Man. These are weird. I saw so many glowing reviews and thought these would be perfect. I ordered a half size up per suggestions. Odd. Just odd. They are narrow, which is fine - it's a slim profile, but the toes are elongated and weird. Someone said they look like gun boats despite otherwise fitting. Spot on. They are Olive Oyl shoes. Cartoon-y. When you look down at your feet you are going to wonder how in the world they could look so thin and so long at once, but otherwise feel like they fit. It's something about the proportion of the eyelets and boot itself to the foot that is out of proportion. And why do the toes srt of go up, like a clown? I'm not sure. If the boot itself was a little taller, it maybe wouldn't look so weird. These are a miss for Frye. A good idea, but other companies are executing it better in the same price range. Back they go

I am a baby boomer hipster who loves a distinctive look. These boots deliver! I can see dressing them up or down. Isn't white the new black? They were comfortable right out of the box. I wear a 10 Medium but like a roomy toe area. The Veronica Combat does not pinch or crowd my toes. I would say they fit 'true to size' 10 M

Wish Zappos had a " 10? option for these boots! Ladies, if your foot is narrow, like mine (AAA), go w/ Zappos' suggested size, which will be your regular sz. I'm a 7.5 Narrow & these boots fit like a fine calfskin glove! Purchased these in white & the white boots are even softer than others, imo. You won't regret trying these boots! BTW, Before wearing, I contacted Frye as to their recommended protection product & they advised not putting any protection product on the white option as it will darken the leather, thus altering the optic white look. Glad I checked that before covering them with spray. Bottom line: These ARE NOT "all weather boots," but they are dream boots & you will love them! As usual, Zappos was super cool about advising me on sz. Reading all other reviews, I was set to size up to an 8, but Zappos advised going w/ my true size & they were right. I think those w/ wider feet may need to sz up, but w/ narrow feet, try your actual sz 1st. Any swaps needed, Zappos will handle quickly, as always. Can't go wrong with Zappos!

I was looking for a sturdy lace-up boot and these are perfect. I thought the size was right on. I had ordered the plain black ones and there was an issue with one of the eyelets so I returned them. They did not have another pair in my size, so I got the distressed black ones instead and I am SUPER happy with them. They already look worn in and I just love them. I have now bought them in the brown distressed color and the more formal looking brown (I don't see those two any more) and I wear them all of the time. They are definitely not feminine, but they are not so big that they feel bulky. They definitely just feel sturdy and they are wearing in perfectly - I never got a blister and I usually do.

Love these Frye Veronica Combat boots! I had a pair of leather-soled, vintage military combat boots many, many years ago (purchased from an army surplus store and which, in hindsight, I wish I'd kept) and so wanted something that had that vintage look. These don't have a leather sole but the lug sole is not too thick or heavy. Only other real difference is that the toe is not as rounded (stubby) as those oldies. Not sure why some reviewers thought they were "masculine looking" -- I think that they have more of a feminine vibe in that they are narrower/sleeker than a clunkier man's boot. Leather is super soft (and smells fabulous). Sizing, for me, was a bit different than my other Frye boots...normally I have to go down 1/2 to 1 whole size but I ended up needing an 8.5, which is my normal athletic shoe size; in boots, I'm usually an 8 or even a 7.5, depending on the style. Frye leather lasts just about forever, so a worthwhile investment.

First off let me confess I love everything Frye!! I love their looks and quality in every boot I have from them and I have more than a few. That being said there are my favorite style. I have the black ones and the tan ones as well. They are wonderful with leggings and a tunic. You can style them more edgy but can easily tone down the combat boot vibe to go with most anything! They do run a little narrow as most Frye products do but they are full leather so they do form to the foot pretty easily. LOVE THESE BOOTS!

I just bought these and adore them so much I've worn them everyday! I ordered my true size 7.5 and they fit perfectly. As a major connoisseur of combat boots, these have made it to the top of the list. They are a more feminine style, yet I still feel fierce.

I'm not sure why everyone says to size down. I wear a 9, felt lucky to get the last 9 in stock at the time (in black). They fit well if not a little big. I mean, granted, I like the shoe to fit without tons of room or space so it's not clownish (9 is already a kind of big size). There is no 8.5 in stock, so I guess I'll keep the 9s. Still, size up probably is not the rule for everyone. If you have a pretty thin foot without a super high instep your regular size should fit fine. Wider feet or high insteps may have trouble as it's a slim-fit boot. Not much arch support. I added 1/2 foot orthotics. Even with those, there's still room in the boot. The awesome Superfeet green insoles did not fit though (too wide). In other words, plenty of space length-wise/sizing on-point if not tending towards running large. Could def wear a thicker sock to take up space, but I ideally would want to be able to wear a range of socks... Super cute boot... #fierce

Beautiful, very soft boot. They do not have a stiff structure and sag a little around the ankle. I think they may last forever. I love the timelessness of this style.

Loved the look of the boots. Although they look more old than distressed. First day in boots caused horrible painful blisters. They were the right size. Maybe my socks were too thin. Idk. But I returned them immediately.

Love the look of these boots, and the color. It's hard to find white boots. Very comfortable, although without a zipper, i find them difficult to put on compared to all my boots that have zippers. Only gave 4 stars because the leather is very stiff, perhaps it's just that they need to be broken in before it softens up. This is my first pair of Frye boots, so I'm not sure about the break-in length of time, have only worn them twice, I'm sure with more wearings they will soften up and become my new go-to boot. True to size.

