This shoe has a design flaw and doesn't work for a high instep foot. The velcro strap is intended to fold back and stick to itself, but on my tall foot the strap is too short and doesn't cover the hook side of the velcro. The hooks can catch and ruin anything they touch.

I am in love. I purchased this shoe because I am required to wear a covered toe shoe for my job and the sock/sneaker combo wasn't cutting it on the beaches. When I first put them on, I was afraid that they were 1/2 size too big, but once I velcroed the straps, I realized that they felt amazing. This is my first barefoot-type shoe and so far I couldn't be happier. I've put about 25 miles on them so far. They don't rub, they protect my feet and they are way easier to dump sand out of than unlacing a sneaker. I think that they offer really good support. They're awesome!

These shoes are very comfortable and can pass at work if you're in a more casual office. However! Be warned: these shoes will make your feet sweat. Like, buckets of sweat. On a 70-ish degree day I wore these with a skirt and my feet were just screaming 'why are you encasing me in this!?' Comfy, yes. Going to my go to once summer fully hits here in the Northeast? Not likely. And that's a shame, because these are not cheap!

I got these in the black color, and I have received many compliments on them! They are very comfortable and there is no issue with fit. These are very fashionable, feminine barefoot shoes. Those are quite hard to come by! They are a bit pricey but you will be wearing them a lot because they are so comfortable! They go with just about any outfit too. I highly recommend these shoes. Merrell is the best brand!

This is a great shoe. I have problems with hips knees and feet. Also have plantar fascia. When I put this shoe on, seriously. The pain disappeared. I was shocked. Seemed like magic. Love it.

I have a narrow foot and was delighted that these shoes fit! They are more comfortable than being barefoot!

I'm getting old...and this is a great alternative to an old lady's lace-ups, which I am not quite ready to surrender to. The strap gives just enough support.

I have walked hundreds of miles in these shoes and still love them! Extremely comfortable, absolutely no break-in period, and cute with or without socks. As a new minimalist convert, I have had a hard time finding shoes appropriate for work, but these are just fine for my "business casual" office.

I really love these shoes! I was upgraded to overnight shipping and was thrilled when they arrived so quickly! I wear a size 6, and ordered a 6. I am happy with the fit. They are a little roomy in the toe area, but it does not bother me. The shoes look very cute on, and like another reviewer said, you don't really notice the Merrill trademark on the strap (I ordered the black ones). I have another lace up pair by Merrill (barefoot style) but I really like the quick Velcro strap on these. Very comfortable. Yes, they seem pricey for the lightness of the shoe, but they do not hurt my feet (I'm 56 year old). Worth it!

A great dog-walking shoe, cute enough for a cafe. Very roomy inside, runs a tad long, but this is good for my wide front foot. Lightweight, but still sturdy (Vibam sole). Closed foot, all synthetic makes it too hot to wear w/o out socks, unfortunately. The protected toe (Keenlike) gives that semi-clown foot effect, but if you had smaller feet than mine (9) and slim legs, you could still wear this with skirts to good effect. (Heck, you could wear it with a skirt even if you had big legs and big feet and no one would stare.)

I've been running in Saucony Kinvaras and wanted to start wearing something more minimal in my daily routine (can't quite pull off the Vibram Five Fingers at work.) This shoe is great; nice quality, the red is not as bright as it looks, but not frumpy maroon either. The upper is nice and stretchy, and while the sole is a little stiffer than I expected, I'm guessing it'll break in, like other Vibram soles I have. Almost perfect, except for the fit. I measure 7 1/2, usually wear 8, up to 8 1/2 in running shoes. The 8 in this shoe was so big, the arch was under the ball of my foot! My 7 1/2 exchange just arrived, and while I still have over a half inch of room in front, they're tolerable. I get that a "barefoot" shoe should be roomy enough to let the toes spread out, but for me these run long by a full size. What I do like about the fit is that there's room to move width-wise without the shoe feeling sloppy. The heal doesn't slip and the toe box accommodates my post-pregnancy wide forefoot. Also, I really like the placement of the strap -- it's right over the arch, and I can tighten/loosen it to customize the support. I'm really excited about these; I just wish Merrell would provide a size chart specific to this shoe.

