These boots exceeded expectations in both fit and function. First, fit: My daughter and I both have narrow feet, so I purchased these boots based almost solely on the fact that they were the only narrow-width all-weather hikers I could find. They fit great! Both her tiny (6) feet, and my larger (8.5) ones, nice and snug width-wise, plenty of good support. In terms of function, they were warm and cozy and truly 100% waterproof. We used them on a recent trip to Iceland, where it seemed to rain nonstop, and our feet were warm, comfortable, and dry the whole time (even on a glacier hike). Definitely recommend.

These boots are amazing. My spouse bought me a pair of the Lowa (pronounced Lova) Renegade boots about 5 years ago. I wore them everyday and they finally got a small hole in the leather from extended use. The hole is about a mm from the rubber on the inner side of the boot where the base of the toes are. Remember, I wore these boots everyday. The tread was still in good shape and the overall boot was great! They broke in real well and the only other thing i can complain about is that the insoles wore out real bad but again ... I wore them everyday for 5 years. I would accidentally step into the creek with them on while fishing and my feet stayed dry. I have a knot on my right foot so I prefer a wide shoe/boot but they are out of stock. I bought the Mediums and I am currently breaking them in. I wish it was a little wider but i had to settle for the medium and honestly... its not that tight anymore. I WOULD ABSOLUTELY recommend these boots to anybody that enjoys being outside and in wet terrain. The ankle support is amazing. I have broken both ankles (as a child) and they like to roll on me any chance they get. The Lowa Renegade has completely stopped that from happening. I am one happy camper! And on a side note - The retailer Zappos has been phenomenal! The support is outstanding and their policies are WONDERFUL! I will definitely continue to use them for my footwear needs.

I am a fan. This is the seventh pair of this exact boot that I have ordered. I use them during all seasons - not too hot in the summers and warm enough with cozy socks during Colorado winters. I should probably be a sales rep for Lowa because I feel quite confidant about recommending them to friends and family. About the same time that the soles are becoming worn and a bit iffy on wet rocks and scree, the seams on the edges of the toe guard area start to split. That is usually after 2-3 seasons of hiking 3 days and 15-35 miles per week. Time for new boots!

I went on a long hike the first day I got these boots. The width is liberating for my feet. I have been wearing them every day for a week, and they have not disappointed.

They fit perfectly. I’m thrilled— they are stylish, durable as hooves, and that layer of shoe that keeps the sole of my foot up and away from the ground makes me just a fraction taller. I walked through a foot of snow carrying a dog in these, foot stayed dry.

EXCEPTIONAL shoes and even better customer service. I have owned many Lowas, in several styles and wear them for all sorts of activities. The Renegades are my favorite (Hi top and Lo rise, both are fantastic). I wear these daily, work and play, in all seasons. If they came in dress-up styles I would never wear anything else. I purchased the first pair years ago based on the recommendations of my local shoe store (love Zappos, but buy local, too!) for a bout of severe plantar fasciitis. The Renegades fit my feet perfectly, right out of the box - no inserts needed, no adjustments, no special lacing. Simply a perfect fit for my wide feet. The plantar fasciitis quieted down within a week. One pair I own recently developed a problem (which would not have been a surprise in any other brand, as they were several years old, but I expected more of Lowa). I contacted Lowa customer service to let them know that the pair was not up to snuff compared to others I own and they promptly replaced the problematic pair. I was stunned to find such good, old-fashioned, wonderful customer support these days. Thank you, Lowa. You have a very grateful customer.

I ordered these boots since I need them for our annual summer in Colorado. They fit perfect. I live in Pa so it is cold enough to wear. I thought I would have to break them in but wore them all day because they were so comfortable. Since I will be doing some hiking and some nights off the grid in Colorado, I needed a good boot. I am older and need to take care of my ankles and joints that have been through a lot. They are not heavy like my Danner boots and way more comfortable but seem as sturdy. Happy outdoors!

I splurged after sending back and forth lesser boots at lower prices. These were worth it. First of all, I need the wide, and Lowa is one of the few brands that has a good wide hiking boot. I went a full size over to accommodate really thick hiking boots. I wore these in Antarctica, over boggy trails in Scotland and Orkney and Shetland. I’ve been in snow and ankle deep in mud, rocky trails, swampy bayous, you name it. And they just rock. When I wear them out I’m buying another pair with no hesitation.

Lovely hiking boots. Well-made, super comfortable & I like the light-ish brown color, too. I wear a wide shoe (7.5W). Wearing these with one pair of thick socks, they still feel a tad too wide. But great if you need to wear bulkier socks or multiple pairs.

This is a solid hiking shoe, well made and sturdy. But I have wide feet and even the wide size ran narrow for me. The toe box is almond shaped, so this shoe will work better for people with narrower feet.

Awesome boot. We went to the Grand Canyon and multiple other areas in AZ and I never had wet or achy feet. I did get some excellent hiking socks to accompany the boot which helped. If you do not cover your ankle under the boot, the material is abrasive. I believe I will have these for life.

