Love! These boots are so comfortable and stylish. I bought the reddish brown color and am already trying to decide which color to buy next. I am 4'11 and have "athletic calves"...therefore, finding boots that fit my body type is challenging. A word about fit - these boots are great for petite women. I think that the calf size is somewhat irrelevant as the leather will automatically mold to the calf. I should also add that I bought these boots about a year ago and returned them because I couldn't even get them on. However, after reading other reviews (be patient, let them break in, etc), I repurchased them and the other reviews were spot on - I am happily wearing these boots with tights, skinny jeans, etc. Very happy!

These are excellent. These are my first pair of Fryes and first pair of "expensive" boots. You can really tell that the craftsmanship is a huge leap above $100 pair boots and I can tell these are going to outlive any of my other pairs in my closet. You're paying for quality here. They fit true to size, but are really slim around the shaft which, I can tell, would be a problem for those who have larger calves. I have very average/under average-sized calves and these just barely went up my calves and will be snug with skinny jeans tucked underneath. I'm sure, over time, as the leather stretches slightly they will be more loose, but they are cut to be slim-fitting and thus this should be taken into consideration when you make your purchase. Beautiful boots, you can tell they are hand-crafted, and they look great in person. Mine are in Light Brown (brush off leather). Make sure you read on Frye's website about each type of leather finish since each type of leather finish is different and the leather grain will look different/wear different over the years.

I have been coveting the Melissa Button boots for a while and finally decided to take the plunge. This isn't my first pair of Fryes, and probably not my last (ok, I'm addicted). Many of the reviewers suggested going a 1/2 size down but I opted to order my true size 9 to accomodate my wide feet. I ordered the light brown brush off however, the boots I received are much lighter than those pictured on the Zappos website. Not a problem. These boots are gorgeous and although the length is a tad long, my wide feet fit perfectly in the size 9. Overall, I'm thrilled with my purchase.

Bought these for my wife, and they are beautiful. Excellent workmanship and the leather is fantastic. Saw the reviews indicating that they can be very difficult to get on at first, and for her that was an understatement. Had to return them. Still, they are such great classic boots it is worth a try.

Another Frye boot lover here. I just received my Melissa button boots in cognac and I am so pleased. This was my first pair of Frye boots and I can see what all the hype is about. I love boots and have owned many pairs, but they all look like crap compared to these boots. I love the color and they just look super classy. I think that the more wear they get the more beautiful they will be. I will say that the size is a little larger than I expected. I am usually an 8, ordered and 8, and feel they they are a bigger in length than what I expected. I'm going to keep them, just because I think the extra space will be beneficial once winter rolls back around. Also, I have athletic calves, measuring almost 14.5inches (eek!), and these are definitely snug around my calves. I tried them on with leggings and they work well but I think it will take a bit of stretching to get them to work with skinny jeans. An important consideration for other ladies with athletic builds.

This is my first pair of Frye's and I have to say I am extremely pleased with them. I got them as a gift last Christmas and absolutely love them. Frye is a company well-known for their excellent craftsmanship and they certainly meet if not exceed my expectations. I know this is a lot to spend on a pair of boots, but if you are looking for good pair of boots that will last for years these are them! My boyfriend has had his Frye's for over five years and they are still in great condition. I currently have a pair in cognac; they go great with everything and I always get compliments on them. The only disclaimer: the soles of these boots are very slick when wet. I live in the Pacific Northwest where it is wet outside a majority of the time, I opted to have rubber soles put on the boots and in the last year they have held up great. Nordstrom will put on rubber soles for about 50$ a boot, but you can always go to a local shoe repair vendor as well.

This is my first review because I thought it was completely necessary to rave about how much I love this boot. I have wide feet and rather athletic calves (one calf is also larger than the other) an unfortunate combination for trying to find boots that fit. These boots, however have given me hope. After searching endlessly for the perfect boot, I've finally found them! If your on the edge about ordering this boot, just do it, you won't regret it! While I will admit that the boots are a little difficult to slip on and off, it's definitely worth it with how comfortable these boots are when on. Love love LOVE these boots!

This is a great boot! I had concerns about paying so much for a boot but this is a forever kind of purchase and a boot you can wear for years, classic and never out of style. the color is beautiful and I find myself wearing them with everything. I love the cognac color. I originally got the brown vintage I think, very crinkly material. although they were super cool, they were trendy and I didn't feel I'd still love them in a year.

I bought these for my daughter's birthday. She wore them the day she received them and was complimented by total strangers while shopping! Not only that, her three and five year old kids took turns wearing them when she took them off! Awesome boots! Fryes are the best!

