Pros: I love the way they look, they broke in easily. They are keeping their shape well. Reasonably comfortable. Cons: They have absolutely no support whatsoever. The insole is flat plastic. They are very water-sensitive, I'm going to need to invest the time to waterproof them if I want them to last at all.

I was very excited about this boot as I was looking for a cute and stylish flat brown boot. I got the cognac, and actually really liked the color. The material definitely felt cheap (and looked a little cheap), but I could have gotten over that. What really didn't work for me was the fit around the ankle and calf. I have skinny ankles and thin calves and these looked ridiculous on me. The shaft sagged down and there was too much room in the ankle to be comfortable. I returned them and got the Kenneth Cole Reaction Bard Tender in natural suede instead. And they are gorgeous! They fit great; still a tad loose, but they don't look funny when they sag a little. The difference in price is completely worth it. They look and feel like they are three times more expensive than the Brio.

The boots were OK but the leather looks like faux leather so that was pretty disappointing for the price I paid. I have a pair of Nine West tan leather that are beautiful and the same style. I think Steve could have done a better job on the leather for the price.

Disappointed - So these boots were actually on Rachel Zoe's favorites list, but she must not have tried them on! They run small and have no support in the arch and no cushioning in the sole. So bummed because they look great, but I returned after trying them on.

I bought these boots because I am moving to Chicago. So I needed nice pair of brown flat boots for walking around the city especially since right now I live in flip-flops. I had heard that Steve Madden shoes are uncomfortable, but after reading the good reviews I decided to take a chance. The leather is beautiful and the heel was just the right height. Unfortunately the fit was all wrong. I typically wear a 6 1/2 and decided to order a half size bigger to have room for thick socks. I tried them on with no socks and it was painful. The boot pinched tightly on the sides of my heel. The boot was also digging into where my the top of my foot and ankle meet. I don't know how people can walk in these boots. I had to return them.

These boots are okay. I don't love them, but I'll keep them because I've already been wearing them a few days and probably can't return them. First off, everybody has different calf sizes and these boots have a semi small calf on them. That said, if you have a big calf, don't buy these! And if you have a small calf, they'll fit fine. But don't order up sizes to make the calf fit. I ordered an 8 and normally wear a 7-1/2 because of reviews I had read. You sort of have to fight to get your foot in (but it's because of how stiff the leather is at the bottom of the shaft). But once I got my foot in, I had a ton of extra room. The part about these boots that I am hating and hoping will break in after time is how stiff the part immediately around the foot is. The leather is rock hard. I had to put insoles in them as well because they have absolutely no padding on the footbed. The tops of the boots are rock hard against your toes when you walk, and I'm truly hoping it softens up. With the insoles they are cozy. Only part bugging the crap out of me is the hard leather. If I could do over, I would buy a nicer boot that costs a little more and spare myself the breaking in period + cost of nice insoles + having to fight to get my feet in.

I really wanted to like these, but I agree with other reviews. The leather really smells upon opening the box and just looks cheap looking. There were some small spots on mine as well. I got them on just fine, and they felt comfortable in just trying them on, but the slouchy look was not flattering.

These boots look cheap. They look like plastic and not at all like real leather. They run large and have a very odd fitting ankle. It seems like a 3/4 inch hard cuff and when you walk it hits in a very odd spot. They will be going back.

I returned these boots based on the inferior quality of leather they are made from. Again, the product photos were attractive and overall the boots have the silhouette I was looking for. The price was within budget of what I was willing to spend for a quality boot and I recognized the name. I was very disappointed when they arrived. I read the product content which stated the uppers were indeed leather but I don't think it was. I think it was fake, it felt like vinyl, and didn't smell like leather. I am cautious of much of the overseas manufacturing and would not be surprised to find out it was not leather. Anyhow, Zappos has a wonderful return policy and the boots were never worn so I was able to get my money back.

After I wore these boots about 10 times I noticed that my feet were cold and wet (it was raining). There are gaping holes in the heels on both boots. Very poor quality.

Cheap leather, garish dye job on the finish, uncomfortably hard shoe area around the foot, stiff-looking and feeling in the slouchy area, no arch support, cheap sole. And unflattering to boot! This is the kind of boot you'd find in the cheapest shoe shop. Don't even think about them if you are looking for at least moderate quality. For this price you can do better. Keep looking.
