I like the Frye company, so I wanted to like these shoes. But they hit right across where my big toe meets my foot (I have slightly long toes at size 9), and hurts as soon as I put it on. Also, the scoop part of this, where it is cut out along the top of the foot, is wide, so it made my relatively slender feet look like duck feet. Not a good look. I ended up going for a different style flat from a different company, with a bit more of a squarish toe like a real ballet shoe.

Length feels accurate for a size 6 but is too tight on top at toe area of shoe. I have a high instep so that may be the problem, It was cutting into the top of my foot. Too uncomfortable so will try a 1/2 size larger.

I go through 3-5 pairs of black ballet flats a year, and love my Frye boots, so I decided to do an experiment to see if these $148 flats would stand up to my almost daily wear better than the Steve Madden ballet flats that have been my staple for years. These held up slightly longer (5-6 months in comparison to the 3-4 months I get with cheaper shoes), and were more comfortable, but NOT more comfortable and durable ENOUGH to justify the price jump of making them my regular purchase. I love 'em, and if you don't wince at buying a $148 pair of ballet flats, I highly recommend! But I just can't afford it all the time...

These shoes light and comfortable. They have a nice thick leather sole that feels good to walk on without being squishy. The upper leather is a little thin, but it is soft and comfortable. I would give it 5 stars if the upper was thicker.

Really cute and stylish flat. Looking forward of wearing this spring. It was recommended to me that I add more rubber to the sole because I live in a wet and rainy place.

Really liked the look of this shoe, but too narrow for my foot. I have a bunion on one foot and it pinched. Quality leather and construction.

I like these shoes. They're okay. Yeah, they work. But they're just okay. The pebbly leather makes them less dressy than I'd like them to be, and if they had cost less, they'd be fine. They just don't make my heart sing, you know? They're ordinary.

I tried these and they were short, so I ordered the next longer size; they felt exactly the same length. The soles are incredibly slippery, though after they are scuffed a bit that will probably not be a problem. No, despite the lovely colors and the fabulous service, these are going back.

Nice shoes. They are comfortable but do not offer much support. The leather is very soft and rich looking, but is easily scratched and scuffed. I recommend buying a good leather polish to go along with these. I use Allen Edmonds Premium Shoes Polish in Chestnut.

While I love Frye boots and really want to love their shoes they just aren't the same quality and not nearly as durable. Styling is attractive but tend to stretch out and feel 'sloppy' after a while.

This is a beautiful ballet flat but it is narrow in the toe. These are too expensive to wear when they are this uncomfortable. I'm sorry to say they are going back.

I anticipated a grey shoe. The ones I received, in charcoal antique, actually appear to be dark brown. Comfortable shoe, though, and with the leather sole, good for the dance floor!

I ordered these shoes in black and the color is a bit flat. I have them in cognac and love them but I feel there are better options for black ballet shoes. As others have mentioned, the sole is leather which makes them slippery and not practical for wet weather so for the pair that I have I had a rubber sole added by a local shoe repair store.

Best ballet flat. I debated between sizes 8.5 and 9 and the 9 was perfect. I was hesitant on the price but they were well worth it. Super comfortable for a flat and they look great. I ordered the charcoal and I can wear them with almost any color pant/top combination. I highly recommend.

These are very cute shoes, unfortunately they were too loose in the heels for me and kept flopping off, although my toes were snugly wedged in the toes of the shoes. The smoke color is slightly brown, whereas the charcoal is a nice grey. These are comfortable shoes, cute on. Not for those with narrow feet. A note on the size: In most shoes I wear an 8. In Frye I wear a 7½ with room to spare in the toe. However in these particular shoes my toes hit the end in a 7½. So in that sense they are true to normal size, but for Frye they are half a size smaller than their other shoes.

Great shoes! They are a perfect little flat that will stand the test of time. I highly recommend getting 1/2 size larger since the leather is a bit thin and it will show the outline of your toes there at the tip of the shoe. That's just not cool.

I have a few pairs of Frye boots (well, more like 5) but this is my first pair of Frye shoes. I've had them for about a month and am wearing them right now. The leather is beautiful, but there's really not much to the shoe and I don't think they are worth the price. That said, I find myself wearing them a lot. It's nice to have a simple flat that goes with everything. I have the navy, which works really well as a neutral. I'd buy them again because I'm a sucker for nice leather, but I'd still feel guilty spending so much for such a simple little shoe. As for size, I'm between an 8 and 8 1/2 and I always get an 8 in Frye.

This shoe felt true-to-size and was comfortable, but the color is much darker than I expected. Even in a well-light room, the color is much closer to black than a navy blue.

These shoes are so nice looking and the leather is incredibly supple. The color is rich and I love wearing these for work and play. I get a lot of compliments and they are prefect for work without looking like some of the other nice leather flats that are a bit too frumpy. I can't wear these for more than one day in a row or my feet start hurting from lack of support so I try to rotate shoes throughout the week but I find I love the way these look with almost all of my outfits so I want to wear them daily! I bought one pair in Berry Leather but it took 3 different shipments of 8.5 to find one that fit me right. So I guess keep in mind that the sizing is not consistent on these and you might have to order multiple pairs of the same size to get the right fit. My biggest complaint is that the pair I own have discrepancies in the molding of the leather especially in the heal. One of the first pairs I received had this issue in the toe box as well. I noticed you can clearly see the indents, sagging, and extreme waving of the leather on the heals of some of these shoes in the Zappos pictures. They look collapsed and although I know leather is supposed to be imperfect I feel this is too much of an inconsistency for the price of these shoes. I expect better quality from Frye. I regret not sending them back and ordering another pair in hopes that the leather would hold better in the heal (but who knows how many times I would have to order and ship back to get the right size without leather issues). I'm tempted to get another pair in another color but I'm not looking forward to the hassle of ordering multiple pairs to get the right fit and quality.

Cute shoe but narrow in the toe. I would need to size up in order to wear this. So, goes back.

Look carefully at the antique/distressed leather finish if you have not worn Fryes before. I get comments that my shoes look worn out but I like this textural look and just laugh. They are soft and pliable but do not offer arch support. Having enough room for a cushy inner sole I added makes a big comfort difference.

The Frye Carson Ballet is a pretty little flat and the leather is quite nice. The Cement color is beautiful and would be a nice neutral for many things. This flat would be great for shorts and capris. The shoe ran a little short on me though. I usually wear an 8.5 M but my toes were jammed into the end. I would've needed to try a 9 M but ultimately, I just returned it without reordering. I wanted something I could also wear with some casual summer dresses and I didn't think this little flat was quite what I was looking for.

It is a beautiful, well-made shoe. My only qualm is that it has a slippery sole. I have tried to roughen it up but it is still pretty slippery.

Fabulous flat! These are my first Frye flats, and will not be my last. My feet are "picky"...wide with bunions. These flats wrap so beautifully around my "problem areas" it looks like I have different/better-looking feet. ;) The sides do not gap out when I wear/walk in these shoes. The leather quality is amazing (just like my Frye Melissa button boots.) My suggestion on sizing if you are between sizes (I'm usually a 7 1/2 - 8) is to go with the smaller size. 7 1/2 fits well, with a little wiggle room for my toes. As other reviews have noted, the outer bottom soles are slightly slippery, but I'm sure after a few wears on the sidewalk I'll be good to go.

These are simply cut, but the design on the leather is wonderful. It is silver but the pattern makes the effect not too silvery.
