There were so many positive reviews of these boots, but I have had a lot of trouble with them. I'm typically a 6.5 in expensive Italian boots and also in Fryes. I have a narrow foot and high arch. I ordered that in the tan burnished leather. They were very hard to get on and off and the first pair I received were rather beat up - obvious that others had trouble getting them on and off too. The price dropped again significantly, and I noticed many reviewers said they become easier to get on and off as the leather stretches so I tried the 7. The foot bed was too big, but they were easier to get on and in better condition. Ugh. I've reordered the 6.5 Quality isn't great, but worth the sale price.

I got these boots today, and they looked great! I wear size 6, ordered 6.5 to wear socks and they fit fine. I think size 7 would fit more comfortably, but I think I'm going to keep them because these boots make your feet look rather long.

These boots were a little big. I usually wear a size 11 and these were slipping off my foot as I was walking. The leather seemed to scratch easily as well.

These boots are SO difficult to put on. After 20 minutes and working up a sweat to get them on they fit fine, but what is up with the tight ankle?? I'm going to try to take them and have them stretched and see if it helps, because I DO Love THEM!

Believe reviewers when they say this boot screams "cowgirl." They scream "cowgirl" in real life but they do not photograph that way. Additionally, the leather is not shiny, soft and smooth as in the photo of black shiny boots, rather it is coarse, matte, thick, tough. The foot of the boots run very large and the shaft is pretty narrow, equal to or smaller than Stuart Weitzman boots. They are well made, if you have the patience to break in a cowboy boot (which takes some serious wearing). Not what I was looking for!

I will be trying another boot manufacture. I had confidence in Frye boots until recently. No more made in USA. No more Frye. Makes me sad. I will continue to shop for quality.

I have to agree with Elizabeth from Chicago. I like the look of this boot, and the comfort, but I am quite disappointed with the quality. I have both the Frye Julia Lace-Up and this Jane Tall Cuff. The Jane Tall Cuff has a curious, offensive smell that makes me question whether this is genuine leather, or what kind of unpleasant chemical treatment was used. Regardless, I don't find the quality of the Jane Tall Cuff to be acceptable at this price. The Julia Lace-Up, however, is stellar quality, in a dressier style. I will be keeping the Julia, and returning the Jane.

Made in Mexico. Poor quality leather. Poor quality stitching. Overall terrible boot, especially for Frye. Looks and feels like cheap plastic. Total rip off. I owned a previous pair, which I wore out, and the quality since I bought the first pair a few years ago has really gone down the toilet. Frye has upped their price tag and downed their craftsmanship. Shame on Frye.

Upon opening the box, I thought it was love at first sight. Then, putting them on it was a different story. I am a solid 6, in Frye as well as most other boots (Frye is about all I wear except Old Gringo). I have average, small and rather narrow feet. Thin ankles. I have never battled with a pair of boots getting them on, as I did these. After no less than 15 minutes, I finally got both on. They hurt my instep so badly, it was almost numb after only about 15 minutes. The next day tried again, thinking my feet were swollen due to all the pulling & tugging. No change. I even returned them and got a 6½. That was as bad (getting them on) as the 6. And they were way too long. I loved the look of these boots and really wish that they fit, despite being over priced even for Frye. I am going to stick with my Carmen Harness or Taylors from now on! Or, my new favorites, Old Gringo! Good luck!

I purchased this boot a year or so ago. So excited, and as I opened the box, was not disappointed. I ordered my normal size, what I always wear in FRYE, as well as other boots. I struggled for nearly 10 minutes before I could get my foot in. Once I had both on, my feet were so swollen from trying to get them on, I could hardy wear them. Thinking maybe that I was just retaining fluids, I tried again the next day, results were no better. This boot is GORGEOUS, and I am not a fan of zippers in boots. What I went through to get these boots on, they are far not worth the struggle. I even took to a shoe repair shop & had them stretched in the ankle area. Helped very little. Due to having worn them a time or 2, I had to sell on ebay. Although, I did not think to contact ZAPPOS to exchange. I then purchased another pair in a 6.5. No better and once I got them on, they were too long. Those had to go too. As did my wishes of having this beautiful and stylish boot. The taupe color is variated and goes with EVERYTHING. I also purchased the slate burnished leather, which picked up colors with black hues (Taupe was more for brown tones). I was so sad, they simpluy did not work. I am small, 110 pounds at 5'4". Naturally my legs as well as ankles are probably smaller than average. For them to not fit me... there has to be some issues. Surely, I did not get 2 pair that are defective, but would be interested if anyone else had this problem. Hope this helps someone!
