose feel to it. The recommendations say they should fit like a glove, which I don't think I would want. For bad weather I've used my Merrell hiking boots with the insoles taken out to make them more roomy and flatter. They still felt like low heels after wearing the Barefoot Pure Glove. Very odd. So far so good. And I have actually gotten compliments on them at work, which I never had with the Birks. After a few months I should have a better idea if the shoes are working for me or not, and will update this review.

I was concerned about the lack of support in the shoe (thus, barefoot), but am surprised at how comfortable this shoe is. I have a high arch, and I feel just fine walking all over, for miles even, without discomfort.

Very comfortable and versatile shoe. I can walk, run, go to the gym and do pilates/yoga in these shoes. I hate wearing socks & sneakers and have had a hard time finding a comfy shoe that is easy to put on and get off. The only thing I would say that could be better is the velcro strap could be longer - if you have wide feet like me, the strap only goes halfway, but still strong and holds tight.

I have narrow feet with high arches and these shoes were very comfortable right out of the box. Lots of room for the toes. I normally wear an 8.5 and I had to go with a 9 in order for my toes not to touch the tip.

Wow, I love this shoe - it's like wearing no shoes but comfy! I ordered the Merrell MJ Breeze at the same time so I could decide which to keep but they are both so comfortable I'm keeping both and probably ordering both in other colors, too. Ordered them on the 5th and was wearing them on the 6th! I love the shoes almost as much as I love Zappos!

Very comfortable and true to size. I wore them all day without socks right out of the box. Look cute with shorts or slacks. No blisters, no rubbing even with swollen feet!

Love these shoes. I've hiked all over southern California in them, thrown them in the wash, and had them looking as good as new again. Very comfortable & I really like how they connect you to the terrain you are walking on. I've found I have less slips and falls going down steep, sandy, rocky mountain trails in them because I can sense my footing better and they give me better balance. I also credit the Vibram soles for helping me keep my stability. Also, while the design does not allow for very many rocks and debris to work their way into the shoe, I enjoy having more of my foot exposed to the sun and air to breathe better. I also love the velcro strap which allows me to adjust the arch support to my liking. Just a note that sizing may vary from shoe to shoe, as I originally ordered these in yellow, and the sizing seemed to run a half size small. Having never put on a pair of barefoots before, I wasn't sure if it was just the style for them to be so tight fitting, so when I decided to go with a different color, I exchanged them for the black in the same size. The black color fit me perfectly with a little more room to them & the sizing seemed spot-on. Thank goodness for Zappos' fabulous return policy which makes exchanging so easy.

These shoes do fit like a comfortable glove, very simple, I wear them both casually and at work. Could not believe how fast they were shipped. Great service. Thanks.

More shoes like this, please. Light, trim, flexible and pretty. The toe box is roomy, but doesn't look wide. These are more comfortable than my sneakers, but still look feminine, even in a size 11.

I really like these shoes. They are comfortable and cute. I wear these mostly on my days off but have worn them to work with pants. They feel like slippers to me. Also they make your feet look small!

I bought these to strengthen my feet for running. I love that they are not strange looking like the five finger, they're pretty cute on really! They run at least a half size big!

These shoes are fantastic and they are so comfortable and very cool looking. Even though I am 52 years young I don't feel weird wearing these out in public. They are really cute on.

After having no so great luck finding a comfortable replacement for my worn out Keen Madrid ballerina shoes, I found these but did not want to return yet another pair of shoes back to Zappos. I found a local store which only had the lavender color in my size. I typically wear a 7.5 size shoe in a wide width (wide forefoot, not so wide heel), but have been wearing Keen shoes in a size 8.
The Lavender shoes in a size 7.5 are extremely comfortable. The toe box is wide, and nothing chafes or rubs against my feet or toes. I've worn them on several 3 mile walks in the past few days (no socks) and am thrilled with them.
After spending a couple of days wearing the lavender shoes, I also ended up ordering a black pair from Zappos. My black pair feels a little bit narrower than the lavender and rubs against my left little toe slightly. I think the fabric upper is either bending in just the the wrong spot. After a day in the office, the little toe is a little sore and almost has a blister. I think the black pair will end up being used more casually and will not be used for long walks/ hikes. The shoe did not feel quite as tight by the end of the day, so I'm hopeful that the spot will stretch out.
I don't know if the colors make a difference, but it seems as though the sizing in this shoe is not consistent and may account for the other inconsistent reviews where some consider the shoe smaller than marked, but others think it is larger.
Overall, I'm thrilled to have found these shoes. I'd give my lavender pair 5 stars and my black pair a 3.5-4 for comfort.

