Bought this as a gift for my brother. He loves it! Helps keep his bald head from getting sunburned while doing landscaping on his job. I am pleased with Zappos for the fast shipping. Great service and great prices and great product.

I first bought the Sombriolet Sun Hat for a 5-day backpacking trip to Canyonlands National park (red rock desert). This hat is lightweight, packable, sturdy, stylish, and very breathable. The netting in the crown of the hat keeps ya very cool with the added help of four, yes 4, slits for venting. I also found the cord for a tighter fit useful when the wind was howling.

I live in Texas where we see some really hot days. This hat is always in my pack during the spring and summer months. It virtually eliminates the need for sun screen on my face and neck. The quick drying fabric does a great job of wicking away any sweat. It has vents on top to increase the breathability.

I bought this hat to compliment my Seattle sombrero hat for the summer. it has worked well in the field as a land surveyor. I have washed it once or twice and I found that the brim doesn't go back to its original shape and I'm looking for a solution on how to get it to shape to something I would like better. It sheds the rain well and blocks the sun on my neck well. I bought an extra large which fits a little big, but I wear a sweat band so it works great.

Love this hat. Very stylish. Stiff brim that doesn't flap but not inflexible. Wide brim covers my face and neck.

Overall this is a great hat. It's the best lightweight, packable hat I've found that offers excellent sun protection. One suggestion for improvement: Increase the front (and maybe the side) diameter of the brim to match the extra long back. This would increase sun protection and, to my subjective eyes, make for an even more attractive hat.

I bought the Khaki colour for golf and loved it so much I went back a week later to buy the Navy Blue. Fits perfect with no golf swing restriction,... very happy with this product and am contemplating another colour.

Perfect hat for long walks in the sunshine. Covers my forehead and the back of my neck well. It's nice and light and has plenty of air holes to allow my head to keep cool. The chin strap works well and is a necessity in anything other than a very light breeze. I appreciate that it provides protection from UV rays. Good choice of colours.

I've used this hat for gardening, during a strike, and at the beach. It's light, has built-in vents for air-conditioning, and comes in many colours. The wide brim provides superior protection. I lost my last one, sadly. These are worth every penny. This hat also washes well (machine wash, hang dry). They also can be stuffed into a backpack, and still come out looking totally fine.

Curious George Watch Out! The man in the big yellowish hat is back! I recently used this hat in a 100 degrees trail running competition in Texas in July. It worked great to keep me cool and keep the sun off my neck. I can't give it 5 stars, because I have two issues with it. I really wished it was more bright orange and less yellowish. Not just because I can be mistaken for the enslaver of Curious George, its because brighter orange is better to find in the wild. Curious George Watch Out! The man in the big yellowish hat is back! I am not a fan of the yellowish hat, because I can be mistaken for the enslaver of Curious George, but more seriously it's because brighter orange is better to find in the wild. In a trail run, if I fall down a ravine I want them to find my body, or at least my hat. The second with was that this hat is too tall and pointy. Regardless it works great! I too had a version of this hat about 2016 or so. It was awesome. I saltwater fish and it was perfect, stayed on in the wind with the brim flipping down in my face, dried quickly and was cool. Lost that one and repurchased an about 2020/21 and put the hat in my truck to take to the boat a few weeks later. When I took the hat out of the back seat the brim was warped almost beyond usefulness. I have to wear the hat sideways so I can see where I'm going. Very disappointed.

Why they choose to get of the buttons on the side of the hat It's so much better when you can prop up one or both sides and go full Aussie.

Fit my big head perfectly and has great coverage from the sun. Also has good air venting which is important in Phoenix, AZ. Finally, I think it is quite stylish and has an Aussie feel to the look.

I do like the hat. I have a very large head, in the 7 7/8 to 8 range, and find that most of the time the XL fits. A couple of comments...
1. Most of the time they fit, but occasionally one will be a smidge too small. Not comfy.
2. I use them for golf a lot, and as I sweat during the round, the sweat stains build up and don't come out with washing. Not sure why. Maybe someone has an idea on this.
3. I think they are a good value and will continue to purchase.

I measured my head with a flexible measuring tape and I was at the high end of the of OR's large size.
The hat was too large and I was unable to cinch it down to get it as tight as I wanted. Other than the sizing it seems okay.
Its being returned and ordering a medium.
My old Mountain Hardware sun hat was better in every regard but they don't make it anymore.

I've been a big OR fan for quite a while and had my eye on the Sunbriolet for a time before ordering it. When I got it in hand I immediately liked the material, color and overall shape of the hat. However, the sweatband (as others have stated) doesn't stay within the hat but lays outside of it on my forehead and over the tops of my ears. It didn't stay in position inside the hat as it should have and it really looks odd. Even my wife mentioned it and didn't like how it looked. After trying it on several times I finally decided that the only remedy would be to either stitch it up myself or send for a refund. I'm disappointed as I really wanted to like the hat and in the end it went back to OR. I hope OR takes care of the problem as I would buy it again if this problem is fixed.
