I had foot surgery in December of last year. I had a terrible time finding a shoe with enough support that I could walk after having the surgery. I have always worn New Balance but after the surgery I could not walk in them. I bought this pair of shoes and I was able to walk in them without any pain. I love these shoes and will buy them again.

Good Shoe -
Found this shoe to be comfortable from the start. Have worn other styles by Brooks, but feel this is the best one for me. After receiving the first pair, ordered a second pair. Only negative comment I have is that they are clunky looking. Wish they looked a bit for feminine.

Very comfortable, true to size and look good on. I agree with another reviewer about no show socks -- don't bother using them, they will be drawn down into the shoe quickly. Really annoying if you are in a class and have to stop to fix it. Otherwise I like them.

These shoes are very cushioned but made my feet turn out. I had a subtalar fusion done 40 years ago so that is probably just my feet.

I have been dealing with knee pain for a couple years partially due to flat feet and overpronation. I brought these to my physical therapy appointment and my PT said they had excellent support, especially midfoot support which is important for overpronation. I opted to return these to Zappos, however, as I found that Saucony Omni 13 (which I ordered along with the ariels and also showed my PT) had almost as much support and were less bulky/more stylish. The angel blue ariels were comfortable, and I liked the shiny color, but overall were bulkier than I wanted so I stuck with the Saucony Omni 13s. Both shoes slip off my heels, but this is normal for me when it comes to athletic shoes due to the shape of my feet. If you don't mind a bulkier shoe, these are great!

I waited to wear my new Brooks until I left on vacation and unfortunately found them too short. I didn't realize how short they were until I wore them for eight hours on a plane flight. I have just ordered myself a second pair in a size larger but I am also stuck with an expensive pair of shoes that I cannot wear. I love Brooks shoes and have never had this happen before.

These fit ok but they're definitely geared to overpronators. I'm a supinator so I guess more neutral shoes work better for me. My foot really rolls outward in these. Also, these suck the heel of my socks down into the shoe within seconds. Very annoying. I'm returning them.

These are incredibly comfortable, and incredibly ugly! Why must they be trimmed with metallic details? Please make these shoes in normal colors for adults!

I love this shoe and religiously purchase a new one every few months. I have wide feet and walk 20+ miles per week. I started purchasing this shoe because my husband had foot problems and his orthopedic surgeon recommended the shoe for the straight foot bed and good arch.

Cute shoe. I have large 12N feet. These were good width-wise (ordered 12M), but the toes box wasn't wide enough at the big toe.

I usually wear 10 Wide, but had to order extra wide this year (I have worn this same model for several years). They have an "okay" feel, not like the previous years when they gift like a glove. Overall, a good supportive sneaker with an easily removable footbed for orthotic use!

Oh my, I really didn't want to return these shoes, they are beautiful and feel so good, so well cushioned and springy, but they were a little loose in the heel. I ordered the Asics Gel Kayano 20 also, and they feel great over-all, I'm keeping them. I'm not a runner, I'm a 60 year old walker with an artificial hip, a surgically repaired knee, a bunion, a tailors bunion and a Morton's neuroma. Yeah, I'm a whiner, but I love walking. For my needs the Asics win, but I think the Brooks Ariel is an excellent shoe and will work for many people.

I loved how these looked and felt except my heel slipped. I tried several pairs of different kinds of socks but they still slipped. I'm sorry to send them back. Thank you Zappos for the great selection and ease of shopping with you!

Not the most fashionable shoe, but with funky flat feet beggars can't be choosers! Great shoe for my severe overpronation. Not as soft as Asics, but more supportive.

I've been wearing these shoes for years and everything fits great except for the back of the shoe pulling my socks down off of my heel. I've probably bought 100 pairs of socks, some are better than others...but none completely fix the problem. When I brought this issue up to my foot Dr. he said to sprinkle talcum powder on the inside of the heel area and up the inside of the shoe's ankle area. I bought some over the counter foot powder without an odor and it has really helped. I still have to wear socks that aren't too thick and I don't wear ankle socks so don't know if would make a difference with them. This has always been a problem with me and after reading some of the reviews I see I'm not alone. It would be really great to see some different colors and not just once a year! Where's the marketing dept?

I have lived with plantar fasciitis in one foot since the early 1990's. I had costly foot inserts made, to help ease the pain and aid in correcting the ongoing problem. I tried other shoe brands, including other Brooks shoes, but the Brooks Ariel (Angel/Shadow) is the only athletic shoe I can wear. The toe box of the Green shoe is too narrow. The Ariel offers an excellent arch support insert and with the added (arch) support outside the shoe, I have tossed out my foot inserts. This is the Cadillac of shoes. Wanted - larger toe box area with some type of mesh material that does not stretch out so much and more color options, too. Why do men have the better color choices?

I have been wearing Brooks Ariel for years and years - with orthotics and gel heel pads - with much success! Not anymore! Confirmed with the Brooks Running Shoe company that the Ariel model has had some "slight" changes. Well, the slight changes have caused me to have feet and back pains that I haven't been bothered with since I first starting wearing Ariels years ago. The shoes are great, just know they have increased the arch support and if you are prone to prolapsing - it exaggerates that issue. I am going to try the Brooks Addiction now.

I use custom orthotics and have a high instep. These are very comfortable, but they do not feel nearly as wonderful as the NB 1120 shoe that has been discontinued. I tried these because they are supposed to help with plantar fasciitis and mine is still flaring up, but I don't blame the shoe for that. I would recommend these very highly.

I couldn't wear these due-seemed to make my plantar fasciitis worse. Even tried with my orthotics but just couldn't make them work. I liked the look of the sneaker just didn't help me with my issues.

I love this shoe! Great cushioning & support. Felt very true to size. My only complaint is that the green fabric on the top of the shoe by the inside ankle is worn after just a few weeks of wear. Makes the shoe look much older than it is.

This shoe was wide enough for my very wide feet (EE to EEE depending on the manufacture. Try finding anything you want on your feet in those widths...not much out there for women. These shoes are very comfortable but I wish they would make it in browns to so I can use them while working outside. I used to always buy New Balance because they were the widest shoes around but they have narrowed their toe box and the widest part of the shoe.

Have only worn these once for a run, but seemed pretty good. I think they run a 'little' small. I'm normally a 12, but ordered a 13 and they fit pretty well. Sorry it's not a more in depth review, but as I said, I've only worn them once for a 4 mile run

I got these shoes just over a year ago due to plantar fasciatis and bone spurs on one foot. They work great with an orthotic, look sporty although I only use them for walking, and have been very comfortable. My only complaint? They have developed a loud squeak! I just purchased another pair, as I will be traveling to Hawaii next month and taking a night flight home. If I get up and move around during the night, my fellow passengers will be woken up. I hope my new pair will be quieter. Otherwise, a great shoe!

I've had flat feet and over pronation since a teen but now that I'm in my late 40's, I need heavy duty arch support. I wear them walking and on the elliptical trainer. On my 1st walk, I wanted to end early so I could return these shoes - my arch ached but I got used to them. No pain now. They look okay, wish arch support didn't have to mean no dowdy style.

Great support, stability, and cushioning especially in the heel. Would like even more arch support but I wore these shoes for 8 months before they began to wear down and I never had a comfort issue. They look great on too. A step up from New Balance shoes. I wore the 12WW and they fit very well.
