I LOVE these boots! I have wide calves and these work great! They are a great alternative to the taller boots, but still just as stylish and practical.

Love these rain boots! They are super comfortable and easy to wear. I also purchased a pair of the socks, but I've never worn the socks with these boots, instead I wear a regular pair of socks and these boots keep my feet and legs warm during the rain and cold weather. I have narrow feet and wear a size 8, I purchased these boots in an 8 and they fit great.

I had a pair of Hunter short boots that held up for almost 5 years. The heel started to wear, so I searched around to find something that was short enough for my legs, which are on the shorter side. I wanted them to be a little taller without hitting my knee, but nothing hit at the right place on my leg. Ended up with these again. They come up about mid calf, which looks more casual but I suppose they are rain boots, after all. They are as sturdy as the first pair, but I was bummed to see the lining is a textured fabric and not the smooth gloss interior as my older pair had (which I purchased in 2010). It fits true to size if you're wearing a thick sock.

I have been obsessed with Hunter boots for a few years now. I first tried the tall and it was too tight in the calf and just felt bulky. They were also gloss and I got so annoyed with them always getting cloudy. This time I order the short boots in black matte and they are keepers! I'm a 9, I ordered a 9 and there's a little room, but the perfect amount for if I want to wear thick socks.

Couldn't be happier with these boots! This is my first investment into real rain boots, and I've already gotten to use them three times. They look adorable, and really keep my feet dry. I don't have to think twice about stepping into puddles to cross the street. I think I have wide feet or maybe tall feer, but I bought my normal size at the standard width and these feel great. I also have thick calves, which is why I chose the short boot. Would recommend!

I bought these blue beauties just in case it rained on my wedding day (it did) so we could at least have some outdoor shots. Unfortunately, it was literally a five hour deluge of water from the sky, so outside photos were not exactly possible anyway. Fortunately, I ended up with this really gorgeous and actually very comfortable pair of rain boots. The ankles are a little tight, and my new husband had to yank them off my feet every time I tried them on (and I tried them on a lot) but we are newlyweds and I think that means I now own him. (Or not. I did not read the rules.) I have a great pair of rain boots already in my actual favorite color of green (these were blue for one of my wedding colors,) so I gave these to my sister for helping me plan so much for my wedding. She loves them. Thank goodness we are the same size! I have athletic muscular calves, so they rubbed a little at the top when I moved, but many boots are tight, and these were not. Thanks for prompt shipping, Zappos! The extended forecast for my wedding called for gorgeous weather until just a week ahead of the event, so I ordered these at the last minute. They came promptly and were exactly what I expected to receive. I was so grateful!

Love this boot. Easy to slip on and off. I initially ordered a size up but it was way too large. Zappos (VERY quickly) exchanged them for a size smaller. These look classy with any rainy day outfit!!

I've never owned a good pair of rain boots, and given my urban walking commute to and from the Metro station, it was time. Hunter boots are pricey, but I see them as an investment that I can use for years to come. The taller (knee-height) style seemed too heavy and bulky so I opted for the calf-height in a practical Navy color. They do the job: I march without fear through mud and puddles. As others have noted, it's best to protect your calves, sweater tights or leggins from abrasion by wearing some protection - wool socks in my case.

These are very stylish boots. I have the Hunter Green and they look great. They are completely waterproof. I typically wear a size 8 in boots so I bought these boots in a US 8 and they were too large to wear with regular socks, my feet were swimming inside. The fit was perfect with a thick pair of wool socks, which I considered if I were to use this boot in cold weather. But since we live in California, I opted for a fuzzy pair of Dr. Scholl insoles instead. I found the insoles at the local drug store and they are for winter boots, so the insoles are covered with this faux shearling with lots of padding. It made the boot fit perfectly with thin socks, and also added much needed padding on the sole, something this boot lacks. I wear this boot with knee high socks because I don't like the feeling of the rubber rubbing directly on my calves. You could also wear this with leggings or tight jeans stuffed into the boot, but do not wear it with bare legs, as it is quite uncomfortable. I have had these boots for two years and have worn them through major downpours and have been very happy with them. I highly recommend using insoles!

I love my Thundercloud Short Hunter boots! I wear a 9.5 so my boyfriend got a 10. Way too big. Always go smaller! Returning mine for a smaller size.

