These booths are hard as rock and very heavy and manly looking. Get a half to 1 size up. Had to return mine, it was so hard to get ur foot in even with bigger size. You have to untie alllll the laces. Horrible looking and most uncomfortable boots. Had to return same day I received.

Nice boot and beautiful leather. But it does run small. And the deal killer for me was no zipper. I should’ve looked more closely so that’s on me. But it makes it so hard to get this one on or off because you have to wrestle with the laces

I just received these today, and I'm disappointed with the color. I love the distressed look, but my pair looks more brown than black. Someone mentioned in the comments that conditioning them darkens the color, so I will try that and hope for the best. Other than that, and taking 20 minutes to loosen the laces the first time to actually get them on my feet, they're nice-looking shoes

Great quality as always, but front is wide and high, makes foot look huge :( sad to say I have to return after waiting all week Hoping to wear this weekend. I just can't get over how manly they look, please make a more feminine version of the combat boot.

I purchased these boots about four years ago and it was time for a new pair because I wore out the insoles, they were so soft and comfortable and I could not live without them in my closet. I recently purchased a new pair. However, my new pair is not so soft in the inside, the Frye Label is no longer placed on the inside of the boot, just the stamp on the side. I am disappointed the Frye Label is no longer in the boots. I take an 8 but I always order and 8.5 in all my Frye boots, fit is as expected.

Man. These are weird. I saw so many glowing reviews and thought these would be perfect. I ordered a half size up per suggestions. Odd. Just odd. They are narrow, which is fine - it's a slim profile, but the toes are elongated and weird. Someone said they look like gun boats despite otherwise fitting. Spot on.
They are Olive Oyl shoes. Cartoon-y. When you look down at your feet you are going to wonder how in the world they could look so thin and so long at once, but otherwise feel like they fit. It's something about the proportion of the eyelets and boot itself to the foot that is out of proportion. And why do the toes srt of go up, like a clown? I'm not sure. If the boot itself was a little taller, it maybe wouldn't look so weird. These are a miss for Frye. A good idea, but other companies are executing it better in the same price range. Back they go

The black leather is gorgeous, but I couldn't even get the shoe onto my foot, and I ordered 8.5, which is my usual size. I gave one star for comfort, but maybe a 9.5 would be super-comfy, so please don't trust that rating!

These shoes are so stiff and unforgiving! I suspect they will feel great once worn in, but the amount of pain it would take to get there doesn't feel worth it. Even sitting with them on in my apartment hurt. They're beautiful shoes, but I am returning them.

Wanted to add (to a bad review I wrote) that although the product was not perfect, the customer service was beyond fantastic. Thanks so much for that.

Run SMALL!!! Really small! I have a small foot...usually a 5.5 to 6. Ordered these in a six and they were tight all the way around. There was also some deep wrinkling on the tongue of the right shoe and to top of the left shoe. I have purchased Fryes in the past, so I found this uncharacteristic of their usual good quality. While I did get these at @a 30% savings, I didn't think that meant the shoe was sub-par. That being said, I did love the styling of the shoe, but not sure I will size up with this boot specifically due to the quality issues.

These are great looking boots. I was really hoping they would work out for me, but they were just too snug across the front of my foot. I could see my toes poking up into the leather on the top of one of the boots. I didn't want to risk them not breaking in. I need to add that it bugs me to no ends that manufacturers don't make half sizes after size 10. That is so ridiculous.

I tried these on in New York, but they were out of the black so I ordered them to arrive at home in Los Angeles. I love this style, I love the way they look with tights/skirts and pants. The problem that I am having is with one boot and its seams. It is slightly large, as I wanted to be able to wear various sock thicknesses, and one foot is always smaller than the other. My foot slips around a bit and the inside seams are not particularly smooth. I got a blister on my right heel and that is just unacceptable. I have since put duct tape over that seam and have not had the same problem but I am gun-shy about wearing them out for a number of hours or walking around all day in them. As others have pointed out, they are not the easiest things to put on or take off so you only want to do that once a day. They are also very slippery! I have an almost identical looking pair of Doc Martins that I have had zero problems with from the first day forward so I am a little disappointed. I do not mind the weight (I knew what I was getting) but if I could return these boots I would.

I wish I had the same experience as others, loved the style but boot is cut low, narrow and long in the toe area, thus crunching my toes, but still allowing my heel to go up and down, making them very uncomfortable to walk in.
The color did not match what was shown in the picture, they have been randomly white-washed, but as another review had said, this could easily be wiped or rubbed off, but since I cannot keep mine, I did not attempt to do so.
I wish frye would make these in a suede or nubuck, then they would be strechier and probably more comfortable for us with a medium width foot.

These boots pinched at my feet and made my ankles blister horrifically. Shame, because they are really kick-ass stylish. I've read that Frye boots need to be broken in, but the boots were breaking me far too much for me to want to wear them. So, back they went.

These are NOT true to size! The toe box is way small. I ordered and usually wear a 6.5. I am exchanging them for a 7.5. Other than that, they are good leather, good looking, should last for years.

They’re really hard to get on without seriously unlacing them but if you size up, they’re huge, and also really hard to get on. I was looking for a casual option but with effort it takes to get in them, I’d never wear them. They are well made and sturdy but they need a zipper.

I think these boots are beautiful, and they fit true to size. I was so excited about them until I put them on for the second time and through a trip to the grocery store somehow accumulated multiple unsightly scuff marks. For a shoe that's marketed as a combat boot, I'd expect them to be sturdier and less prone to ugly dents and scuffs. They look like work boots after a couple of wears, and not like a fashionable combat boot. Really disappointed for the price l paid and would return if I could.

I love the Veronica Combat, but these are NOT black - they're dark brown and have been messed up to look like they're worn. Super disappointed.

The feel of the leather is gorgeous. They're a perfect fit for someone with a narrow(ish) foot like myself. I have trouble with a lot of slip on styles, and so the lace up is great. They were certainly a 1/2 size smaller than my regular size. I'm usually an 8.5 and had to exchange for a 9. After one day of wear, several of the metal eyelets that the laces thread through fell out. For a boot of this price and reputation I would expect no issues, especially that early on. Returned.

This is my third pair of Frye boots and, for the first time, I am extremely disappointed and in PAIN! Despite being beautiful and well made, these boots are impossible to break-in and not for lack of trying. I've had my pair for months now and they still remain more a torture device in my eyes than a beloved boot. I even brought them on a trip to Dallas in hopes that all the walking would help. Today was the last straw. I just wore them on my less than a mile walk to work and I was tearing up from the pain. My giant blisters are proof - this combat boot wages war on your feet.

I love Frye but I really hated these boots. I wanted to love them, but they were so incredibly uncomfortable I just had to return them. The 2 times I wore them, I did everything to prevent blisters, but they still managed to rip a huge chunk of skin from the back of my left heel, on top of other little blisters all over both my ankles. I tried several tricks to improve them - layer on pairs of socks, soak them in water...Beat the hard ankle part with a hammer (!), but nothing worked. I'm sad to return them and am disappointed, but I guess this happens every once in a while with a brand you love.

I tried to like the boot, but it is very uncomfortable and felt Like I was wearing NOT a Fashionable boot but a men boot, very ordinary boot. Not comfortable at all
