These are super comfortable, great insole, but unfortunately they fit a 1/2 size larger than other Frye boots. I have 7 pairs of Frye's, so I'm pretty familiar with the fit. They're definitely great for riding, they have a forward tilt to the shaft, so keep that in mind if you are just wearing them for style versus riding.

I love these boots! Once you break them in, they just keep getting better. I love that these have the special welt sole, very durable, I've almost busted my butt wearing other Frye boots, but I can wear these anytime. Dress them up or down!

These boots are awesome! I have bought and returned about five pairs of black boots this winter, searching for "my" pair. These fit the bill for me - for comfort and style - black boots usually look kind of conservative and theses do not! They are also boots I can see having for a very long time. They run quite large as I am usually a 10½-11 and I ended up fitting a 9½ in these with room for my Smart Wool socks! My feet run on the long and narrow side and the fit is perfect for me. These are probably not for the lady with super wide feet. Also, the boots are a bit tight around my calfs but I am going to have them stretched a little at a shoe cobblers. Overall these are wonderful boots of very high quality. Zappos was amazing and sent me lots of sizes to try on and could not have been more accommodating to me! I absolutely love Zappos!

Love these! Every fall I treat myself to a pair of Frye boots. I purchased and returned four other styles before finding this pair. Classic style, quality leather, great fit, and made in the USA. "When you purchase quality, you only cry once." I always the dread breaking-in period on boots. I have been wearing these around the house for 30 minutes and the leather is already conforming to my feet. I will love and enjoy this pair for many years to come. Very happy!

I am updating my previous review of the charcoal 15R Harness. I've had them a little over a year now (I think) & wear them just about every day. I have a size 5.5 foot with a high arch & high instep, normal American woman calves (i.e., not skinny but not huge either). I do add an orthotic insert but size 6 in Frye almost never, ever fails me & these are my all-time favorite pair. Like wearing slippers.

Size, size, size! Picking the size was truly a dilemma for me. However, having already purchased the smaller of the two sizes (8.5 v 9) years ago in the brown, I purchased my regular size this time (9). While the 8.5 was a little better in length, the 9 put my foot where it was suppose to be in the heel and arch. And my toes were not as cramped width wise. I still have and wear the harness 12R but I think the 9's will be more comfortable in the long run. And I will tell you that my 8.5's did not stretch very much so don't count on that happening. Other than that, these boots fit my life style perfectly! Tough chick in a skirt or cool chick on a Harley...they go in both worlds!

I wanted these boots for a long time and after ruining multiple pairs of boots on the streets of NYC I finally made the plunge. I am usually between a size 10 and 11 in shoes and went with the 10 in black. The boots are super stiff at first, I was practically struggling to get them on each morning. I had to wear these twice a week for 2.5 months until they were comfortable enough to wear all day. The break-in period was extremely painful but to me it's worth it to have shoes that have support and won't damage my feet like cheaper brands of boots. So glad it worked out because these were a big investment for me! My favorite outfit to wear with these is my denim button up and black skinnies, the black boots on pants make for a super flattering and lean look.

I love these boots. I have a pair of Harleys that are nearly identical (but not as tall), but these are a bit more streamlined and look and feel less clunky. They aren't like wearing slippers, but they are comfortable. I have very narrow feet and calves and the boots slip on and off easily. I wear them as part of a uniform for work and get a lot of compliments, and they are also comfortable enough to wear for 10-12 hours per day, although my job doesn't require a lot of walking. Only downside is that they make your socks bunch up by the ball of your foot, but if you wear ankle-length socks it's less of a problem. The boots look spectacular and are by far my favorite pair.

I absolutely love these boots! They look and feel great. I am a 9½ so I purchases a 9½. They are a little on the big side but I can double up on socks since it is cold out. Either way I would never give them up. I wore them with jeans, skirts, and dresses with tights and they look great. I am very happy with my purchase.

These boots are great. They're comfortable and they go with absolutely everything. I'm a teacher and wear them all the time. They do run big. I wish I sized down but overall they are worth the money!

I've had these for about a year. They are fantastic. The have a unique look. They were comfortable from day one. The fit was true to my size. Frye's quality control is seriously lacking. I've returned more pairs than I've kept. This pair, however, along with my Melissa Button's, are excellent.

