Great shoe/boot thus far. Only issue as mentioned by others was that I had to move up a half size from my normal. Comfortable out of the box and no break in required.

The shoes arrived in due time (thank you Zappos). The fit seem small at first - especially in the toe box. I decided not to return them and I am glad because over a week or 2 they "broke in" and loosened up to what I would describe as comfortable snug. I have had them a couple months and nothing has worn out. I expect these to last a couple of years because they are well built.

An amazing shoe. Just bought my second pair. The first lasted about 2 years before they smelled too bad from my feet to be worn in public. That was all my fault though. They never failed me, were always comfortable, and went very far with me. From sidewalks to grass to Glacier Park trails. Overtime they may require some waterproofing spray. Get this shoe.

I love this shoe. I just bought my second pair after using my first regularly for 4 years! It's a work of craftsmanship that fulfills its purpose unusually well. Plenty of cushion all around, rubber toe and heel protects your feet and the shoe. The aggressive, wide tread provides stability. Gore-tex kept my feet dry on a recent rainy camping trip. I'm not in the habit of buying the same shoe twice, but after looking around I realized this couldn't be beat! I really like the grey color scheme as well. Sharp product.

I am very happy with my Patagonia Drifter A/C GORE-TEX shoes. Some background. I'm 6' and 300 lbs. About 10 years ago I started getting Plantar fasciitis. The solution turned out to be buying shoes with very stiff soles. My Podiatrist told me to turn shoe upside down, one hand over heel, one hand over ball of foot area (or toe area) and bend gently then increase to moderate. Only the ball should flex, not the arch. It should not twist and flex easily. The advantage of this top is I can return shoes to Zappos without even trying them on or wearing them. If I put in arch support, my feet hurt much worse. Only Dr Scholl's gel heel pads worked when I was in pain. However, those heel pads tended to slide forward (in my motorcycle boots). I bought only Merrell shoes for 5-7 years and never had a problem...then Merrells (for me personally given above requirement) turned into soft garbage. I've returned 6 pairs of Merrells (about 2 years ago) before I gave up on them.. Its taken me 2-3 years to find shoes that provided that stiff sole shank without wearing work boots. I found that Keen Utility did very well. Of other better shoes, I found only the GTX Gore-Tex model was even close to stiff enough. I have one pair of Salomon XA Pro 3D Ultra 2 GORE-TEX high tops (which added extra structure). My only issue with Keen Utility is that sometimes I want a lighter hiking shoe. I had a North Face shoe (black with red trim) that did well for few months until the plastic toe kick starting peeling off. I considered going up a half size due to reviews, yet one review clearly stated they would 'stretch' after break in. I bought an 11, I have worn 11s for 5 years. When I got the Patagonia Drifter A/C GORE-TEX in 11, it was tight. I was worried I should have gone up 1/2 size. I wore them to work...8 hours...and they loosened up. The next day, I went hiking with Patagonia Drifter A/C GORE-TEX...and they were very comfortable. Support good for my arches (for me stiff, not padding). The hike was about 4 miles and a lot of climbing up and down on very uneven dirt/gravel/rocks. No arch pain. I did have a little discomfort in my left heel, though I attribute that to my lack of hiking in the past 3 months. One other note, about six months ago I started replace all my insoles with Superfeet Green, which cups my heel better and gives me even more stiffness from heel through arch.

I have been nothing but happy about my purchase of the Drifter A/C Gore-Tex. These are some of the most comfortable shoes I have owned. I bought these to wear every day, not just for hiking and trail use. I work in a lab on concrete all night and these babies are the best I have wore at work by far. As for the fit, I wear a mens 15 and these are spot on. I have a time with shoes fitting my large feet but these fit perfect. This is my first pair of Patagonia's but will not be my last pair. Super fit and finish!

I am 6'2, 240lbs. I work on a printing press and paint houses and boats on the side. I am up down, inside out and standing on my head...don't need shoes for that though. But my point is I put the Patagonia Drifters on and they have not left my feet. I stand for 12 hours a day 5 days a week. Plus my side work. I can't say enough good things so far, I will come back and update. I found most reviews valuable. And I don't give out compliments unless deserved. So far these are the best shoes I have worn...previous shoes worn (out)...Merrells, Vasque, Timberland, Carolinas, even Red Wings. Doc Martens too...every shoe and person is different, so try them on. So I have been around the shoe block. Hopes this helps. Thanks Zappos, first purchase of many, great company.

Bought these shoes specifically for a two week walking trip to Italy - which we just returned from. All I can say is - OUTSTANDING! Great shoes that handled A LOT of walking (city and country) and even did well as I had to "kick" off the curbs a few times as I was jetting around on a Vespa in crazy Rome traffic!

This is the 4th pair of drifters that I own. I have the non goretex in 2 colors (one for work in khakis) a pair of non GT mids and now these. Haven't had a chance to test the GT out as I bought them for the cooler weather speculating that they wont be as airy as the non GT version. As others have said, these are excellent all around shoes for hiking or casual wear, very supportive and comfy.

