Very comfortable shoes. Just change out the orange laces for black to fly a little more under the radar.

I'm a heavy runner, but with no pronation issues. These shoes provide excellent support with no stability correction. They're also quite light and breathable, which is a plus. There's a little too much reflective plastic for my taste, but I appreciate having it when I'm out after dark.

Was looking for a breathable sneaker that was comfortable and stylish just to wear in warmer weather. Exactly what I was looking for.

Excellent shoe, comfort-wise. They’re particularly great to wear for indoor exercise, and ideal for light jogging and walking. I loved the extra wide option for the front portion of the foot.

First off I would like to say that this is the first on line product review of any kind that I have done, but I am doing it here because Zappos site made buying my shoes from them very helpful. Specifically, their use of an interactive foot-bed to compare shapes of various makes and their outstanding return policy. Now onto the shoe review. I like the Nimbus 12 shoe. but do not "love it". First introduced to Asics Nimbus line with the Nimbus 4, that shoe was a revelation, fitting like a soft glove over the top of my foot while keeping my foot from sliding around and all the while providing the cushioning and stability I was looking for, as I run a mix of mountain roads and trails (read knee pain not flaring up after mid to long runs). I am over 40 and over 200lbs (6'-2", lest someone say you just plain need to drop weight) and running while not a passion is the most consistent form of exercise I have found to keep my weight in check. The new Nimbus 12 works to accomplish the same as the old #4's, but it does not seem to hold onto my foot as well unless I pull the laces very tight, and when I do that then they are not as comfortable, so I am not fond of the "ergonomic" off-set. Experimenting with different lacing patterns have definitely helped and while I will certainly consider this model again, I will also look at other shoes as too.

Great running shoe, lightweight and still cushions the foot! Tried a pair of Nike shoes but had to go back to Asics, they never let me down!

I really like these shoes. The footbed is very forgiving and the support is still stable. The shoes are light enough for what they are, and I think they look pretty good too. One note, there is a gel pad right at the ball of your foot. I never would have bought these if I tried them on first thinking that the bump would be annoying. But it turns out that the extra padding is in just the right spot to give you the cushion to go a few extra miles.

I was rather let down by the Gel Nimbus 12. I've trusted Asics in the past and never had any big issues until I tried this shoe. I run long distance mileage and needed a shoe that would keep up, unfortunately this wasn't it. Within 3 weeks, I blew out a chunk of gel located in the outside of the forefoot (and I'm 6 foot 2 and weigh 170)! Needless to say, this pair of shoes went downhill from that point on. Thank you Zappos for your excellent return policy.

Still on the fence about these shoes. Pros: Great ankle support and very supportive overall, superbly cushioned, relatively lightweight Cons: superbly cushioned and almost to the point of over-cushioned. I feel like I'm a little disconnected from the road and that I expend more energy during running trying to compensate for the cushioning. Like all running shoes, this version takes a while to get used to. After about 3 weeks I'm liking them more and more, but I just started to develop some ankle pain on the tail-end of runs. I am 6'8 at 230 lbs, so the cushioning is necessary and welcome.

Update to previous review - I really like this shoe but beware! I think Asics might have a potential defect. I have owned 3 pairs of these shoes and mostly do running with them (no trails) and all three pairs had a tear on the outside mesh. Anyone else have this? Otherwise very comfortable shoe but something is wrong with the mesh, that's why only 3 stars.

Not really that impressed with this shoe. My previous Asics Cumulus Gel's, which cost half, were just as comfortable. Also, these shoes feel narrower than the Cumulus as well. I've put more than 25 miles on these shoes and they still just don't "wow" me. I won't get them again, that's for sure - not in this economy. The construction and quality of the shoe is not in question at all, Asics quality is always good, it's the fit and overall performance of the shoe that I am disappointed with.

Just got these shoes and I was excited to finally get it in the size I need. What a disappointment when I tried them on. I currently wear a size 13 Nike and these were a 13.5 2E. They felt smaller and tighter than the ones I am wearing. Definitely not true to size. I would go one size bigger than your normal shoe size.

Somewhat of a disappointment in the side support/stability department. The gel sole is comfortable however. I am limited in selection on size 13 1/2 and have been satisfied with other ASICS shoes I have purchased. I probably would not buy this model again, however.
I'd also recommend:
Not many 13 1/2s from which to choose

I was very disappointed with the sizing. I ordered a 14 double wide, and it was actually slightly narrower than a paid of Nike single wide shoes. The only reason I was willing to put up with the atrocious appearance was in the hopes that they would fit well.

I ordered a 4E a half size larger than normal. It was too snug in the toe box. Fine lengthwise.

I have been wearing the Nimbus for about 5 years; my go to for a men's size 7 4E width. I have a very wide foot and these usually fit perfect in the 4E size. Now the 4E is more like a "slightly" wider regular width shoe. Can t recommend anymore. And the off center lacing causes much more problems than it solves.
I'd also recommend:
At a loss for a true 4E width.
