The hat was sent folded and too small even though the size I picked is my true head size.

OR's hat sizes are dreadful. No two larges are the same in different models, and in this one the large and XL seem no different. Snail mail is awful, waited 3 weeks for each ill-fitting hat. Terrible experience with this company.

This hat does a nice job of keeping my head cool and protected from the sun--I have had one for a few years. I decided to order a new one and when I received it I found that the Mesh-Lined Crown visible when wearing the hat is not black (like in the picture online and like the hat I already own) but is instead a light grey color (see uploaded photo of the hat I received). For me, the mesh colored black is ideal because it's not too visible, but the light grey color stands out in an undesirable way. This next part is a review of Outdoor Research's customer service regarding the hat (hold on!): I sought support with Outdoor Research and was told, "The photos of the hat you see online is how it looks in person."--tell that to the hat I received! Because of the difference in color, I asked that Outdoor Research cover the return shipping charge and was told by customer service that Outdoor Research does not do that. Outdoor research also wouldn't credit me the cost of return shipping. To be fair, customer service did offer me a coupon code for free shipping on my next purchase, though Outdoor Research already offers Free Shipping, as long as the order is over $49, so the coupon code is kinda useless to me. So in sum: nice hat, but not as represented online, and a company that doesn't seem to be owning up to their mistake.

Bought the medium size as based on sizing chart. Way too snug, would give me an headache. Returned the medium, which I had to pay for, and bought the Large. The large size is way too big. Even a mild wind will blow it off. Called customer service for help, and all she could say was "that's the way they are sized". No effort to make it work, or find a product that might work better. A company is only as good as it's customer service. Will definitely look else where for my next purchase.

Bought this hat as a replacement for similar one that is worn out. netting inside is hot/plastic/not breathable. side vents don't do anything other than let sun in. suggest going back to simple hat with breathable hat band.

I followed the size chart on the website and the hat is several sizes too small. They said i could return it but i had to pay the shipping and that was half the value of the hat. So it is sitting on a shelf looking like a really nice hat that i will end up giving to a charity place.

Super bummed you told me this hat was XL? Not even close, I had to pay to return?? Really?

I recently lost the old version of this hat in the Grand Canyon and am disappointed in the latest version. I don't know if this used to come in size small and now it doesn't so I'm running into issues. The old version I wore on hundreds of hikes with my packs. I never had an issue with it hitting my pack when I look up. this new version is too long in the back brim. It looks like OR lengthened it in the back (back brim is noticeably longer than front and side brim). Please bring back the old design with regard to back brim length. I love everything else about this hat -- the vents, the dark underside, the material, the wire to keep it from losing shape. For now, I'm going to have to go with the Sun Roller -- not quite as good of a hat but it doesn't cause issues with my pack.

Hat was shipped crumpled into a box. It did not spring back to the shape shown in photos when I took it out of the box. So I tried to flatten it back. No luck. Tried to wet it, then reshape it. It's water proof. I look like a drowned rat in the d@mn thing, so am sending it back. Thank goodness I got it from Zappos, so I don't have to fight about or pay for a return.
