This boot is very well made and looks nice on. I like that you can tuck your jeans within the boot for extra protection from the rain. I would recommend this boot. This boot is rugged and it is heavy in weight.

I'm a size 7.5 and took the advice to order a half size down in the Hunter Original Short. I had on a thin pair of socks and had a hard time getting them on through the ankle. Once they were on, my toes were a bit too close to the end of the boot to be totally comfortable. Trying to get them off was even more difficult. They are a very well made boot and I may try a size up, however, Zappos does not have the size and color at this time. As always, very happy with Zappos speedy delivery and return service - the best!

I wear a 37 in Dansko and they are a little big, so ordered a six in the Hunter. They are a bit too long and wide, but if I had ordered a five I wouldn't have been able to get my foot past the ankle. They are not easy to get on and off, have to sit down to wrench them off. They do have a stable footbed but I put my orthotics in because there isn't enough arch for me and it still isn't quite enough. I can't wear them more than a few hours because my damaged feet won't take it. Really good for people that have no foot or walking issues. They are a quality boot, very well made.

The boot itself is great, I have other Hunter boots and they are all made well. I think they all tend to run a little large, but it works if you plan on using the wellies socks in the winter. However, the Aubergine color I got was not attractive at all. All Hunter boots have the natural "dusting" from the rubber, but with the purple it refused to come off and made the boot look extremely dirty. The dust comes back within minutes and it looks like you just sloshed through a puddle of mud. I have not had this issue with my other Hunter boots of different colors.

I had wanted a pair of Hunter original boots for years, and finally late last winter I bought them, in green. They were so cute when I was not wearing them. Unfortunately they were too tall for my legs, hitting me right at the knee. I am 5 4. It was a struggle to tuck in my jeans (I had to use strapping tape around the ankles), and they looked ridiculous (thin rubbery-green lower legs and big puffy denim thighs), so I would have needed to invest in different pants or tights to wear with them. The boots were pricey enough by themselves. As I was tromping around my house, deciding whether to keep the boots, I walked upstairs so I could look at the boots in the hall mirror. Each step up was painful, the boots ramming the tendons behind my knees. Ouch, ouch, ouch! That was the final straw. I sadly returned them. I then ordered a pair of short Hunter boots in black. I normally wear a size 8.5 and ordered size 8 (UK size 39) based on reviews that they ran large. The boots fit fine. They are 10 inches tall, instead of 16 inches like the tall boots, and hit about mid-shin. They don't have the same British charm. In fact, they kind of remind me of fireman boots. But they are funky and waterproof and they are perfect for wet snow and rain puddles. My short boots have already seen a lot of use. I love them. I do hope that someday Hunter will make boots that are 14 inches tall; they would look similar to the original boots but could be worn by women of average height.

These boots are really cute - they are a little uncomfortable though, very stiff through the ankle. Do not wear them without socks, you will get blisters for sure. However, I'm sure after a couple of wears with some nice thick socks they will break in well! The short boots are a good option for people like me who have "athletic" calves. I am also very short and have tiny feet, so the shorter style is not as overwhelming to my frame.

At first I was skeptical to spend $125 for a pair of rubber boots, but with these boots you get what you pay for! These boots are awesome, they are a good quality boot that will last a few years. I love the matte eggplant purple, They do scuff a bit but I like that look. I typically wear a size 8.5- 9 woman's and I bought a size 8 and it fits perfect, so they do run a bit larger.

I have large calves and the circumference of this boot was too small by just an inch or so. It was almost there, but because of my large calves, the shaft of the boot puckered a bit. The size of the shoe seems about a half size larger, but it was probably designed to be worn with either thick socks or the welly socks. I didn't try it out, but I think it would fit perfectly in terms of foot size with the thick/welly socks. I wish the boot fit so I could have kept them, but it just didn't work out. So those of you with large/wide calves, be aware this may or may not work for you.

I bought these in black with a welly sock, and I looked like I was wearing Santa's boots! These are much wider than the original tall. I am 5'8" 130 and these did not work for me at all. The size 9 fits w/ the welly sock, the 8 fits me w/out, I normally wear 8.5 in shoes.

