Keeps the sun off head face and neck quite well, would have been 5 stars but it loses its shape very easily then looks ridiculous :(

Wish it was a bit more comfortable. The brim folds in a weird way, and the fit is a bit awkward.
But overall, it does what it is supposed to do.

I miss my 100% cotton hat. This is overall too big for hiking. Don't feel flexible in it.

This is a nice hat for shade but the hat is not useable in conditions where the wind exceeds about 10 mph. Wind pushes the brim of the hat either up or down over the user's eyes.

It's way too large for my head size! Could I return it?

I've been a big OR fan for quite a while and had my eye on the Sunbriolet for a time before ordering it. When I got it in hand I immediately liked the material, color and overall shape of the hat. However, the sweatband (as others have stated) doesn't stay within the hat but lays outside of it on my forehead and over the tops of my ears. It didn't stay in position inside the hat as it should have and it really looks odd. Even my wife mentioned it and didn't like how it looked. After trying it on several times I finally decided that the only remedy would be to either stitch it up myself or send for a refund. I'm disappointed as I really wanted to like the hat and in the end it went back to OR. I hope OR takes care of the problem as I would buy it again if this problem is fixed.

Disappointed in quality given the price and brand. Love the potential and style of this hat, but the execution is lacking. Brim is wrinkled, folded and does not hold shape and ventilation is lacking. I find myself reaching for hats from my closet that are half the price as I walk out the door for my walks, yard work and kayaking journeys.

I just purchased my third Sunbriolet and am very disappointed in it. Something has changed in the way the sweatband is sewn into the hat and it rolls out and feels like it doesnt fit right regardless of the tension on the adjustment band. My other two Sunbriolet hats are perfect in how they fit. SO disappointed

I loved this hat for many years and needed to replace the one that was worn out. I ordered a new hat. The piece of cloth that is in contact with forehead has been changed from black to tan. The pictures on website do not reflect this change - still shown in black. The tan fabric looks very odd and has ruined the aesthetics of the hat for me. I hope this change will be reversed.

Upon receiving, the stitching under the brim had already come undone. Had to go online to submit defective product under warranty and approximately 1 month later the warranty process began. I will be getting a replacement. Ironically in 2015 I purchased the same Sombriolet and it has been a fantastic product. The new hat was not as good.

The side vents are exposed to sunlight because there is no overlap, so there is a gap in protection. I have very thin hair and wished they would have overlapped the side vents as they do with the front and rear vents. I might have to stitch a little bit of cloth to cover the gap.
My head circumference is 60cm (23.6") and the XL (24") is too short from front to back because it's not oval enough, so I get a lot of pressure on my forehead and the back of my head, while there are slight gaps to the sides of my head. I can still wear it if I try to ignore the pressure, and because of the tight fit, the hat will not lift off even in extreme winds, making the chin strap and drawstring unneeded. If the brim were a little more flexible, I guess the hat may have conformed better to the ovality of my head, but unfortunately it's stiff and does not.
The top of the head has a lot of extra space, maybe for the air to flow through the front and back vents, but this causes me to have to pull the hat way down until they touch the back of the ears. I wear Oakley style prescription eyeglasses where the temples extend backwards past the ears, so the hat will hit the tips of the temple. I have to tilt the hat forward in a certain way to prevent this.
The rear brim might contact a tall backpack, so I may turn the hat backwards, like other reviewers did.

I bought another OR sombriolet hat for water fitness. It's not the same hat, because the new hat's logo now stands out more than the hat itself. I liked the subtle logo better.. now people just notice the logo. I've enclosed pics of both... please don't be like Nike and all the others who just want their products to advertise! It's better if people have to ask, "oh, who makes that hat?" I won't buy another one if the logo is big & bold.

Construction, materials and style are all fine. Living in Texas heat and humidity I thought this would be a good purchase...measured the head as instructed online and ordered the medium...hat was super snug which is not something I'm interested in...however it might have helped in the wind or on a boat or something. I highly recommend the swift bak cap over this

Good material and generally quality construction. The execution on the brim stiffening is poor. It loses it shape and is seems impossible to get back into alignment.

Nice straight brim in the picture. Mine is arrived hopelessly curled in the brim and it looks awful. Can't figure out how to fix it to I'm returning it.

Pros: neat/cool vents, strap, head size drawstring, colors, UV protection, etc. Cons: brim blows in wind, does not maintain its shape (not stiff enough), looks pretty sloppy, was all bent and twisted in shipment, took hours to reshape and it still looked like I slept in it.
I'd also recommend:
hard to find stiff-brimmed hats with vents like this one

I too had a version of this hat about 2016 or so. It was awesome. I saltwater fish and it was perfect, stayed on in the wind with the brim flipping down in my face, dried quickly and was cool. Lost that one and repurchased an about 2020/21 and put the hat in my truck to take to the boat a few weeks later. When I took the hat out of the back seat the brim was warped almost beyond usefulness. I have to wear the hat sideways so I can see where I'm going. Very disappointed.

I bought this hat first time years ago (2017?) and found it close to perfect. Sadly manufacturer decided to save money or something and later model was not true to size, inner net was significantly smaller than hat itself and made of super rough/hard plastic, not soft like in previous models, and brim went wacky from first wash so quality was so bad i stopped buying this brand. It was the best before changes.

I bought this hat to block the AZ sun, while the brim is large and does a good job of that. The brim became completely misshapen and twisted after one washing in an agitator-less washer and the brim now sticks up on the sides and no longer blocks the sun fully. I have tried twisting it back into shape and no go. I'll just stick with bucket hats from now on.