Just got these and they are beautiful. Lovely, high quality boots that will last years and years. This is my 3rd pair of Frye boots. My other pairs are a few years old and still look and feel great: a little polish to keep them clean and they look like new. I have very thin calves and this pair of boots fit just perfect. If you have thicker calves, the fit could be tight. Also, I have super high arches and usually have a very hard time getting slip on boots onto my feet (there are a number of boots I can't even slide my ankle into). This pair worked though, and I'm so glad. Keepers for sure.

Very happy with these. Glad I read the reviews and went down a half size. I'm usually a 7.5 or an 8 if a shoe is really narrow, but the 7 fit beautifully. I was expecting a break-in period, but they were comfortable from the first day. And these are Frye's made in the USA quality that I remember as a teenager. I kept trying to like a truly flat riding boot style but couldn't find anything I liked enough to spend the money on. I really like the squared toe and slight heel, while the harness still makes you think "riding boot" - with a little ambiguity about whether you're riding a horse or a Harley.

Frye has the most amazing well-fitting, classical designs that any person could hope for. In the 70s I had a pair of Frye campus boots. In the early 80s, I bought a pair of Billy cowboy boots. I still have the cowboy boots -- they are expensive at the outset, but then you have them forever if you take care of them. The Frye Harness 15R does not disappoint. They are true to size with a medium thickness sock. My calves are somewhat large, so they have fit a bit snugly in the calf, but are breaking in. The distressed color goes with pretty much anything you wear with it, including blacks. I can't wait to wear them at a music festival this weekend!

I love Zappos almost as much as I love Frye's. Maybe more. Hmm, what shoes or boots should I wear today? The heck with it, I'll schlep around in my Frye harness boots . . . I've had the black harness 12R for maybe three years and they finally need to be re-soled, I love them that much. So I ordered these with a taller shank and in charcoal. But when I took them out of the box, the right one was a beautiful dark gray distressed leather and the left one was a beautiful dark gray smooth leather. Don't really care if they're free: they should match. So I've got them ready to ship back. I re-ordered another pair THREE DAYS AGO and they're here already AND they are gorgeous. And they match. They are a lighter gray than the picture suggests. And they'll need some breaking in but I know that'll be easy. If you're skittish about the price, don't be - this is a very well made boot and wearable all year. And bravo to Zappos for superior customer service!

Zappos was super easy and fast! I already have the Harness boots in brown. They are the most comfortable shoes that I own and I wear them six days a week, work and weekends. They are even more comfortable than sneakers for me. They mold to your feet quickly and just get better and better. They are worth the money.

I love these boots...if they are in the room and my eye alights on them, I smile. I am on the shorter side (5'4") and they do not overwhelm my leg; I first bought the Veronica slouch, which I loved the look of online, but when they were on they made me feel shorter. The fit of the boots for me was an entire size smaller than my usual shoe size. I had to order a couple different times to get the right size, and the Zappos staff (as always) were extremely friendly and helpful! I highly recommend these boots. I wish I could afford to buy in more colors!

I love this boot. Frye makes great boots but they tend to run small in the calve. I am of normal weight (5'5"/140lbs) and do not have large calves but I'll need to stretch these because I really love them. love the color as well.

These boots are so comfortable that I hardly ever want to wear other shoes. They have been a bit hard to get off but I feel that they are softening and it is getting easier. I ended up with a smaller size than I normally wear which surprised me.

Very comfortable and beautiful boots. This is my third one of the Fryes. Shaft is a slim fitting which is nice. True to size to me, I tried a half size smaller one and also harness 12r but chose normal size 15r. I'm 5'4, slim side and get compliments every time. Great quality and look. These are the best boots I have ever had. The leather is so thick that the boot stands up on its own. I ordered true to size. They do stretch just a little, but I wanted to be able to wear warm socks, so it works for me!

Speedy delivery! I had to return the Veronica slouch too narrow for my wide feet. I was hoping the square toe would do the trick and it did. My first pair of Frye!!!!!

This is my fall crush! I usually treat myself to one pair of Frye boots a year, and this is the choice this fall! Gorgeous boot. Cannot count the compliments received. Looks great under jeans or outside of them. The color is off the charts. Took a week or two for the ankle break-in but that is normal for me. Ordered my regular size and couldn't be happier!

Love my new boots! Am the envy of everyone at the office. They fit true to size for me. A little on the narrow side, but they are stretching. They were a lovely birthday gift. Zappos shipped in 2 days; ordered Sunday afternoon and they arrived Tuesday for no extra charge. Love it!