I love these boots. This is my 3rd pair of this exact Lowa boot. As we age (I'm 79), our feet change. I wore the first pair out, and though the 2nd pair is still in really, really good condition, I had to buy new as my feet have changed just enough to make them not as comfortable as I like when taking long hikes. The only minus, is that they pick up rocks, but that's no big deal. I also bought the Sole Softec Ultra for more support, balance, and a firmer fit. As I said...I'm 79, so I probably won't need to buy another pair.

I have read reviews about the soles of Lowa boots disintegrating after sitting in the closet. Well, the exact same thing happened to me. I had my Lowa boots for about 10 to 12 years and I loved them. I hadn't worn them much (my daughter had borrowed them a few times). Maybe they were worn 20 times in 10 years for light hiking. They were great for the cobblestones of Spain 9 months ago, so I wore them to Peru recently. They looked perfect when I packed them -- nothing wrong with them as far as I could tell. Can you believe, when I got to Machu Picchu, they started to fall apart! First there was a crack in the rubber at the side-bottom of one boot. Then before I knew it, both boots had the exact same crack. By the time I was finished walking around Machu Picchu the bottoms were totally beginning to separate from the tops! I have never seen a shoe or boot disintegrate like that! It's not like I had abused them in any way. I mainly wore them on dry trails and cobblestone streets in dry weather! I AM going to replace them with another pair of Lowas, however. These were incredibly comfortable and accommodated my orthotic insoles very well. I have trouble finding comfortable shoes, so I feel that I can live with them lasting 5 to 10 years. I just wish the company would own up to (what seems to be) a manufacturing flaw. I have read reviews where people complain to Lowa and they seem to just shrug it off. That's not right.

Excellent shoe. I wore the Vask shoe across England and it didn't have nearly the arch, ankle, or side support of the Lowa. This shoe would be better if the ankle height was a tad lower, but I'd buy it again. Highly recommend. Fine for hot or cold weather hiking.

This is my favorite hiking boot. After 7 miles my feet were getting tired across the arch in another brand of boot so I was told to look into this boot because it comes in ladies' wide sizes . And voila! my feet keep going happily after that 7 mile mark! I still have my old pair after 6 years but thought I should get an extra pair "in case." Love this boot.
I'd also recommend:
Merrill, Vasque

I found this boot to run 1 full size smaller than my usual size. Also, runs a bit on the narrow side. I do a lot of hiking and need a hiking boot with plenty of room in the toe box, for a nerve impingement problem I have in the metatarsals. I'm not sure this boot will work for me. The wide width is not currently available.

Wore these for a week in Sedona, AZ after only wearing them a few days out of the box. Broke in nicely, no blisters, and gave me a good boot to hike around the red rocks in. Wish the insoles held up a bit more- already peeling a bit and didn’t have a lot of arch support.

I kept reading reviews until I found the one I wanted, but I should have paid attention to how many reviewers noted that they have narrow feet and loved them. For me, the wide size was still too narrow, in the forefoot. I have to return them.

I really wanted to love these shoes, but they just didn’t fit me. I ordered size 7.5 wide, but they didn’t feel wide. My pinky toe rubbed against the side of the shoe. Also, the tongue and upper part of the shoe dug into my leg. Too bad! Zappos is terrific, though! I wish the boots had fit!

I would have given this five stars if the arch support had been better . I had to put orthotics in them in order to give me some arch support but other than that they are nice and narrow which I needed.

These are very well made boots and I wish they had worked. Narrow hiking boots are very difficult to find now (Vasque used to be my go-to but stopped making narrow). Unfortunately 9N was slightly too small, would have been fine for everyday shoes but not worth the risk in hiking boots, and 9.5N was too big even with insoles and thick socks. They're leather boots so still and hard to cinch tight unless they fit correctly, so still looking.

These have a bizarrely narrow forefoot and toe box for boots that are supposed to be wide. Most women with wide feet have a narrow heel and wider forefoot. Who has just a wide heel? Also didn't love to colors.

I have very wide feet for a woman. I read several reviews that these were a good option for women with wide feet. Not even close! I ordered these in Wide and they were narrower then Merrill Moab in the normal width. I am very disappointed as these weren't even close to a wide or even a medium width. Also, who makes a hiking boot without a rubber toe rand?

Boot has very pointy toe box and somewhat intrusive arch supports. Size 7 was right in length but pointy toe box pressed hard on my big toe. Boot is comfortable around ankle. Size 7.5 was too long but even so, toe box pressed my toes. I returned them.

As with all the hiking boots I have tried these are still too narrow and I have tried everything from men's to women's. I am not sure what companies think are wide shoes. I am keeping them because they are the best of all the ones I have tried including those made by Keen, Vasque, and Salomon. There is no arch support and I needed to add an arch support and heel cup (too wide in the heel) in order for them to be somewhat comfortable. I hike 4-6 hours, 2-3000 ft elevation gain/loss.
