I was excited to see these in wide- they are great boots and very supportive, however the wide is still a bit narrower than my regular width keen shoes... so had to return. I guess I need extra wide.

I compared this with the Vasque Vista UltraDry, the Zamberlan Vioz GT, and the Timberland Chocorua Trail with Gore-Tex. I have average to slightly wide feet and (sadly) thick ankles. This boot is better suited for someone with average to narrow feet. It felt tight across the top compared to the other 3 boots. It was the least comfortable of the 4 I tried. It was also a little disappointing when it came to arch support. I have very high arches, and this boot just didn't make the cut for me. Nice sole, nice styling, just not supportive enough for me. The Timberland seemed to be a much better buy, and much more comfortable...just not a great sole like this boot has.

I have always bought Lowa boots because of their comfort and they just fit me well. However, I can no longer recommend these boots as they fall apart, the soles delaminate from the the boots. This has happened on my last two pairs of boots. They are way too expensive to get only 2 years from a pair of hiking boots and the company does not warranty them for this obvious defect. It's a shame as I really loved these boots.

Really disappointed with these boots. They don't offer great support and the base has my foot tilting in towards the inside which I have never found before. I love Lowa shoes but these are not up to par.

The toe box on the D width is not a D. I tried ordering a whole size larger than I normally wear, and the toes are still too narrow. These boots seem good, except for that.

Why was I made to select a width for this shoe, if the shoe itself just has the size on it, no letters for width. So, of course, it is just a Medium width, and it was narrow for me....wasteful that it was sent to me and that it is not what it is advertised when I purchased. Otherwise nice boot.

Loved these boots initially. They were old but little used but looked to be in great condition. Uppers and tread still looked excellent and were comfortable to wear around the neighborhood. Took them hiking a few weeks ago and the sole separated while on an uphill hike. Had to tie the laces under the soles to make it back downhill. I contacted Lowa and was told that they do not consider this a quality or manufacturing defect. They use polyurethane mid - soles, something other manufacturers do not. For good reason! This material is susceptible to hydrolysis or "dry rot" (their explanation and actual words- "dry rot!") They claim if the boots are used frequently this is less likely to happen. No apology or anything, just a statement that this is what this material can do. Offered to give me a token discount for ordering more of their dangerous product. No thank you. These boots are dangerous! They can literally rot (while still looking fine!. They should come with a warning. I will never buy another Lowa product.

If there's a more comfortable hiking boot out there ... it's never been on my feet. I did about 10 miles before I put in my Fulton insoles and with or without added insoles these are very comfortable boots. Excellent ankle support! and the lacing system, while fairly standard, they are sturdy, secure and efficiently convenient with the bottom 4 hooks/laces fixed in position so just tighten up and tie the last 3 and you're good to go. It was basically that feature (the manner in which the laces are done) that allowed me to decide between these Lowas and the Scarpa Moraines which is also excellently made and very comfortable as well ... it was a tough decision.

So far these seem great, though we will see how they hold up as I get back into hiking! They are really comfortable and I got some cute pink laces off of Amazon which jazz them up a bit (as much as one can with brown hiking boots). I ordered my usual size 7 at first but these seem to run a little small and narrow so I ended up returning them and getting a size 7.5 which fit perfectly.

These boots fit true to size and feel very substantial. They do not feel cheap or thin. Arch support is good without being too much. I really purchased them for the ankle support and they did not disappoint. I roll my ankles quite frequently and not only do these boots lace up tight around the ankle, the tongue and opening for which you put your foot in, it’s very roomy. So if you’re trying to fit this boot over another ankle support or brace, you shouldn’t have any problems. I highly recommend these boots. The only down side is that now I have no excuse to push mow my hilly back yard with lots of animal holes. Darn.

I truly have been living in this boot since it arrived. I have not been able to find an athlete shoe OR sandal for summer wear. Fortunately, in Colorado, no one thinks twice about hiking boots with shorts! Lucky me!
I'd also recommend:
Sadly, NONE. I used to rely on New Balance, but I feel their quality has gone way way down (as their prices go up) over the past 10 years.

These boots are perfect! I have been wearing Lowa's for many years and this is now my 3rd pair of this model. I am a 6 1/2 B with narrow heels and use orthotics for over-pronation. I wear a 7 B in these boots and the fit and support is excellent. I wear these boots everyday in NYC as I have been having trouble finding a sneaker that works for me. I have also worn them on more challenging terrain and they are terrific all year round. The waterproofing only works for the first few years, and then begins to fade, so I eventually waterproof them myself to extend their life. Lastly, I get so many compliments on these boots from complete strangers! I would highly recommend them.

Sadly, due to changes in my feet, I'm returning these AWESOME boots. They are the best. It's my hammer toes that suck :(

This is an AWESOME pair of boots. I was fitted at a popular hiking equipment store with this boot last year. Unforturtunately then did a bad job of fitting me and the boots were too small. For the majority of my hiking experiences over the past year, they were fine. However after an extensive steep hike I ended up losing a toenail. Had this store taken the inserts out and had me stand on them, it would have been clear that my toes were going to rub on steep hikes. But, these are such a great boot that I ordered a new pair from Zappos--a size larger. I'm looking forward to pain free hiking again. Since I live in a rural area, it was so convenient to just order the new ones. Great service and very happy with the new boots. Highly recommend them. Maybe Zappos could also offer advice on the proper fitting of hiking boots so no one makes the same expensive mistake that I did?

I have been wearing the Lowa Renegade brand hiking boot for more than 20 years and they've never let me down. I wear a women's US 7.5 Wide in all my shoes and these are a perfect fit and required almost no break-in period. They look good and they feel good, and they last forever, and so why would I wear anything else?
I'd also recommend:
None. I'm a Lowa fan forever.

This boot seems to be a great boot. Well made and great quality. I purchased in 6w and 6.5w to see what fit best. I just had a screw replaced in a toe and wanted a great boot to wear with thicker socks to protect toe and add a little cushioning. The 6.5w was a good fit. However, the right boot seemed to pull my foot inward, which did not seem natural. I would have exchanged for another 6.5w, but none in stock in all three colors. May have just been that particular boot.

Skinny in Toronto! My regular shoe size is 8.5 AAAA. There were no boots to be found in Canada to replace the 8.5 AA boots that New Balance has discontinued, and Lowa does not distribute any narrow fit boots to the Canadian market. With a heavy orthotic in the boot, thicker socks, and by lacing the boot right to the top these Lowa boots are wearable. Zappos USA saved the day for me, and if anyone knows of other narrow hiking boots please let me know!

This is my 3rd pair of Lowa boots. Last pair I got 1 year ago and I noticed stitching around seam near laces was unraveling. I called Zappos to find out how I could contact Lowa and was told that I should send the boots back to Zappps and they would issue refund or send a new pair! My last 2 pair of Lowa boots each lasted approx 3 1/2 years with daily wear so I was sure it was a defect in this boot and not shoddy workmanship. Lowa boots are workhorses and when regularly treated with waterproofing and boot polish, they are well worth the investment.

This was the only hiking boot I could find anywhere in a women's 11.5. I usually don't pay this much for boots but these are really nice and light with good ankle support. They are streamlined and understated and I don't feel like they look huge even know they are 11.5. I'm happy with them.
