I ordered the tan grain Helen Plus after trying on the snakesin Helen. The snakeskin Helen was too narrow, Mephisto advertises these as being the same shoes, just wider. That is not the case. What I loved about Helen was that the sole was very soft. The sole is not smooth and soft on Helen Plus.

What everyone said about the toe hole was true for me. I can't wear them. Tried to wear them enough to stretch it out but they cut off the circulation to my big toe and took the top layer of skin off.

I just received these Mephisto Helen Plus sandals in my normal size 8. I had previously ordered the standard Helen in a size 8 and found that, even with my narrow foot, they were extremely narrow, but the length was fine. So I ordered the Plus thinking it would be just right. Unfortunately, the width was right, but the length was 1/2 inch too long. Go figure. I'm not sure what Mephisto is doing with their sandals and shoes, but they sure don't fit like they used to. Too bad, but these are going back tonight.

I love these shoes. This is my 3rd pair. I need a wide fit and they are perfect with goid arch support.

In other Mephisto styles, I don’t need a wide width, but for these I do. They’re very comfy and cute.

I’ve had my Helen Plus sandals for over a decade. They’ve carried me on travels across the US and around the world. They are without a doubt in the top two pairs of sandals I’ve ever owned (the other are Chaco Z/1). Excellent arch support, supple leather, and I’ve had them resoled and the footbeds replaced twice through Mephisto’s repair program. Buy them once, you’ll have them for life. Highly recommended!

Most of my shoes are the Finn Comfort brand. All of them are size 40 and categorized as a "medium" width. The Helen Plus is a great fit for me, although I know I will need to break them in for total comfort. Nice shoe!

So perfect in the foot bed, but the upper leather was so sturdy I feared my feet would break before the leather softened. Lovely sandal, order the nubuck or natural leather.

I am so glad to be able to purchase the wide Mephisto Helen again! Their regular width did not fit my foot, even when I sized up. After two years of hunting for them, I was just about to shift to anther brand for this summer. Color me happy!

Love them! I had returned a pair of regular Helen’s and had to dig to find these plus style which is wider for normal sized feet. (The regular Helen’s are ridiculously narrow.) Not sure why Zappos doesn’t make these searchable by name. Probably a glitch. Going to buy a second pair. Still runs small but go one size larger.

The Mephisto Plus exceeds my expectation. Following extensive leg/foot/ankle surgery, my regular Mephisto width wasn't enough for a comfortable fit. After reading all the negative reviews, I was hesitant to purchase them. But, I'm glad I ordered them. They are exactly what I need to get back on my feet. I would normally wear a 9/39 but following surgery, I'm more comfortable in a 10/40. Give them a try if you need a wider width.

My first pair, LOVE them! I normally wear an 8 in most shoes but am noticing that I need a little wider width. I ordered these Helen Plus's in a 38, gray. They fit perfect! Love the color, which is more of a metallic color and will go with everything. Wish the wider ones were cuter and not so earthy/birky. But the comfort is worth it. Very pricey, but I think they will be worth it.

These are my favorite. I needed a good walking sandal for an upcoming vacation. I ordered the regular width which were slightly too narrow. I was hesitant to order the wider one after reading reviews that the big toe area was too tight. I ordered anyway and they fit great. I'd say my big toe is 'normal' in size. I wear them all the time. They're very comfortable. I do wish they offered more colors.

I read the reviews first and got a size bigger. I ware a 9-9 1/2 got a 10 (40) and its just right. Very comfortable!

How fantastic! You actually carry Mephistos in a wide width. I love these shoes but they are narrow so a wide is perfect! I have rheumatoid arthritis in my feet and these shoes are so comfortable. I wore them before the RA too. Love them!

I love this shoe! 5 stars! I wear 7.5 or a 38 usually, the 38's were long, so I got a 37 which is perfect. The width is so perfect. slightly slimmer than a regular width in the Birkenstocks. Wish Mephisto would create more styles with this width, why only one? The toe strap fit perfectly, not too snug. The other straps hold the foot in place nicely when I'm walking.

I found these shoes to be comfortable for a wide foot, though they are not too wide. I ordered up as suggested, they were too long. Zappos sizing said 38 are an 8, which is correct for this shoe. So I'm exchanging them for the 37's which is what I should have ordered. I'm a 7.5. I did not have a problem with the toe loop being too tight as others have reviewed. This is a nice fitting sandal.

I have ordered this shoe three times trying to get the wide width and instead they send me the medium width which does not work. Sadly I am going to have to return the third pair as I can't seem to get them to send me the correct shoe. Customer service people are very nice but can't seem to get to the root of the problem. I guess i will have to try to find it elsewhere. Very very disappointed.

I love these sandals. They are comfortable, offer good support, and I have received numerous compliments. These shoes come in regular and plus sizes. I've used both, but prefer the plus due to my wide feet.

Love these! Birkenstocks didn't come in my size, so I purchased these. The regular Mephisto Helen sandal was not wide enough at the toe box, but this one is great and I love the neutral footbed. I showed them to my podiatrist who gave me a thumbs up. The only drawback may be the gray footbed color when walking in freshly cut grass - I got a few green spots on it. Otherwise I'm loving them!

Wow - these shoes are wonderful. I have an extremely wide foot, so I ordered the Helen Plus and the fit is perfect. I normally don't like thong type sandals, but I don't even notice the leather between my toes. I have a problem with plantar fasciitis, and these sandals seem to be the most comfortable for all day wear. I've been wearing them around the house instead of slippers. Bought the tan initially, have ordered the black today. Would love to see wide widths in other models.

The Plus sizes seem to fit my wide foot better. My first two pairs of Helen's were purchased in Europe where I have read that the wider size is standard. I have purchased two Helen Pluses from Zappos.com now and am very happy with them. Since it is not quite warm enough yet, I have not worn the new pair much but I do find that they provide much needed support and help with plantar fasciitis. The Mephisto Helen is my go to sandal for the summer months. Since it is hard to find good supportive shoes for my wide foot with a high arch and my tendency for overpronation, I am grateful that Zappos.com carries them.

I have worn 'Helen' sandals for about 13 years. I just don't wear anything else during the warm/hot weather. I live in Phoenix and wear them at least six months out of the year. I have had two or three blacks, tan, a couple of browns, tangerine, purple, and red. To me, there is nothing better. I just recommended them to a lady in a shoe store today who has arthritis so bad that she can hardly find shoes to help her. I hope she finds them as wonderful as I do.