This shoe is not a typical shoe I would normally buy, but once I tried them on my feet fell in love. By far the most comfortable shoe I have ever had on my feet! I love them, wear them all the time and have recommend them to everyone I know! And I tell them buy them from Zappos!

These shoes got me through 10 days of non-stop touring around Virginia, Maryland, Washington DC, and NYC.
I wear Crocs, Clarks, Alegria, and other comfort shoes, but none equaled the level of comfort as these puppies here!
The thin sole is made by Vibram, and so you'll notice mystery muscles developing more as your feet accustom to the barefoot style of these shoes.
The breathable fabric top sole allows your feet to push hot air out with each down step while still staying insulated (in 35 degree NYC weather, mind you) and the maryjane style strap keeps wide feet like mine from slipping out of the otherwise soft and flexible shoe.
I love these shoes. End of story.

I just received these shoes and I absolutely love them. I put them on immediately out of the box and have no complaints.
They fit perfectly. I wear a 8 1/2 medium, and these fit. I did place a lightweight arch support in them, as there are no arch supports in the shoe itself, and now they are perfect! Cute shoe!

Nice footbed but the toebox is enormous. I'm going with the Merrell Circuit MJ Breeze instead (much cuter).

I love the Merrell Pure Glove. I have been wearing 4 different vibram five fingers for the last year and have worn the sole out of each of them. These Pure Gloves are perfect work or hiking. The soles are thicker than my vibrams, and are just as comfortable, plus you can put them on faster! I wear a wide shoe size, and these shoes are perfect and very comfortable. I wish they came in more colors!

I am loving these shoes. I bought one pair and have a feeling I am going to have to buy more, because these feel so good I don't want to put anything else on. I have tried other barefoot styles - the five finger - but those didn't fit me well and also the five fingers are too weird to wear at my job! Anyway I have walked in these, lifted weights in these, and done kickboxing, and they felt great in everything! I plan to get some black ones for work when they are back in stock. I got my regular size (9) and that size fit perfectly. Finally, a barefoot style shoe that is cute!

I love these shoes because they can be worn without socks. They are very comfortable, but they do run a little big. I would maybe try a half size smaller than you usually get.
I got a size 9 - my usual size - and they are a little roomy, but wearable. I got the black ones, and you could even wear them to work as maryjanes. Overall, great shoe!

I purchased these in the Acacia yellow after doing some research on "Barefoot" shoes. Thankfully, these are much more attractive than Vibram Five Finger shoes, but have the same thin, light Vibram sole. Barefoot shoes are made to make it feel like you are walking barefoot to naturally strengthen your foot and leg muscles, so don't expect the same cushioning and arch support that you would normally have in any other pair of Merrells. You can definitely feel the ground in these, which is exactly what I was looking for. Also great that these are machine washable, and they are so thin and light that you can roll them into a ball. Very comfortable, and I have already received many compliments on the color. I will most likely pick up a second pair, or maybe a pair of Pace Gloves.

I am a true 8.5 in length, but due to bunions on both my big and pinky toes, I usually have to go up to a 9. I ordered both in this shoe, and am happy to say that the 8.5 was the right size for me (which means the sizing is "true"). What I have found with the Merrell Barefoot shoes is that if you plan to wear socks, go up a 1/2 size. If you plan to go barefoot, order your normal size. These have less arch support than the lace-up Merrell Barefoot shoes (such as Pace Glove and Dash Glove), but more than the Wonder Glove, which had none. (But the Wonder Glove was way cuter.) In the end I decided not to keep these because the velcro strap was annoying me. I prefer an easy on/off shoe (if it's not a lace-up), and you have to unhook the velcro to get these on or off.

This had more structure in the arch and sole than I'd expected for a 'barefoot' shoe. There was enough space in the toe box. There was indeed space between my foot and the shoe above my instep, but I thought that was fine. I still like the shoe and almost kept it, but decided to go with another style Merrell barefoot shoe instead.
