So Just like the Last pair of Pataguccis I had they came out the box and fit perfectly. I would say the one department they could improve on is arch support there is virtually none. But that was to expected from Patagucci. I had my last pair of PG's for over three years now and am still rockin them on a regular basis, so I hope these ones live as long as the last pair. Through and through the Lug pattern on the sole is good and aggressive, the outer design of the shoe is pretty dope as well. It can go from the office to the trail without any problems. I highly recommend the pattagucci drifter to all who consider it.

Very nice hiking shoe. Normally wear 11.5. Ordered size 12 and was WAY small. Returned for 13 which fit just right.

I've been searching for a good outdoor hiking/camping shoe. This is it. It does run a size larger and other reviews have stated. I have Morton's toe and the toe box works great for that too. Excellent under wet conditions and use in the boundary waters. I was going to use them for trail running as well, but have love my Vibram toe shoes too much. Running is much more comfortable "barefoot". I would recommend these to anyone, except maybe people with very narrow feet. Leave it to Patagonia. Never disappointed.

Great shoes. No break in required. Have hiked > 50 miles in wet conditions. I changed the inserts after first use to Superfeet, big improvement.

I am a woman with a wide foot, have great difficulty finding a comfortable hiking shoe, especially for long downhills. This shoe was comfortable right out of the box, and remained so on a rim-to-rim hike of the Grand Canyon after just two weeks of breaking in period. Needed to re-order a half-size larger, as it seemed to run small. I wear custom orthotics, so can't comment as well about arch support.

These shoes rock! Literally, they go through rocks, sand, mud, rain, anything really while staying virtually clean because of the moisture wicking gore-tex. As for the issue of some reviews stating that the sizing is too small, I tend to disagree. Unless you're wearing some super-thick socks, I think that the sizing runs true, and I'm a consistent size 12. Wear 'em a lot the first few days to break them in and you'll have some nice hiking or all-around shoes for a few years depending on your use.

These may be the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned! The Vibram sole has large cushioning tread and the bottom inside of the shoe seems to form fit to my foot. It also is cushioned. And the Gore-Tex works well. We went hiking on a puddle covered trail and my feet stayed dry! They're pricey, but worth it! I'm flat footed and tend to walk on the inside of my feet (pronate). After two months they're doing well with this but perhaps could do better.

Really like this style from Patagonia. Traction feels good hiking loose rocky trails. Like others I ended up ordering a 1/2 larger than I normally wear. My normal fit had toes at very end of shoe.

Thanks Zappo's for your great service. I recently purchased the grey Drifter Gor-Tex shoe, now I'm ordering a brown pair. I had no break period at all, very comfortable and light weight. I wear hiking boots for my job as a truck driver and warehouse work. These shoes get me through the day 12 plus hours with little or no foot fatigue or back aches. I can only imagine how they are on a trail. Highly recommended.

Great shoe and fast delivery as always. We bought a size larger because of reviews but ended up having to return for regular size.

Overall I like the hiking shoe just fine. But it was a hassle getting everything squared away. First, I am a regular size 10.5 and always take an 11 for athletic shoes to accommodate size differences and socks. In this case the 11 I ordered was too small so I ordered an 11.5. When I tried it, my toe still touched the front of the shoe. I was able to remedy this by tightening the shoe laces towards the toe to prevent my foot sliding forward. Next I ordered a special insert pad to provide arch support which the shoe did not come with from the factory.

Super light weight and lots of cushion. Excellent traction. Great for trails, but only ok for flat surfaces.

I almost LOVE these shoes. They look great. They are waterproof. They are exactly what I need for my lifestyle. They do run small, I am usually always a size 10 and the 10's were way too tight. I returned them for 10.5's and they slip a little. They fit perfect everywhere else but slip in the back when I walk. It's frustrating but I can still wear them and they aren't blistering the back of my feet. I'd say go for it. But definitely order .5 size up. I should also note I tried the slightly less expensive waterproof drifters that weren't Goretex , they just said waterpoof and I didn't like them nearly as much as these.

They look big and protect your foot like a boot, but they do run small length-wise. It's the kind of situation where I don't want to get the next size up. Width-wise they are great, even for wider feet. They just aren't perfect. The foot bed is great. They look a bit monstrous.

These have more of a boot feel, with a raised heel. Unfortunately my toes slide forward into the front of the shoe. It might work for someone else, but not me. I think it could be rebalanced. Also the color is a little lighter than what appears in the photo. The width and length were just right, and the materials everywhere seemed pretty good. It is a little expensive. Almost a great shoe with loads of protection and support. These have as much toe room as Keen and I think they look really cool for a hiking boot. If I needed more foot protection in a shoe these are very good, and maybe worth a try. I just didn't like how raised they were. In the end I didn't get these, I got GoLite shoes which are cheaper and feel better.

