The boot is comfortable and true to size. The style (in size 8.5) seemed proportionally odd to me -- too long, flat, and undistinguished. I like the look of a good, heavy combat boot or work boot. But this seemed too masculine, in a sense, without looking strong and sharp. The boot's profile lacks an arch, a slight curve at the sole, that would have given it some oomph and shape. Maybe a slightly bigger heel or thicker sole would have helped. If you're looking for a decently made combat boot and don't have high expectations for style, you might love these. They didn't fit the bill for me, so I returned them.

Beautiful leather. I’m nearly always a size 8, the 8 fit perfect with a lot of extra room. I didn’t find these to be narrow or run small in the slightest.

Love these boots. Leather is soft. I got the brown vintage color. Whenever I wear these boots, I get compliments on them. I wear special inserts, so I can’t really comment about the arch support of the shoe.

I followed my past Frye boot purchases and ordered a 1/2 size larger and they fit great. I did have to return first pair ordered as they were defective, one real tight and one large like clown boot! But Zappos stood by me with a full one time refund instead of exchange and sent me a perfect new pair of boots. I am now returning the defective pair today, which they sent me a return label. I love the grey color. The water proofing smells strong but will off gas soon.

These are even prettier in real life than the photos show. Beautiful black with silver metallic sheen. They do run small, I always order a half size up in this boot (I own four pairs, love them) but if your feet are wide or you want to wear thick socks, order a whole size up.

As soon as you open the box you can smell the great quality of leather! Then you see the boot and it’s gorgeous and VERY well made. It’s obviously made to last a long time. However, my feet are on the wider side so just looking at them, I knew they’d be too narrow for me but they were so nice, I decided to wear them around the apartment to see if maybe I could make them work. Unfortunately, wearing it just a few hours, it was too narrow; it gave me red marks on my pinky toe and the side of my foot, plus the back of my foot was starting to hurt. If your feet aren’t wide, this is the combat boot for you!

Fits true to size after leather stretches out a bit!

I love these boots. I bought my true size 7.5 in the grey waxed full grain. My feet are more on the narrow side. I love them to be a bit snug at first because the leather stretches a bit after a few weeks. I have the black soft vintage leather too and loved them so much got these. The feels different, but the fit is the same. Trendy and cool. I wore them the first day all day with no issues whatsoever.

I love everything Frye These shoes truly feel like you’ve had them for 10 years. They feel so comfortable when you wear them and the smell of the leather is amazing!! Frye makes the best shoes, purses ect. Love love love them! Did I mention I have another of the same pair in whiskey color. Make the purchase now!

Love love love! Very comfortable right out of the box and I get many compliments! I have several pairs of Frye boots/shoes and these are the most comfortable from the beginning. I have narrow feet, but these boots should be fine with medium feet. I have room to add slim 3/4 orthodics and would probably have room to add full orthodics. I also have many foot issues ( bunion, badly pronate, etc.) and it is hard for me to find a comfortable shoe so the fact that they are comfortable is a big deal to me. You won’t regret buying them.

I really love this syle boot, very sleek and stylish, Not your typical combat boot. With that being said sizing is very tricky. They run narrow in the toe box but lenght is perfect in your tts shoe. I ordered 6 at first then 6 1/2 to be sure of fit. The 6 1/2 is longer and a bit wider but doesn't have that nice fitted ankle as the 6 does. I had to really tighten the laces to achieve the look I wanted. And they do appear much to long on my foot. So while the 6 is snug with a very thin sock, they just look better overall. And reviewers that have had this boot for more then a few months, have said they will stretch in width and the soft leather will eventually conform to your foot with wear. I'm hoping so , because Its a very sharp looking classic boot that looks great styled different ways. I'm usually a 6 in all boots including a pair of frye Vicki boots in suede. Reviews were very mixed and confusing, so depending on if you intend to wear thick socks you will need to go half a size up. But do keep in mind the boot will look longer on your foot, and also it will stretch over time, resulting in a sloppy fit. My daughter is a consistent size 7 1/2 and hers fit her perfectly.

