Excellent shoe. I wore the Vask shoe across England and it didn't have nearly the arch, ankle, or side support of the Lowa. This shoe would be better if the ankle height was a tad lower, but I'd buy it again. Highly recommend. Fine for hot or cold weather hiking.

This is my favorite hiking boot. After 7 miles my feet were getting tired across the arch in another brand of boot so I was told to look into this boot because it comes in ladies' wide sizes . And voila! my feet keep going happily after that 7 mile mark! I still have my old pair after 6 years but thought I should get an extra pair "in case." Love this boot.

I compared this with the Vasque Vista UltraDry, the Zamberlan Vioz GT, and the Timberland Chocorua Trail with Gore-Tex. I have average to slightly wide feet and (sadly) thick ankles. This boot is better suited for someone with average to narrow feet. It felt tight across the top compared to the other 3 boots. It was the least comfortable of the 4 I tried. It was also a little disappointing when it came to arch support. I have very high arches, and this boot just didn't make the cut for me. Nice sole, nice styling, just not supportive enough for me. The Timberland seemed to be a much better buy, and much more comfortable...just not a great sole like this boot has.

I loved this boot 'til the toe cracked and split, it has a unibody sole construction. It failed at 10 months.

I cannot recommend enough of these shoes! I have had these for over two years, and have been going to hiking in the White Mountains every other week throughout the entire year. They are very durable, comfortable, and keep your foot warm and dry. Because they look casual, without the mountaineer's look, I also wear these around town when there is snow on the ground.

I love these boots! This is my fourth pair (I'm a high mileage trekker). Glad they come in the D width too.

Not as narrow as I expected. I wear a AA and this felt more like a B, especially in the heel, where I most need the narrow width. But, a 3/4 length insole/insert filled in the heel space enough that I think I will be able to wear them.

These are the most popular Lowa's. I ordered wide and they fit in general, but creased across the top of my foot when I stepped. This was uncomfortable.

This is my second pair. My last pair lasted about 5 years. They are fairly light and breathe so were very comfortable even in the tropics. I am glad that they did not make any changes to the shoe in terms of fit since I loved my first pair. I appreciate the full toe box. It has plenty of room for my full length orthotics.

Got mine today! Fit is true to the size. I got 2 pair: 9.5 and 10 to choose from. Both feel great, but I'm keeping a bigger one, because seems a little bit wider. Very comfortable, GREAT quality! Recommend! I bought it for my trip to Costa Rica that's coming up; they will be PERFECT for that trip!

Based on good reviews I took the plunge and am happy I did! My first outing was a 20 mile hike from summit to home over rough cinder, a'a lava, rain forest and pasture. Going downhill could have been tough on my toes but I tightened the laces around my ankles and I'm happy to say I fared well! Also my feet stayed dry with 8 hours of wet weather. Serious hikers...this is the boot for you! I am happy to have found these!

Great shoes! Didn't have to break them in. Hiked 12 miles without any problem. Great fit, supported by wide feet with flat arches.

Beware. Lowa sizing has changed in the US relative to the UK and Europe. Size 8 in the US used to correspond (in 2000) to UK 6.5 and EU 40. Now it corresponds to UK 6.0 and EU 39.5. I had to go up to size 9 US to get a boot with the same size shoe insert as I had with my size 8 Lowa boots from 2000. Other than that, the boots are great.

I bought these boots without any prior experience with the brand, based solely on reviews. Took it to Iceland on a 5-day trek through the mountains which included snow and ice walking, river crossings, mud, ash, dust, dirt. My feet stayed dry and comfortable the entire time. It turned out that there were a few other serious hikers with the same boots, too. No blisters at all. Steep uphills and downhills were no problem. Waterproofing was great. I wear a size 10.5 and have low arches, so it's difficult to find footwear. I highly recommend this boot. My friend's Keens were falling apart and leaking by the time we were done.

