Shoes looked great and very high quality. The fit was however odd. I have a very standard sized foot and typically wear size 8. The shoes were very narrow at the ball of my foot and very loose at the heel. My heel slipped while the front felt very tight and uncomfortable. Sadly returning them.

Love these boots. I get so many compliments. They fit true to size. Had to wear a few times to break it in a bit. I did some serious walking in these boots and I must say, my feet did not hurt one bit. Great boot and well made. Love the smell of the leather too. Will definitely be purchasing another pair of Frye boots.

Bought the slate which is a rich brown with some black undertones. Awesome color. Very versatile. The Melissa collection is consistent in size, comfort and style. Best boots on the market. The short fits like the tall. I can wear these for 8-10 hours, on my feet most of the time and at the end of the day, my feet feel great. No pain or discomfort. Perfect heel height!

I love boots, but have a difficult time with a good fit, so I only buy Frye. They've been in the boot-making business for about a 100 years. They know what they're are doing. The quality and fit work great for me.

Beautiful and comfortable

I wanted these boots in the WORST way! They are absolutely gorgeous, with a polished leather that smells wonderful and is very supple. But my feet are a C width - I can wear a B in many brands, but there isn't any room to spare in these boots. I got them on a good sale, hoping I'd be able to wear them, but they are going to have to go back; my feet won't tolerate the tightness in the ball of the foot. Sigh. I really want a pair of Frye boots, but they need to make at least a few in wider widths!

Unfortunately, these cute boots were too narrow for me. Back they go.

Love these boots, hope to get them in another color. They are worth the price as they are well made. They do take a bit to break in, but are then very comfortable.

Great Frye boots. Color, style absolutely perfect. However, they took a few days of breaking in, the top is made of harder leather and may feel like restricting movement as foot moves in walking. I expect it to get a bit more flexible and softer as it gets more use. Overall great boots though.

Very odd sizing Frye, that the hey?.. I normally wear 8.5 so ordered that size and the shoes are super oddly shaped with over a inch of toe space but narrow on the sides. My foot is slipping around in there so I can only imagine how they'll be once the leather is broken in.. returning these for sure. Order at least half size down, and prob only good for narrow feet

Very cute boot. I wear an 8B in most shoes and boots. These are too narrow. I got them on and off fine. The heel slipped a bit so to go larger to an 8 1/2 would be too big. My foot may be slightly wider than most, but it's still not wide. Its too bad I have to return. Very well made and would have lasted years.

Very cute, I love the look. It's been a while since I've owned a pair of Frye boots, so I forgot about the breaking in weeks/months. These are pretty stiff. Not much arch support and they feel narrow. My plan is to wear them every day until summer demands flip flops because they are so cute.

Love these boots! The sizing was tough--I'm normally an 8.5, but ordered both the 8.5 and 8, since Frye's have run big for me. The 8 was a tiny bit narrow at the ball of the foot and toes (and I have narrow-normal feet), the 8.5 definitely too big (long). I kept the 8, got crazy blisters, but after a week of duct tape on the friction parts of my feet (while wearing the boots tramping through coffee farms in Nicaragua) no blister action at all. I definitely can't wear thick socks with these, but it's nice to have thin sock/tights boots. They stretch a bit after a few minutes of wearing, and I have a feeling they'll stretch more permanently in a while, like my other Frye's. Soles are a little slippery on smooth floors (I almost wiped out on the smooth airport floors!).

I received these boots as a gift. I get compliments on them frequently and really nice craftsmanship. The fit is right on. This is my only pair of shoes with leather soles, and they are really slippery. The only down side is the dark brown color scuffs really easily. The Frye's leather conditioner kind of buffs scuffs out but its not perfect. I use the conditioner every other week. I expect the boots will develop a nice distressed patina over time. I wear them in an office setting and with everyday jeans too. Really versatile, and easy to pull on and off. I'm happy enough with these that I'm looking out for sales my next pair of Frye's!