Love/hate this shoe. Bought my first pair of Drifter's 4 or 5 years ago (bought Patagonia boots a couple of years earlier). Very good platform for hiking & trail running or outdoor workouts but these are not lightweights. I really like the overall support & fit. The Vibram sole is quite hard & rigid which I also like but here is the hate part. On wet or very smooth hard surfaces they loose points for me the soles aren't sticky enough but not so bad that I wouldn't buy them again.

Hands down the best light hikers that I have ever owned. Superb fit and comfort out of the box with no break-in. I use them for hiking or dog walking in any weather except brutal cold or deep snow. They will stay waterproof in anything short of a downpour. This is my second pair, but nmy first pair with GoreTex. I took off one star for longevity. My first pair wore out in a little over a year after the heel cup that provides that snug fit, wore through the lining, making the hard plastic cup rub against my Achilles tendon - too painful to walk in. So I went a half size up (10½, I usually wear a 10). At first they felt a bit loose but after using lock lacing the fit is spot on! I love these to death and hope Patagonia never stops making them!

These are very well made shoes. Equality equal to or surpassing Keen. My feet stay dry and they have worn nicely over many miles of hiking. The only issue that I have is the arch support which I find is poor in these shoes and was the case in previous pairs of Keens. This is why I switched to Patagonia. I may have poor arches and will have to resign myself to wearing custom inserts but I was hoping not to.

Very comfortable, sturdy shoe. With the Gore-Tex it is also waterproof. I walk a lot (about 10 miles a day) and am always looking for a good walking shoe. This fits the bill and I have no complaints about the fit or comfort. My only complaint is that the sole wears out relatively quickly (I'm on my fourth pair in a couple of years).

They seem well made, comfy shoe, have not got them wet yet. No 5 star given. The lugs are pretty big on the edges, but that's a personal choice. They're still a good looking shoe. A little pricey in comparison, but well see. I usually wear a size 9. I'm in a 9 1/2, after wearing a month the 9 may have been okay, but now will be able to adjust with a heavier sock or a slight pad.

Very comfortable, but runs small--order a full size up. Also, as others have mentioned, the soles are very slippery on wet surfaces; despite the seemingly grippy tread pattern, I slipped several times on wet stone, brick, and wood. I suspect it's the Vibram, as I had no problems on the same slick surfaces with regular rubber-soled shoes.

I followed everyone's recommendation of going a size up. Its essentially true. There is a little bit more wiggle room in there than should be when climbing hills or none level surfaces, but for normal running around the looser fit is best for me.

This review is for people who climb class 3 and 4 routes and hike long, difficult, rocky trails. I did not buy these for easy day hikes, work, shopping or walking the dog in wet grass (really?!?). I bought these for serious adventure. I am extremely hard on shoes and have yet to find a pair that can stand up to my abuse. The Merrell Moab GTX fell apart after 1.5 years, and you can forget about La Sportiva, Hi-Tec or TNF making any durable footwear in this category. I can’t yet attest to the Drifter’s long-term durability, but after a half dozen climbs and hikes, first impressions are good. The Drifters are beefy. And heavy. I am typically an ultralight devotee, but durability and protection from rocks were paramount in this case, so I was willing to concede for a purpose-built shoe. The Vibram sole is bomber. It’s the reason for the Drifter’s heft, but I’ve skimped on the sole before to save weight and regretted it. Deep lugs and the directional tread provide excellent traction even in steep, loose gullies. The rubber rand goes all the way around the shoe, and the back of the foot is entirely shrouded in rubber. Excellent protection but with enough flex to allow you to climb with confidence. Surprisingly comfortable for such a burly shoe. Sizing is true. Wide toe box. As for this silly “Style” rating that so many people commented on in their reviews? Seriously?? If that's a concern for you, you shouldn't be buying these shoes anyway. I gave it 1 star just to scare you people away.

I want to love these boots. I have a wide foot, but they feel very narrow to me and small in the toe box area. Not much wiggle room. Which others have said are wide. Other than that, they are the best looking boot/shoe out there. The heel and arch support is awesome, the sole has a great feel and looks like it would be grip well. I have had Merrells for the last 10 years. But the new ones feel cumbersome like a big boot. I want the waterproof hiker with the shoe feel. I am trying one more time with a larger size with these. Normally run a 8.5 shoe I'm trying a 10 with these! Also wish they had these Gore-Tex available in the Coriander/Cork color! Love that brown leathery look with the orange.