So I should start by saying I ordered these boots after reading numerous reviews that said the calves were larger than usual. So I knew before hand what might happen when I got these boots. And it did. The boots were fine. A little short on my legs, but the tall Hunter boot was too tall (I am 5'2"). So I ordered a size 5 (I usually wear a 6½ or 7 in women's) in the kid's version and voilà! They were perfect. So if you have small calves (mine are 13½") this might work better for you, not to mention you can save money!

I really like these boots - very sturdy and comfortable. Sizing is the biggest issue. I am a 9 1/2, not quite a 10. I originally bought the 8/9 because everyone said to size down, but I ended up buying the 10. The boots are meant to wear with socks, even thick ones, so I wanted that option. If I were to wear thin socks then I will need to put a liner in the boot to prevenet my foot/heel from moving a little bit. Also, because these are the short boots, I can see myself either wearing taller socks or tucking my pants in because the top of the boot touches my calf when I walk. Without fabric next to my leg I think it might end up driving me crazy if I was walking a lot. I bought these to work in the garden, not to strut around city streets.

I live in Chicago and need warm boots to last through the winter months. While I accepted that these were mostly stylish, I still expected them to be somewhat practical! They are excellent for keeping me feet dry from snow and rain, have a great grip on the bottom and are easy to walk long distances in, but warm they are not. The description also listed that the lining wicks away moisture, which is not true. I ended-up needing to also purchase sheep's wool insoles and thick socks to help keep my feet warm and dry on the inside. (The Hunter brand fleece socks are only for the taller boots.) I don't think I'd purchase another pair, but they will work while they last.

I ordered a size smaller than I wear and with insoles they are a pretty good fit. They are very cute and I am quite pleased.

Amazing and perfect. Everything I could ask for in a boot.
I bought the short ones because the tall ones seem unnecessary to me given the amount of snow we receive. They are not warm at all so in the winter I just put on two pairs of socks for snowy and cold days. In the spring they will be perfect to keep my feet dry as I commute.

Even though my boyfriend thinks they look dumb, I love these boots. I have really big calves so with jeans tucked in the boots look silly, but I don't really care; form over function. Not only are my boots totally waterproof, but I don't have to worry about slipping, even in an ice storm! And with wool socks I can even wear these in a Chicago winter and be comfortable. I have blue and they go great with everything! Also I have a wide foot and these fit perfectly.

Disappointing boots for actual wet weather. I’ve had these a while but they fairly quickly started leaking at the seam with both soles. And the leaking has happened with another pair of Hunters. Now the rubber is splitting across the top. Dry rot? They may be fashionable but they don’t hold up under normal use. As an alternative i love my deck height XtraTuffs and wish they weren’t sold out of their version of this boot.

A little narrow and very little to no support. I ended up keeping the London fog boots as they were a bit wider and more supportive.

This review won't be very helpful for many. I bought these boots thinking they would be large enough for this year but the ankle was too narrow for my 6-month-out-from-surgery-fibula. Hopefully I can try again next year! They were very nice looking in the box!

I so wanted to love this boot. The the top of the boot hits at the back of my calf (no surprise there), but it quickly became uncomfortable to walk with the edge of the boot rubbing against the back of my legs. I have a pair of the tall ones and find them much more comfortable to wear for hours at a time.

Heavy and not very comfortable. I tried the tall boots first and actually liked them better. These feel heavier and dont fit well in the calf area. They stick out in the front and pinch slightly in the back. They are going back!

These didn't work for me. Tried them in two sizes, based on reviews. I'm a seven, and these fit length-wise, but there was too much room around my foot and heel. They are heavy; I imagine if I tried walking in them in mud my foot would come out. As a point of reference, my feet are long, flat, and bony, and I have Morton's toe (second toe longer than first). I'm also short (5'2") and these banged uncomfortably on my legs as I walked in them. The material is thick and stiff. Nice looking, if you have the right feet and are maybe a taller person.

Cute boot and good quality. However I think it would be a difficult fit for anyone with a high instep or slightly wider (but not wide) foot. It was just too hard to get on and off.
