First of all, the slate color is beautiful; I think it would go with everything. Unfortunately, I am a small girl with a big foot, and the shaft appeared very large on me, so they will go back. I'm sure this would be a beautiful boot for someone with more proportionate feet! I am normally an 8.5 and ordered an 8 after reading prior reviews, and they fit fine in the length, although I did find them to be more narrow than my other Fryes (Engineer and Carmen). I have both of those in 8.5, so I think the Jane runs long but narrow.

These boots are very stylish and typical Frye-fashion. My only issue with the boot is the difficulty it takes to put it on. There aren't any tabs or handles to pull on the boot, so you have to pull from the cuff, which will show distress over time. If you have tight ankles or larger calves, this boot might be too difficult for you to wear. For me, I have to set aside about 5 minutes to get them on, but I like them enough to keep trying.

I love the style of this boot. it is comfortable for the most part. I just wouldn't wear it if you are going to be on your feet all day or doing a lot of walking(like shopping!).

I pretty much knew when I saw this boot that it wasn't exactly what I was looking for, but based on all the great reviews I thought I'd give it a shot anyway (that's the beauty of Zappos!). I didn't have any fit problems like some reviewers; my foot went in very easily. The reason I'm returning them, though, is that they have a bit of a western look and that's not what I wanted.

I got the taupe soft pebble, full grain. The color was a disappointment... the color shown online is not the actual color... the boots are much darker than shown. It's more like a brown than the saddle color in the photo. I wish they'd chosen that particular color to show on the video. The boots don't have any side zipper, so be prepared to spend time horsing them onto and off of your feet.

I love the look of this boot and in general the quality of Frye boots. I have wider calves, so it is difficult to find boots that fit wider calves. I wear a size 8 and ordered the size 8. The boots were well made, but I could not get my foot into the boot. The ankle portion was so narrow that the boot would not allow me to push my foot into the foot portion of the boot. The calf width seemed fine (as far as it would come up the calf since I couldn't get my foot in). I am guessing I would have to go up to a size 9 to get the boot on. I will probably reorder and try again. Thanks Zappos for the free shipping both ways!

This boot is not easy to get on, which is why I'm returning it. It is, however, beautiful in design and craftsmanship.

Beautiful boot but was sad I had to return because I could not get my one foot into the boot, and the other side took my 5 minutes to get into it. Almost Impossible even with dress socks. I still love Zappos though!

I had gotten these along with the Jane Strappy as I liked the look of the shoe and heel (it reminds me of my favorite Carmen style). I also like the long shaft. The difference between these and the Strappies was immediate and extremely noticeable. The hard, stiff leather of the Cuff did not do it any favors. There is nothing, nor will there ever be anything wrong with the foot part of the Janes, but the shaft of the Cuff is a completely different story. It was unmouldable and the fit was just awkward. Instead of shaping nicely around my ankle and calf like the Strappies, the Cuff just went straight up in a diagonal which made the look of the boot awkward and a little cheap. The shaft was also way too wide, and did not mould like the Strappoes. They were not comfortable to walk in as I felt the shaft was "flapping around" (although it is a stiff leather). I also did not like the way the cuff went down and as the leather was so stiff the cuff part sat back from the shaft, not flush like I expected. At such a high price I expect nothing but excellence from Frye, as the Jane Strappies were more than worth it. The Cuffs will be going back. I just expected more from it. The fit alone is making me return it. I would choose the Strappies over the Cuffs any day.

Usually I love Frye boots; however, these fit a little on the wide side. The left boot fits differently from the right, and it was slightly defective. The color is dark on the foot area but almost white and chalky on the shaft. I wish they were available in a solid gray. The color is also off for gray. Looks more like taupe. I tried the dark brown in this style, and they fit beautifully, and it was the same size. I don't know why it's so different in size since it was the same style boot.

I ordered this on the basis of the rave reviews. Unfortunately, this is a big, rustic boot. Very, um...woodsy looking. It's well made, but it's best for the outdoors -- on weekends, perhaps. Not work. I'm tall, with long legs, but the 19 1/2" shaft height was too high for even me. Rolling the cuff over looks bad. I got the Born Mallory instead. Loved the black ones so much I also got them in brown and black.

This boot was not comfortable the shape of the foot bed was not good for me. My feet were killing me after awhile. I have the Frye tall Paige and the Dorado low boots and both of these boots are great.

