Perfect boot. My feet stayed warm and dry even in 8" of snow. I have a very high arch and most boots are not comfortable; these feel wonderful. I highly recommend them. Love Zappos too!

Easy off and on. I leave them tied and wear them like a slip-on boot. They keep my feet warm in the cold Minnesota weather. Nice and high for deep snow. Can easily tuck my jeans in them. I have a med-wide foot, and these boots are not too tight with heavy socks. I am very happy with them.

These are great boots. It took a bit to get used to the non-Uggs feel on the inside but they are definitely more comfortable for a long walk. My feet were dry and warm walking in 5 inches of snow and slush. Amazing! And they are really gorgeous. I have received many compliments. As for fit, they are a bit snug in the toes and loose in the heels. After wearing with a Smart Wool sock, they fit well. Get them! You won't regret it!

These boots are awesome and keep my toesies toasty through the Midwestern snow. Expensive, yes -- but you won't need any other shoes all winter.

These are fabulous boots! They may be the only shoes I wear all winter! They are cute and functional. I was so thankful for them today when I stepped out of the car and into a 2 inch slushy puddle. They keep my legs and my feet really warm. These were a Christmas gift from my husband, and he scored major points with these! Love 'em!

These Sorels are super cute! Sadly, I followed other reviewers' advice and ordered half a size down (size 6). It's a bit too snug.

The best boot I've owned. Great in the snow and super warm. Have received many compliments from people who say they never realized Sorrel's made such a stylish boot.

Twenty-two inches of snow was dumped on this glorious city the other day, and I found myself at a loss, without appropriate foot wear; wich is important for a girl who walks many miles a day. I did my research and decided to purchase the Sorel "Cate The Great" boot. "Great" doesn't even begin to cover this boot. These boots have kept me cozy, warm, dry and comfortable over the last few days of being put to the test. The height is great for navigating waist high snow mounds, the fleece lining has kept me warm and not a snow flake has managed to make its way to the interior. I couldn't be happier with my purchase and Zappos' fabulous service (overnight delivery despite hazardous city conditions)...and I'm already getting compliments on how cute they are. Don't you just love when fashion and function meet?

I absolutely love this boot. I could not be any happier. I live and commute in downtown Chicago, and have not fallen or slipped once. They do run big. I am an 8.5 normally, and I am wearing the 8 and it fits like a very warm snug glove. I used to own the Joan of Arctic and this one is so much better. Worth every penny.

I am always receiving compliments about these boots. Very stylish, comfortable, and warm. These are definitely going to serve me well during the cold Alberta winters and, if they are anything like my last pair of Sorels, they will last a very long time. My only criticism is I wish that they came in half sizes.

This is a cool boot that keeps you warm and dry. It is not heavy and clunky like the old school Sorel's. I went down in size and they fit great even with a smart wool sock. Get them!

I recently bought these and they were super cute! Unfortunately, they rubbed on my Achilles tendon something fierce. At first it wasn't that bad, but after three days of walking to work in the snow, they were pretty painful. The shoes are cute, but for the price, they shouldn't be uncomfortable at all.

I read the reviews and ordered a size smaller and the boot was too small. I am usually an 8.5 or 9 and the 9 was perfect. Very stylish. Can't wait to try them out in the snow. They seem like they will keep me warm and last. Definitely a wise investment if it snows where you are. I would not buy these just for looks. They are definitely snow boots, as opposed to just cute boots to wear every day.

I wear a size 8 or 8, but these boots were too big. As other reviews said, they slipped on the heel. It is my opinion that these boots need to be tried on in a store, because I order from Zappos a lot and have never had a problem, but I don't even know if a 7 would work. However, I loved the way these boots looked on.

This boot is so cute! I have been eyeing it for the past couple of months and finally took the splurge; since moving to NYC I've been woefully without enough winter gear and this year I'm not going to take it any more! I normally wear a 9.5 and ordered a 9 based on reviews; it still feels maybe a half size too big but they are snow boots so I didn't expect them to fit perfectly... and that means jeans or leggings + thick socks will fit in them. I have pretty athletic (read: not skinny) calves, and they fit just fine - plus, the stretchy lacing means they go on and off very easily. Also, I have fairly wide feet, and these are great for that - plenty wide (I wonder if people with normal/narrow feet might even find them too large, but good for us wide-footed gals)! I did go back and forth forever trying to decide between the black and the gray, but am glad I got the black and think I'm going to keep them; I think they'll go with more things, and it's not like a perfect crisp black that clashes with warmer/neutral colors -- they seem to go with everything! The only complaint I have is the 'flatness' of them; I have high arches so I might consider some kind of insert for more arch support/shock absorption, since I can also feel the ground through the bottom of them. All in all, they are so cute...and I can't wait to wear them all the time. Bring on the blizzard!