I bought the black multi painted full grain. I must say they are a bit more silvery than I had expected but I like them. They are more comfortable right off the bat than I expected given some of the reviews They fit true to size though I found them a bit longer than typical. I have a fairly wide foot but find these comfortable. A grown up version of the clunkier Docs or combat boots (and much more comfortable). Haven't had them long enough to comment on how they'll stand up but my guess is 'well'. Would buy again.

I love these boots. Love the finish on the leather. Perfect with a float flower print dress or distressed jeans/ shorts and T-shirt. My foot is narrow I got a 1/2 size lower. They fit like a glove and are very comfortable. I think they will wear in well. The light sole makes them better than all other similar boots.

These boots are FABULOUS!!! Comfort with Style is always a plus! The sizing is true to your normal size. I do like boots to feel snug, but also be able to wear a thicker sock if needed. My normal size is 7.5 but I usually wear an 8 in sandals. These Frye boots in 7.5 were PERFECT! Not to mention the price is fantastic! These were over $300 at Neiman Marcus this fall :) .BONUS!

Adorable and stylish boot!!! After reading the reviews I went up to an 8.5 instead of my usual size 8. I’m so glad I did!!! I probably could have gone up a whole size but figure after wearing for awhile they will stretch a bit. So cute! Will be able to wear with anything!!!

I love these boots! In fact, I already have them in red clay, so I knew how they should fit. While I selected too narrow on width, that’s only because “narrow, which means perfect to me,” wasn’t an option. I have AA feet with a AAA heal and they fit very comfortably. I also have low profile, flat feet, and I can put in a half length arch support with heel wedge. They are one of the only shoes that make my feet and back feel great. The brown is less pre-broken in looking than the red clay, but they are lovely and I’m looking forward to breaking them in myself!

As always, Frye has a winner! This is the seventh pair of Frye boots that I have purchased, and they do not disappoint. I generally wear a 7M in Frye boots, and these were spot on. (For dress and casual shoes, my usual size is 6 1/2M). These boots are beautiful, and I have worn them already. Comfortable, and I did not have to “break them in” before wearing all day. Thanks Frye, and Zappos!!

I really wanted red boots and already had these in black so I knew they would fit. I was so instantly disappointed when I opened the box and saw these pretty brown boots. They are not red. They're very pretty, but more brown than red. Now I realize what red clay looks like though.

The boot is great. Looking forward to lots of wear.

Well I read every review on these boots before buying them and the overall consensus was that they ran small. Some people went up a half size and others even a full size. I'm a true 8.5 so I went up a half size and bought the 9. They are a bit big. If you are going to wear them with just regular thin socks I would get your normal size. I am going to keep this pair of 9's but I will have to wear a thick pair of wool socks with them which is fine because it does get really cold in the Northeast during the winter months. I think they are just a bit too big for my regular thin socks. The quality is excellent. They are super comfortable right out of the box and will not require any break in period. I love the boots!

I absolutely love Frye boots and these didn’t disappoint. I feel in love with them as soon as put them on. They fit perfectly and are really comfortable. Every time I wear them I receive MANY compliments.

I bought the black ones and love them, pretty traditional combat boots. I only lace them up to where I would for tennis shoes and leave the shaft part open (just how I like to wear them) so lacing and such are pretty simple. They are comfortable and I have more of a narrow foot but can get them snug with no rubbing. They are very nice quality, a beautiful leather and should last me a very long time:)

These are awesome boots! The metallic black is gorgeous! The fit is spot on but does run narrow. Good for me as I wear a 9.5 narrow. The picture does not do this boot justice. I’m sure these will get better with age. They did not hurt my feet the first time I wore them and the leather is soft. These will look great with skinny jeans and skirts. The best part is getting them on sale!