I bought these boots for a trip up north. They are high quality, and I expect I'll have them for many years. They were not as clunky as I expected. A trim profile, yet not tight--and I wear a 9! They also come in a sturdy box for storage. The only downside is they are not great for lots of walking--when your socks slip down, and they will--the boot rubs on your calf. I have a mark on both calves.

These are great, and hit just below my large calf making them very comfortable. However, they looked a little funny with the length of my usual rainy weather coat, so I opted for the adjustable back Hunters.

Well, these really are great boots! I tried on 7 different pairs/styles, and these were the clear winner - particularly once I installed a woolly insert. I find they are nice and sturdy feeling, unlike the others I have tried, and I can tell they will last. Also, surprising easy to get on my foot. I think this is the start of a long and happy relationship. Love the "tent red" - it is a tomato (orange) red.

I had these on my list for quite some time before I decided to buy them and I'm so glad I did! I was really impressed with the quality of these boots not to mention the beautiful packaging. They're extremely durable and can be worn in snow as well. They run about a half size big, but that's nothing a thick pair of socks can't fix!

I've wanted a pair of Hunter Wellies for years! It took me a couple tries, but I finally got the right pair. I'm 5'3", the tall version were much too tall for me. They back would rub against the back of my knee and cause irritation. The shorts are perfect though! In between a 7.5 or an 8. I originally ordered a seven but when it came in it seems just the slightest bit too small. I returned for the eight and hear the tiniest bit big but pretty much perfect. I can put the Wellie socks in them and not be uncomfortable at all. The quality of these hunter boots is quite amazing. I've never owned a more comfortable pair of rain boots. Completely waterproof and also fashionable, if you like these boots will last me a lifetime. I waited five years wanting these boots, don't do the same as me! If you want them treat yourself and get them! You won't be disappointed.

I bought these for my daughter who is in NYC. Perfect for getting through the slushy sidewalks and puddles at the crosswalks. They run a little large. A thick sock is fine this winter but may be a pain in warmer weather.

I have not worn these much at all so I can't give a thorough review (we are waiting for the El Nino rain here in California). But I like the look, the dark blue color, which I think will go great with my dark jeans. I immediately knew I'd need thicker socks to make them fit properly as they run big. I can update once I've put them through some rain.

Love these rain boots! I initially wanted the long ones, but being only 5'4", the short ones looked way better and I was not drowning in them like I was with the long Hunters. I also have larger calves, so I worried about it fitting with skinny jeans, but they fit perfect. They do run a bit big. I wear a 9.5, but I got a 9 and they still fit a bit big, but nothing uncomfortable.

Love these Hunter boots! I had given up on the full-length hunters because they were just TOO tight around my calves and totally uncomfortable. I purchased these for an upcoming trip to the UK and absolutely LOVE them. They are super comfortable and hit just below my calf (I'm 5'5", size 8 in the boots). I am typically an 8.5, and went with an 8 in the boots and they fit perfectly. I was worried they would be too small, but it's not an issue at all. These are definitely expensive, but they are really a lifetime boot.

Love my new wellies! I'm usually a 7 1/2 in boots and the size 7 in these are perfect. I chose the swamp green (despite the name) and it was a great choice! The color is very versatile and like a dark taupe (not too green, not too brown). I can wear them with every shade of denim and leggings. I would highly recommend getting the boot socks because these hit the bottom of your calf and rub when you walk without that extra layer. The socks are really warm too, so on a spring day you're going to risk getting...well, swamp feet. ;) That is my only gripe. I look forward to rainy days now!

I bought this for my son's girlfriend and she loved them. She has the tall Hunters in black and says she likes these better. Delivery was very fast - I ordered late during Christmas, so I was glad to receive them on time.

Great classic welly! The colour green is actually a great neutral! The shorter height is perfect, and eliminates any worry about calf room.

I ordered these boots yesterday and I got them today. I'm a true size 6. The boots do run big. I purchased 3 pairs of the Hunter boot socks and the sherpa insoles. If you wear the boots with the liner, it's a perfect fit. If you want to wear it with thinner socks, I suggest to purchase the sherpa insoles to fill in the space. I love my Hunter boots! Gotta love Zappos customer service, too!