The Sorel Joan of Arctic boots came up on my very first search, first page! and I loved them immediately... I searched other sites and still keep coming back to this one. In fact, it had all the qualities I was looking for... attractive, good for really cold weather(-32), waterproof with a rubber upper and leather up the leg, lace up, and a fur trim... so the rest of my search was just trying to find something similar. The only other boot close to it was the Sorel Cate the Great which I thought looked kinda plain and it was more ... but it keep coming up as a recommendation for me everywhere. I ordered both of them to try on because there are several reviews that mention something inside the Joan of Arctic boot poking into your Achilles, and I wanted to have at least one other option. I put my feet in the Joan of Arctics first ... walked around in them.... noticed the pressure from the boots on the back of my ankles (there is a stiff strip of leather down the back of the boot that bends in toward your leg that causes it) but it wasn't painful, just a little weird feeling. Also thought it felt tight on the top of my foot. If I had tried only this pair of boots on I would have been happy with them. I assumed I would wear thick socks with them, and eventually they'd break in a bit and it wouldn't be noticeable at all... then I tried on the Cate the Greats... They are so much more comfortable... fit me like a glove... I realized that even though the bottoms are the same siz, the Cates didn't feel bulky and heavy like the Joans did. I went back and forth in them for an hour or two with different pants and jackets.... noticed that it was easier for me to tighten the laces on the Cates to tie them ... the Joans' laces kept slipping out of the metal loops and I'd have to re-lace them, then tighten and tie 'em. It all made it worth it for me to pay the extra money and have a pair of boots that I wouldn't regret getting. It started snowing again yesterday and hasn't really stopped; I've worn the Cate's all day... They are still very comfortable, warm, and I think they look sexy. Happy to own the Sorel Cate the Great... and I returned the Joan of Arctic!

Like many people, I wish these came in half sizes. I use these boots when I am teaching outdoor recreation classes and they are great. Feet keep very warm but they do slip unless I wear thick socks. I receive many compliments on the style of these boots.

I have had the same pair of Sorel Waterfall boots for six years now. I know that the brand is durable and when it came time for me to get some new boots I naturally wanted a pair of Sorels. This time I wanted a boot that came up higher on the leg than the Waterfall styles. This boot was perfect except for the size. I wear an 8.5 and thought with thick socks that the 9 would be okay since there were no 8.5's available. I should have paid attention to the other reviews that said that these boots were true to size! My feet seemed to swim in these boots. Oh well, thank goodness Zappos has a great return policy. I will continue to shop for another pair of Sorel boots. FYI these boots are very toasty so thick socks are not needed.

I purchased this right at the end of fall, and although they made my feet look large, I can tell a smaller size would not be a good fit. They are extremely warm and kept my feet dry the one time I was able to wear them this winter. I feel that they are sturdy on icy New York streets, and warm. The only con is that I have to wear bulky socks with them because they rub my ankle in a weird way, but for a good sturdy winter boot to fit my calves, I'll take that deal.

I was so excited when I ordered these shoes! They look good, are waterproof and nice and tall. But when I tried them on, I realized that although they are supposed to be medium width, they are actually very tight fitting if you have anything other than an extremely thin feet. The shoes are extremely tight on the top of my feet, and therefore there is no way that I would ever be able to wear socks with these shoes!

After looking for months for a pair of boots to wear in snow western NY state, I finally decided to get these because they are semi stylish and had great reviews. I was not disappointed when I got them. They're comfy, if a little bit on the wide side, but after putting on a thick sock, they fit great. I like that there's no zipper on the side, only laces. I'm usually a size 9, and that's the size I ordered. If I went down a half size, they might fit better in width, but the length would definitely be too short. The style is good, different from the Ugg-ly boots that are everywhere. These are keepers. Not sure how they do on ice, but they're waterproof, which is perfect. They fit my calves fine and I can fit my jeans in the calf area without a problem.

Warm! The boot would have been perfect for me if it was a hair longer in the size 9, my normal size. The 10 would have been too large even with thick socks. The heel slips normally like a boot would, however, in the 10 it would have been annoying. And more importantly, I wish the styling of the front wasn't so wide. They looked too big for my taste, like duck feet. I know it is supposed to be somewhat of a duck boot; however, they are not as cute with skirts and dresses as I would like. The pictures as well as the video are deceiving. It probably looks different in the smaller sizes. Great boot if the front were a bit more feminine, meaning smaller. I am buying a Pajar style instead with a narrower looking front.

Because so many people said these run big, I initially ordered a 6 even though I wear a 7. This was the wrong thing to do. These are winter boots, and they're made roomy to be worn with thick socks. They're appropriately sized for that purpose, so I had to exchange the 6s for 7s. Also, these boots seem a bit inconsistent. They're super cute, so I'm willing to deal, but one boot of the first pair (6s) that I bought had a lump in the liner, which would have definitely caused discomfort over time. The second pair (7s) didn't have this, but the left boot shaft is slightly taller than the right - and it's just enough to notice. I'm going to take them to a cobbler to have the top trimmed down a bit, especially because the faux fur liner peeks out less in the taller boot and it looks different to the right. Overall, they're incredibly warm and cozy. They don't lace up tightly, so consider that you probably can't hike for miles in them. I think of them more as cute boots to wear in cold rain/snow conditions, to ski, to work, or shoveling snow.