Best hiking shoe there is, the entire Patagonia drifter shoe line, is an amazing shoes and the boots too. I have bought about 6 pairs of these in Gore-Tex, non Gore-Tex, leather and boots. These shoes fit fantastic and they great vibram soles and are ready without breaking in for example. You'll love these shoes, I will continue to buy more of them for hiking, my work and etc.

Well, it took me a while trying different brands and sizes and didn't necessarily want to spend this amount of money but these shoes are awesome. Backed up by a very sustainable brand.

Right out of the box, these were super comfortable. They are truly waterproof. I had nice warm toes on a 0° day. They probably will be too warm for summer but are perfect for the rest of the year. Size 13 fit perfectly (I usually wear size 13).

Great Shoe with a very stable sole. I wore Salomon goretex shoes for a long time but their quality has changed for the worse. This shoe is very well put together, stable, stylish, and comfortable even on really slick surfaces. felt small at first when I first got them but once I settled into the shoe and shoe insert they fit like a glove.

I looked and looked at all the waterproof, hiking boot/shoes on Zappos. These are stylish and very comfortable. Order 1/2 size larger. I am so glad I checked the other reviews. I wear a 10.5 and I purchased size 11. They fit perfectly! The color is a little more blue green than the images online. But, that is cool and they are still very manly and hip.

These hiking shoes are great! They need little to no break in time at all since they are already pretty comfortable right out of the box. After reading people's reviews that the shoes run a size small, I tried the size up as well. They are, however, true to size. The toe box is built with a sturdy rubber that makes the toe feel snug at first. But after wearing them in a little, the shoe fits great, especially when compared to a size up which has too much room in the toe if you're wearing these for true hiking.

Landscaper: Durable, Dry, Comfortable & Cool. No other shoe has made it through my occupational demands. Typically I buy two pairs of shoes per summer/fall season. This is the first year I have not. Normally this time of the year I am breaking in my second pair. Still dry and shoe shows little sign of giving up. This shoe is a must buy if you put unreasonable demands on footwear.

I read all the reviews re. small sizing and ordered a 10.5 (my regular size) and 11.5. I couldn't get my foot into the 10.5 however the 11.5 fit perfectly. The shoes are extremely comfortable and have a very wide "toe box" and very good toe / heel protection. I haven't gone hiking in them, but the tread is aggressive and looks like it would do well. I tried on similar Merrell, North Face and Salomon shoes and these were by far the most comfortable. They appear very well made and I enjoy wearing them very much.

This shoe has an excellent sole and great support. Also, the fact that it is equipped with Gore-Tex just makes the shoe that much better, since it is water proof. I am thinking about buying a pair in the other color as well. I highly recommend this shoe since it is heavy duty and will definitely be able to hold up to a lot of abuse.

I hesitated because of the price, but you get what you pay for. These shoes turned out to be the best shoe I've ever had. I live in Colorado next to a creek so I tromped around in the snow all winter and ride a bike all year. I hike around and a couple times my foot slipped into frozen water and my feet always stayed dry and warm. The traction on the bottom is superb. The toe is nice and sturdy and the sole removes easily. They fit me perfect from day one. And they look cool. If you need some top notch footwear, you can't go wrong with a pair of these.

My husband is a size 11 in all shoes. We ordered the 11 and it was too small. We thought the 11.5 would work, but that was too small as well. We love the shoes and are now going to try the size 12.

Very good shoe. Very rugged, but comfortable. I actually take a size 12 and had to purchase this shoe in a size 14. The size 12 was way to small. I think a 13 1/2 would of fit the best, but they don't make that size. The color is great. Patagonia has a nice selection of colors that I can actually wear to work.

Felt just a notch small, but it should brake in. Just got them today and I'm super excited. This shoe looks and feels amazing. Nice and tight, great support, and thank you Patagonia for putting the Vibram out sole on this one. I love Vibram. Overall feels like an awesome shoe. I have some achilles tendonitis problems in my legs, but as soon as I put on this shoe I felt like new. I recommend this shoe to everyone.

Wow, purchased 2 pair of the the Gor-tex Patagonia a/c and one pair with out Gore-tex and my father in law loves his, husband loves his and 24 year old son loves his. all stand and walk on their feet for 10 hrs or more a day. they have only had them since Christmas but so far so good, easy purchase with Zappos and fast shipping. will do business with them again. Great gift but the best is happy feet and happy mom/wife/daughter. :) Highly recommend. PS I purchased 2 pair at first one 13 and one 12 due to reviews and they were right so gifted the size 12 to my father and reordered another size 13 for my son ( my husband got the 13's at Christmas), my son and husband are normally a size 12 to a 12 1/2 and I had to get them a 13 and my father is normally an 11 to 11 1/2 and the size 12 that I got my son for Christmas fit him, so I gifted to him because he fell in love with them at Christmas. :) And son had to wait for size 13 but not for long due to fast Zappos shipping . only small complain is Zappos said they would put me on their email list as soon as more came in and they never did, good thing I checked back because out of the 6 pair they ordered they only had two pair left when I made the order for another size 13. But it worked out and they were here in like 2 days so I was happy.

Such awesome shoes. Fit like a charm. Comfortable, warm, and keep my feet dry. A little pricey but def well worth it. Tread pattern is rugged, and Vibram sole is nice. Not too heavy, good weight and balanced.