Wow. This boot is ridiculously priced. The leather is very nice, but beyond that, it's an okay boot. I have a very average foot. Not fat, not wide and not narrow size 8. I could not get it on with even the thinnest sock. After 10 minutes of trying to pull it on I finally went out & got a pair of footy nylons and (clean) grippy garden gloves. It took me 15 more minutes of tugging, pulling and shoving, I finally got my heel past the hard heel cup. Yay! It's on! But it fits sloppy and loose with the nylons. It would be perfect with nice socks on, but that's not happening. This is not an over-the-knee boot. It comes to mid-knee, so when you wear it with a shorter skirt they stop in a very unflattering height, making your legs look kind of stubby. I wish I would've had the same experience as most of the other women did. They are very cowboy boot-ish looking.

I CANNOT believe no one else had this problem: I could not even come close to getting these on my feet. I have never had this problem. I'm a perfect size 6. I have average calves, average everything, but I couldn't even try these on. Guess it's just me?

These boots are awesome! I wanted the brown ones, but they were sold out. I am so glad that I purchased these. I am tall with long legs and with the cuff not rolled down, these go to the bottom of my knee caps. They are very well made, as Frye boots usually are, and kept my legs warm even in an ice storm!

I have been wearing Frye for over 30 years and these are by far the best pair that I have ever bought. This manufacturer makes the best quality boots and even though they are pricy they are well worth the money. They never go out of style and they last forever. These fit perfectly and get ready for the compliments. The color is so trendy and fresh. They are the best so far.

I was looking for something completely different when I came across this boot, but I fell in love and ordered a pair. They are so fun. They have a bit of slouch; watch the video. I'm quite leggy, and when I fold the top up it comes to just below my knee; if you're short, it might come over the knee. The heel is solid, but not blocky-looking, and a good height. As usual when I wear Frye, I had to order a half-size down. One thing to note; one of the pairs that I ordered I could not get on. I quite simply could not get my right foot in past the ankle. I sent them back and the next pair was just fine. (Hooray Zappos.)

These are great boots for summer. They look really good with the cuff pulled up and worn with shorts. They are very comfy plus have a little height to them with the great square heel. They will be in style for ever! Great buy, plus who doesn't love Frye boots.

I absolutely love these boots. I ordered a size up from my usual size (half size might do but that was not an option) and I am glad I did. The color is great, kind of a light grey/tan taupe goes with browns and blacks. I am tall (5'10") so they hit just at the bottom of my knees with the collar up, they should increase length with shoe size to truly be over the knee boots but other than that, which does not matter much really, these boots rock. I get tons of compliments.

I have had these boots for 2 years, and I wanted to wait to write the review to make sure I still love them 2 years later. And I do! I love these boots... particularly the unique color. I get a ton of compliments on them. Like another reviewer mentioned, I never wear these with the cuff down because they do look like pirate boots. However, note that if you wear the cuff up, they hit almost above your knees. Also, pushing your foot in when you first get them can be tough, but that loosens up a bit. The leather scratches and ages beautifully, which makes these boots low-maintenance as well.

I got these in the black pebbled leather and the taupe. I am glad to read that others got more than one pair because I was going to get my head examined. It is rare that Frye boots do not fit me properly and these did not fail either in fit or flattery. The leathers are beautiful, heel the perfect height. They were very comfortable out of the box, run true to size, and are pretty colors. Get some if you can.

I own three pairs of these boots. First the taupe, then black (for mixing with more outfits), then a new pair of black ones when I essentially wore the original pair to death wearing them every day for two years. I seriously don't wear anything else in the fall/winter season here in Seattle. Size-wise, the 9 is a little big, but I like to wear thick socks. The taupe is now the longest lasting and most worn pair that I wear with literally anything - jeans, leggings, pencil skirts, dresses...you name it. I get so many compliments on them. Like another reviewer said, I always wear them cuff-up - folded down they look kind of dorky. Over time, all the boots have sunk a bit and the leather has gathered at the ankles. It takes a a lot of wearing to get to that point, though, and they still look killer even drooping. My latest Frye obsession is the new Kelly OTK - they have the same stiffness and quality of the Jane. I'm very optimistic!

These boots are so beautiful they almost make me cry. Talk about elevating your look! These boots must be the focal point of every outfit you wear them with. I got the slate color to match a skirt that needed grey boots and I love these boots so much that now grey is my new basic color for fall/winter. I'm actually planning my wardrobe around the boots -- they are that spectacular. In terms of getting the boots on & off -- there's no zipper or anything. But the leather is so soft that most of us will be able to get the boots on & off with no problem. I am mobility impaired (six joint surgeries & counting) and I can do it -- so most of you should be able to too. I love these boots -- they have 100% transformed my fashion life.