These are the perfect classic riding boots I was looking for. I ordered a half size up because I have wide feet, and they fit perfectly. The width felt a little snug the first few days, but then they broke in nicey. At 5'1", these come up a couple inches below my knees, which is what I wanted. I got the light brown brush off, which I like as a versatile neutral. I have dirty blonde hair, and dark brown and black can look a little harsh. These are just right. The first pair I ordered was defective-- it looked two-toned. I re-ordered, and I'm glad I did; the second pair was perfect. Holding the two pairs next to each other, it seemed that the uppers on the first pair may have actually been the dark brown color. The new pair still arrived in time for Christmas thanks to Zappos' fast shipping, so I was happy. I've been wearing them most days since then. I walk a lot in them (sometimes miles at a time), and they're very comfortable. I used the Frye conditioning cream on them, and it temporarily darkened them, but they returned to their original color after about 24 hours. When I got these, I was replacing a pair of Steve Madden boots that were beyond being worth repairing. The quality of these is on a different level. They cost 2-3 times as much, but I'm anticipating them lasting 10 times as long. Very happy with the Christmas present I picked out for myself!

I bought these boots in Fawn a few years ago and I'm thinking of purchasing another pair in a different color. They are such a wonderful staple for any wardrobe. I find that I can wear them with everything, and, if not, I still try to make it work. I can walk around all day long (and I walk a lot--at least 2 or 3 miles a day) totally comfortably in these beauties. I love them!

I had to wait awhile to finally get this boot (so popular and in demand!) but the wait was well worth it. This is a most beautiful boot. I get lots of compliments. I wear an 8.5 and ordered an 8.5. Perfect! Also, thanks Zappos for emailing me the minute the boot was back in stock. I had it 36 hours later! Yeah Zappos!

Great boots! The leather is soft and of course the smell of the leather is so awesome! These are very stylish and cute to wear with a dress, skinny jeans and leggings. I feel they run about a half size big but the shaft height 15" tall and the circumference of 15" around seem to be accurate. I am 5'2.5" tall and athletic size calves. The boot comes about 1 inch or so below the knee and a just fit in calves. But after reading other reviews on this style boot from Frye hoping they will stretch some after a few wears. I purchased the black in the soft vintage leather and the color is a true black. I got in a size 6.5 and seems a little big. Have not decided whether to keep and wear a thicker sock or exchange for a size 6. But either way they are absolutely beautiful boots! So, if a little hesitant about the cost don't be...you will not be disappointed! This is not the first pair of Frye's that I have purchased and can honestly say they are by far the absolute best! A little more expensive, but worth it because they hold up really well. Also, many thanks to Zappos for always stepping it up! You all are great!

Very comfortable and attractive boot! I have somewhat wide feet and read that you should order a half-size up, especially if you want to wear thicker socks. I tried both my regular size (8.5) and a half-size up (9) and felt that the 9 was too loose and mostly around the ankles. I can wear the 8.5 with thick socks or without, so I think these are true to size. Great investment!

I bought these for my daughter for Christmas. She loves them. She normally wears an 8.5 - 9 and the 8.5's worked. They are initially very difficult to get on but the 9 would have been too big. This is a classic boot made of beautiful leather and because they are Frye's should last a lifetime. Highly recommend.

I ended up trying on three styles after reading hundreds of reviews. I've had foot surgery, and while I desperately wanted to have a pair of Fryes again, they had to treat my feet right or be sent back. I wear an 8.5, am only 5'2" and have a 14" calf with regular jeans folded into the boots. I'm 60 years old and weigh 125, so not skinny, but work out for an hour a day, so not fat, either. Loved the fit in the foot of the tall Paige rider, and the height was fine, but they lacked style for with jeans (except as a riding boot -- for that they were perfect!). Next was the Jessica slouch. The color, a burnished "red" (not perceptibly red at all -- a rich mahogany brown with deep burgundy undertones -- gorgeous!) was incredible. But the Jessicas were smaller. I had to send them back. When I did, the Melissa button in my size was on a very good sale in my favorite: natural brush-off. I want to wear these boots to bed. To church. Out in the snow. All kinds of places I shouldn't. They are exactly what a Frye boot should be. They slip right on; the shaft is just above mid-calf but quite a bit shorter than the tall riders and not too floppy and big, and the color is rich and buttery. Perfect!

Beautiful boot, but very narrow in the ankle. Bought these for my daughter who has a fairly narrow foot, and she couldn't even pull it on.

THE most comfortable boots I have ever purchased! I never even had to "break these in"- they are super comfortable and go with everything. I get tons of compliments each time I wear them. If you're like me and wear thick socks with your boots, plan on purchasing a size larger than you normally wear. These run pretty true to size.

I love these boots! The quality of the leather is really good and by the smell you can tell is real leather. They are soft and very comfortable to walk all day, I have been wearing them almost non stop. I love the color, it goes well with pretty much anything. I have wore them with skinny pants, dresses, skirts, they are very versatile. I am thinking of buying another pair in a darker color. You will not go wrong with this purchase.

Over the holidays, I tried these on in cognac at Nordstrom's and as soon as they were on, I knew I had to have them. I bought them a half size down (6 instead of my usual 6 1/2) and they fit perfectly. You have to really work to get them on the first few times, but then they loosen up. They are beautiful and truly worth the price. I'm short and thin (5 feet, 100 lbs) and struggle to find boots that fit properly. Regardless of what the measurements say (and I was hesitant about the 15 inch shaft) these boots are a great height and width with both skinny jeans or tights. The v-shape dip at the top of the shaft works in favor of those with short legs. So for all you petites out there with skinny legs, these boots are definitely worth the investment. Half size down though, for sure.