I hate to be the one person who didn't like this shoe! I researched the barefoot shoe movement & this is the second barefoot shoe I've tried. I read reviews of this style at different shoe sites, and was really excited for a non-leather option that could pass in my corporate work environment. However, these felt like cheap KMart shoes out of the box. On, they're a 1/2 size too big for my size 6 feet. I was going to order the next size down, but after wearing them for 5 minutes, they're going back. I have high arches & high insteps, so the strap doesn't velcro fully across, which is fine. But when I walk, the strap rubs back & forth on the top of my foot, even though I have it cinched tight enough to leave dents in my skin. I couldn't tell you how the barefoot sole feels, because the strap hurt so much. I'm willing to spend a lot on shoes to bring my feet & spine into balance, but these are too uncomfortable to bear.

Really like these shoes. I first became aware of how much better my feet did in minimalist shoes when I wore Merrell Circuit Breezes. Bought these earlier in the winter and am very pleased. They're comfortable without socks on warm days or with when its colder. They are especially great traveling shoes -- take up almost no room in the suitcase and don't add any weight. So glad I found out about them!

Couldn't be more pleased. These shoes are exactly what I was looking for. A comfortable walking shoe that is lightweight and more stylish than a tennis shoe. I've worn them while hiking and also to work with casual skirts. Love them!

Since these shoes are more comfortable form hugging I had to return the first pair and order a half size down. So much more comfortable. I usually wear clogs or boots, so am not used to having a back on my shoes. These shoes are so comfortable, they feel like leather socks. the top is a nylon fabric, I'm afraid my toe will pop through due to wear. we shall see. otherwise, these shoes are really awesome.. I'd buy more.

Pure joy! As soon as I put them on they were just great - so comfortable, like wearing a favorite old pair of shoes. The sole flexibility seems to make it easier for me to keep my balance. The negative heel height may be helping prevent my lower backaches as it seems that I'm "lined up" more naturally. The Velcro straps are a breeze for my stiff fingers to fasten comfortably.

I'm 50 yrs old, have been running for almost 25 yrs, but was getting so much ankle pain that I nearly gave up altogether. I decided to try the minimalist approach, though it's counter-intuitive that less padding would result in less pain. But it has worked for me! I'm thrilled with these shoes! When I occasionally go out for a run in the old padded-out shoes, I experience pangs of ankle pain. I'm a real believer in the minimalist running shoe and I plan to order another pair of these, perhaps two.

These shoes are super cute and really like walking barefoot - except with much more support! I wore them my to work yesterday and 8 hours standing was no problem. I plan on buying at least 2 more pairs.

I really like these shoes. I wasn't sure when I first put them on, but after wearing them just a little while, I loved them. I wore the shoes in Italy a week after receiving them and had no problem with the cobblestones, many stairs, etc.

I love these! They are extremely comfortable - like being barefoot, as it says - but very cute, too. I get comments on how cute they are - pretty strange for a running shoe. They've become the thing I wear all day in the office and for running as well. The shoes also fold up well and are great for travel.

These little maryjanes are everything I hoped they would be. Cute, comfortable, wearable all day from gym workout to yoga, the grocery store. I wanted them for cute travel walking shoes. I ordered one size smaller, and wear them without socks. Feet do feel sweaty, but no stink!

Awesome shoe! I wanted a barefoot shoe a little less extreme than the five-fingers and these are perfect! My feet never get tired. The stink factor with no socks is minimal but I have started using a bit of foot powder just to keep it that way. I got a bit of a blister on the tops of my feet from the straps, but that went away pretty quick. Very comfy! Great shoe and cute too!

Love the shoes! I wear them all day, but by the end of the day when my feet swell, they are a bit too tight. Otherwise, they are true to size. I tried a half size down and a half size up. The size I wear was the right one!

I was curious about the "barefoot" movement, but I couldn't commit to the Vibram shoes so I gave these shoes a try. Wow! I love them, and since I teach and am on my feet for a good part of the day, I always had sore feet and mild lower back pain after a particularly demanding day. Truly I was surprised that a shoe with absolutely no arch support could be this comfortable. I also ordered the Vivobarefoot to compare, and the sizing ran a bit small. I would say that the two in terms of immediate comfort are neck-in-neck. This has become my favorite shoe immediately.
