Hunter boots are the best. These are a bit shorter than the standard tall, and much easier to slip on for a trip to the garden or mailbox. True Hunter comfort with beautifully crafted wellies!

I purchased the Hunter Original Short boot to replace a fairly new pair of XtraTuf boots, a common brand worn in Alaska. Being 5'1" I needed the short shaft and the XtraTufs were uncomfortable due to the higher shaft. The short shaft also allowed more room to tuck in pants. These are great for anybody, but especially for us short people! Quality-wise, I really like them. They seem every bit as hardy as the XtraTuf boots and I expect they will hold up just as well. The tread isn't as aggressive as on the XtraTufs, but the flip side is the Hunter tread doesn't pack in the mud and become slippery as the XtraTufs often do. I normally take a size 7.5M in a shoe, but purchased the Hunter boots in the equivalent of a women's size 8 and I added a pair of insoles to take up a bit of room and provide a soft foot bed. The Hunters are really nice boots.

Upon opening the box, I really love the matte navy. I also like the shaft height but it was a teeny snug around the mid calf and I was wearing athletic leggings. I am going to exchange for the next size up and hope it might be a little roomier. I have been wanting Hunter rain boots for a long time and need to make it happen.

I took good care of my boots and rarely used them, disappointed that they cracked, but glad they lasted almost 7 years.

I'm originally a size 8, but ordered one size down because of previous customer comments and it wasn't definitely a good decision. The boots fit great and I love the color of these. They're excellent in the snow and rain and are super comfortable.

Great boot! Fits great and looks great! It's a little annoying to take off though.

The shaft is a bit higher than I expected and quite narrow. The problem was not getting them on, the problem was getting them off! They are more confortable than rainboots in general, probably because they are narrow. I have to return them because I need help to get them off, especially if I wear the fleece lining.

Too snug around the calves to tuck anything in (I have 16" calves and wear a size 9).

These shoes are great; the only thing I would consider when wearing it is to wear knee high socks to avoid the rub from the shoes against the calves.

Great boots - look good, super comfortable, keep my feet warm and dry. The Aubergine is a nice color - a little more unusual than the black, but not bright and garish. The boots are maybe a little too wide at the top (they gape a bit on me), but I can deal with that. They run a size large, so buy the next one down from your usual.

My calves don't fit in the tall Hunter's, but the short Hunter's are great. They keep me dry! Only down side is that if you don't wear jeans or pants or high socks, the top of the boot will irritate your skin. I learned this the hard way.

Nice looking boot. If you wear bare foot it makes an annoying clapping sound with every step. Other than that, excellent quality and look.

Shipping was quick and customer service was excellent. I typically wear an 8.5 and when the 8\'s I ordered were too small, 9\'s were immediately sent to replace them. These boots are perfect for gardening and yard work- very easy to slip on and off.

So many great reviews, but personally, I felt disappointed with these boots. They're not flattering - the Talls may be better in this department. They have a strange fit. The instep seemed tight, but the boot felt loose once the foot was fully inserted. The collar of the boot kept banging against my calf when I walked - rubber is stiff and hard. They're also quite heavy - wasn't expecting that.

Tried the 8 and they were way too big...size 7 with a sock is too short! I guess I need a 1/2 size that Hunter unfortuntely doesn't make.

I think these boots are super heavy and are stiff and feel loose even though they are not. I’ve wore them when it’s freezing cold outside and they do not keep you warm.

I have barely worn these boots. And only in my yard. They are stored inside. There is a layer of coating already coming off and they look awful.

Love the color! It fits true to size and is quite comfortable. No breaking in necessary. I love them and they’ll be so helpful on rainy fall days.

These are WAY better than the ones they replaced! They actually lasted more than a few months. They've worked great, even when shoveling. If I had to give one complaint - the ankle portion is a bit tough to fit my foot through, but it's not uncomfortable once they're in. They work with thick socks, so, as long as I can actually get my foot in, we're good. I get a ton of compliments on them when I wear them off the farm. Also, as a short person - 4'11" - these fit like they're supposed to under the knee.

These short boots are awesome! I’m a size 9, and the 9 fit perfectly. They’re great boots for when I take my dog out in the rain. My feet stay dry! Thinking about getting the tall version also. The Gale Green is a pretty neutral color; can’t go wrong!

Beautiful light blue color and excellent height for a rain boot. This is my second pair of Hunter boots and I'm enjoying the "Short" height compared to the tall originals I owned that could be a little hot at times. If you have skinny ankles/calves, there's a bit of additional space and flopping, but it's less bothersome in the short version of these rain boots than the tall version. I had my last pair for 13 years before they started to crack, so I'm hoping the new pair last that long, too!

so easy to slip on and has a wider calf so pants don’t get bunched up. I like these even better than my tall hunter boots.

I mostly wear a 7.5 heal and a 8 flat shoe. Got the Hunter Original Short in 7 based on it having a small heel and other reviewers saying their normal size was too big. The Short is just right for my shorter legs. The top of the shaft does not slapping my calves, it does dig into the back of my knee like taller height boots tend to do, and it's aesthetically proportional. My boot fits perfect with thick socks which in muck boots I wear year round for comfort and cold weather. When I say thick socks, I mean think all over, athletic, sweat your buns off thick socks. The Socks provide just the right added cushion, prevent chaffing/rubbing and gives a solid no ankle/heel slip support. Foot doesn't slide at all inside the boot. As others have said, the boot becomes snug with thick socks so if you tucker yourself out, it's great to have a helping hand getting them off. I will absolutely replace with another Hunter when/if these wear out.

Gosh darn I love these boots but why can’t there be half sizes?! These seem very durable and certainly water proof. I’m almost always a true 8 except with running shoes, in which I’ll tend to be an 8.5. I ordered a 7 and an 8 in these after reading the reviews. The 7 was definitely too small. Without socks, my toes touched the end of the boot. I wore the 8 around the house and my foot kept sliding up like I was going to walk out of the boot. Maybe with thick socks they would have been better but I’m looking for a year round boot and these won’t do. They also felt wide. I have an Ug* rain boot that fits perfectly as an 8 and doesn’t nearly have the room in the foot bed that these do. So if you have a high arch or wide foot, I’d bet these would be a great option for you!