These boots are awesome. I had ordered them and sent them back thinking they were too manly looking. Thought about them for a couple of weeks and reordered them - then cancelled the order before it shipped. As always Zappos put up with my craziness. Eventually I could not stop thinking about these boots and ordered them again and absolutely love them. They need a tiny bit of breaking in but not much - 1 day. If you are looking for a combat boot these are the ones. Thanks Zappos for having great customer service even for crazy shoppers like me! You're the best.

with no break-in time, it fits perfect at beginning. Size run a little bit small. I do have one problem, the color seems much more "weathered" than it looks like on the website. I was little disappointed, cause I expect more black leather appearing.

As usual, Frye products do not disappoint. The style, the fit and the workmanship of this boot were all excellent. Really love how they look with jeans. I purchased Cashew and found this color was very versatile.

such a cute shoe. unfortunately, the sizing was huge. I'm often a 6.5, I went with 7 to wear thick socks, but even with that, this was like wearing a clown shoe. oh well.

I bought these boots and received them in the mail today. When I opened the box, I absolutely loved them. I bought the stone wash color and it is beautiful and rugged which is exactly what I was looking for. I own many pairs of genuine leather boots, and typically I wear them around the house for sometimes weeks before going outside, just to be certain the fit is right and I want to keep them. Not with these. I put them right on me feet and I left my house back to work. I immediately knew these weren't going back. i have a couple of Frye boots, and a lot of bed Stu, but these boots are my absolute favorite. I ordered a half size up, due to the reviews, but I'm not entirely sure that was necessary as these will definitely stretch and conform to the feet. For me, I'm okay with them being a teensy bit long to make certain I had a bit extra width. The first day wearing them, one of my heels/ankle area was a bit sore, but I can tell that will let up over time and that these will feel amazing after a little bit of regular wear. Coming from a girl with terrible feet that hurt in most leather boots, these are definitely worth the price.

I hardly ever write reviews, but I love these boots so much I just had too. First of all they are stunning to look at. I ordered the black. They are clearly made with very fine craftsmanship. Listening to the reviews, I ordered a size up, but this was a mistake and they were far too large. When I ordered again in my normal size they fit like a dream. I expected that they would take several wears to break in, but by just the second wear it felt like I had been wearing them for months. The leather is just so smooth and soft. I will be wearing these boots for a very long time!

Oh woe, woe, woe. I did not read the reviews. I was LAZY. I read them after I got the boot and sure enough, Frye boot run SMALL. I mean really small. Like I could not even get my apparently massive hoof down into the "shaft" or whatever they call it. I am still giving this 5 stars because it wasn't Frye's fault, it was my fault for being lazy and not READING. I may try to re-order but honestly I'm not sure if I should go up a full size or two full sizes. It's like, math. I don't want math. I want boots. Yet again, my math issues are not the fault of the Frye company or Zappos. I have math issues because of my seventh grade teacher. Well, enough about me. Oh. And PS. I can't say whether the shoe "felt true to width" or "had moderate arch support" because as I said, I didn't read the reviews and ordered my usual size and these run small so my hoof-like appendage never got far enough into the boot to know whether there was width or arch support of an sock full or quarters in the bottom of the boot. Which would have been awesome because I would spend the quarters. I heartily recommend that you read reviews and notice things like tons of people saying "This boot runs small." They are right in this instance. Sometimes reviews are obviously way off topic, like they are supposed to be reviewing a boot and it's obvious they are actually confused and reviewing an ice cube tray. Those reviews are not very helpful. I doubt this one is, either. I just didn't read the reviews or I would have avoided this whole mistake which is entirely MY fault for not reading the reviews. Even the spatula review can't save me now. I throw up my hands. But I worship Zappos and their awesome service and attitude. They let me return the boots and they don't roll their eyes at me or write back a note, "DID YOU READ THE REVIEWS?" in an accusatory tone. I deserve a rebuke but Zappos is holding back because they are refined and civil at all times. Well I truly hope this helps someone avoid the stupidity I embrace and embody. Read the reviews. These run small. I could have said this a lot more briefly but I had a lot of coffee.

I hardly ever write reviews, but these boots merit one. I ordered my usual size 7.5, and the fit is perfect. I wore them for the entire day I got them, ran errands, walked quite a bit and no problems. No break in period needed. The following day they became the most comfortable shoes/boots I've ever owned, again, I wore them all day. I'm going to get a second pair in the brown color.

I love these boots. The leather is gorgeous. They are just a little too tight in the toe box and I have a very narrow foot. I tried on another pair in a store and they fit perfectly, but were torn. I think these would stretch out eventually, but I know I won't take the time.

Absolutely love these boots! Bought them in vintage black leather. Comfortable right out of the box! I normally wear a size 7. Got these in a 7.5 because previous Fryes have run a tad small. I wear these with a medium thick sock and also tights. As a server, I look incredibly badass in a pencil skirt or mini and tights with these boots. Tons of compliments! My shifts are fairly short but busy...six or seven hours of walking and standing (mostly walking), and even with very little support my feet don't get sore. I was a Dansko girl till I found these. Don't let that make you think they are as supportive as Dansko! No way! Not even close! Just way more stylish and plenty of room in the toe box and a low enough heel so your foot won't be tortured. If my shift were longer I'd have to wear my Danskos but these are just fine. And great with skinny jeans too! Remember to buy a half size larger than your regular shoe size, maybe even a whole size if you wear thick socks.

Good lord these boots take eons to break in. I don't wear them much as they blister my ankles after a while. Once I hit around three miles of walking, I'm over with them. And I've had them for a while, almost a year (but they're sporadicly worn, like I said). So that's a bummer at their price point for sure. They do look great, though, and I'm thinking (aka hoping) that because they take so long to really break in, they should last forever. Oh and don't buy these for the snow. They slip a bit.