This is my second pair of Renegades. I bought the first pair to wear while working outdoors and for hiking. Last weekend I wore them all day during a marathon session of wood splitting, moving and stacking. The boots were comfortable all day and I think helped keep my lower back from being sore the next morning. This pair will be for riding motorcycles. I found them to be comfortable and flexible enough to use on the bike. I will say that though the boots seemed to have a lot of support, I did buy a pair of "superfeet insoles" to replace the original insoles and help with my on again-off again bouts with plantar fasciitis. This combination of boot and insole has worked very well for me!

I have not worn these boots yet out into the woods actually doing some hiking. So keep that in mind when reading this reviews. I ordered the wide width in this boot, as I have custom orthotics and read other reviews that said the shoe runs narrow. I would have to agree with that. I wear the boot with both a liner and a hiking sock, and with that the comfort is fine. It will be interesting to see how durable and supportive the boot is once it is tested in terrain. So far, out of the boots I have tried, it is the most comfortable. However many other reviews complain of lack of durability. I did purchase knowing this, because few woman's hiking boots offer the option of ordering a wide width. Vasque and LL Bean being two others that I have tried, for wide width orders. My only complaint about Zappos is that once boots are worn outside they cannot be returned. This might not be such an issue with shoes, but it is a huge issue when considering ordering a hiking boot or shoe from them. Most you simply cannot tell they will work for you until you use them outside for a bit. Keep this also in mind when ordering, as other companies do allow you to return the boots, whenever, for a full refund. That aside Zappos customer service is excellent in my opinion.

The Lowa Renegade felt great immediately! I have really wide feet so it's hard to find boots to fit me. I would love it if these boots were even a little wider, but I leave the laces lax in the toe region and the cinch them up around my ankles, and that works fine. They didn't need a breaking-in period. My first hike with them was 10 miles and they felt great the whole time!

I wear a 7.5 N and tried many hiking boots before settling on this one. I like the soft padding around the ankle, which is low cut enough in the back that you can move your foot around. Looks truly durable and waterproof. A little pricey, though, hence 4 stars.

I've had these boots for about 3 years and wear them every day to work. Our floors at work are concrete or metal. They are the first boots I have gotten that don't hurt my feet. The soles are still like new. Love them!

Wide size fits very well, a bit larger than street size, is very comfortable. Lots of room for cushiony hiking socks. Leather is thick and stiff and needs wearing in. Needs waterproofing spray for outer leather but my foot stayed dry walking through shallow water and snow.

These boots are worth every penny! I had surgery on both of my feet in 2010 (August and November) plus I have neuromas in both feet. I had planned a trip to Ireland and was worried that I wouldn't be able to do much walking, but these boots helped immensely. I was able to do a fair amount of walking, hiking and bike riding. Now that my trip is over, I am still wearing them every day and finding them helpful with the neuromas. Part of their secret is that there is not much bend in the sole of the boot. Thank you LOWA for making such a great product!

I've been wearing these for years, and recently ordered my 5th or 6th pair. When they arrived, I was disappointed to find that they are smaller than the old pair (even though I ordered the same size). I will return them and order a larger pair, but I wish they hadn't messed with perfection!

We've had unusually cold weather in central Arkansas this year with frozen precipitation. These boots serve me well walking three small dogs. They are comfortable, have good traction, are waterproof and warm. I wear a 9 in this type shoe and it fits well. I have a bunion on one foot and it is no problem even though this boot is regular width. Worth the money!

Great boot for walking and hiking. My husband got his first and said I should get a pair too. Good ankle support and comfortable. I can't wait to get out there more to use them, although they are great in the snow because the snow doesn't stick to them.

These boots are great! I have a very narrow foot (9 1/2 4A), so I bought a 9 N and they are perfect with a thick pair of socks. I wore them for 6 hours around the house the first day and they needed no break-in. I've worn them in the snow and they are warm and dry. Thanks!
