If you think the Park Avenue is a little too plain the Fifth Avenue is an excellent alternative. It's a timeless classic too. It's stylish yet conservative.

This is the best shoe I've ever worn. I have only been wearing it for a week, and I've already received many compliments on how it looks. Not only does it look great, but it is also a lot more comfortable than my ECCOs. The quality looks good, and from what I hear, with proper care and maintence, these shoes will last a life time (unlike my other shoes which I am constantly replacing). You can just tell from the moment you put the shoe on that it is made of better material. Most definitley worth the cost; don't let the price tag scare you away. I will definitely be buying more Allen Edmonds to add to my wardrobe.

The Fifth Avenue is such a classic that everytime I wear them I feel like a true gentleman.
These are also the first business leather shoes that I have bought that I did not have to break in. They felt comfortable right from the start. Before trying the Fifth Avenues I only wore English made shoes but I just might have found a new favourite brand across the Atlantic.

I bought this shoe (or similar to this) 7 years ago for my wedding. It Fits great and looks sharp in a very conventional way. I've neglected it for a few years. Even walked it in a couple of snow. I've since had it recrafted. It came back as better than I expected. I am planning to get my son a pair when he graduates from college.

I actually have a question as to why the bottom wears so fast or is it normal for this shoe..Its lasted only 6 months wearing it 4 days a week. I am a realtor and the bottom seems that its worn and now the insides are showing...

I bought these about a year or so ago after needing a new shoe for work. I already owned the Soho, which is a plain toe much like the Park Ave but with a chisel toe, so I didn't want something so similar. I decided to go with the Fifth Ave. The fit was great right out of the box and needed no break in period. As these are dress shoes designed to give a lifetime of wear, they are not as comfortable as cheap chrome tanned throw away shoes you get from Kohls, but they hold up much better and take a fantastic shine.
My only complaint is that the cap is relatively small for my taste.

A dressed shoe you must own. It's style can be matched with any suit and sometimes gives a touch of class when weared with blue jeans.

Your shoes fit well, especially having EE and EEE sizes on wide feet. I understand, it's 360 degree good year welted, however, your price on oxfords is too high. In addition, if you look at the side view of the shoes, the toe is tilted up. If you want me to be honest on your shoes, I like the toe to be tapered down like a European style. That's it, other than that, you have quality shoes.

This is about my 8th pair of Fifth Ave over the years. All have been exceptionally comfortable and durable. On this pair, one shoe has something out of kilter that rubs my foot wrong. The other new pair in brown feels great. Getting better, but for the price I'd like the ordinary level of comfort. Not enough to stop me from buying again.

I have been a customer for 30 years and love the shoes. I do believe the quality of the leather and to some extent the workmanship has declined recently.
This troubles me as AE has always been my favorite.

First pair of Allen Edmonds shoes. Like style, color, etc ... but seem to be snug in the width. Same size as all of my less expensive shoes. (9.5D) Will see if they need to be broken in to be comfortable. My cheaper shoes do NOT need a break-in period!

Sad to say after purchasing a pair of Fifth Ave I received a shoe box that was ripped up, beaten, and clearly been sitting in the back of a warehouse. But hey, it's just the box, right? Well when I opened the box I quickly realized that the bottom of one of the soles had a sticker ripped off of it, pulling off all of the top leather with it. Leaving a large mark right over the AE logo where the walking wear will not show, and therefore make this mark insignificant. Further, the welting on the other sole was rough, definitely not the quality I expected, and grown to enjoy with AE shoes.
This leaves the shoe fit. I was meant to receive a 9.0 D, and I have a pair in the same size that fits perfect. Just not Fifth Ave apparently. Because this pair was nearly a full size too long and seemingly a bit wider than my other pair. Very unfortunate.

Been an Allen Edmonds consumer for over 20 years. Recently invested in couple of pairs of 5th avenues to retire some of my older pairs. The quality control and build quality are not what they once were. The heel on one pair has started to separate and needs to be repaired with less than a dozen wearings. I had ordered my shoes on line and had issues with color consistency on a pair of Walnut 5th Ave's. Hope they straighten some of these issues out.

Got my Allen Edmonds Walnut Fifth Avenues a bit dirty after a short storm/drizzle. Perhaps my 5th wearing after a few months.
After wiping the side of the shoe gently with piece of white handkerchief, two things were noticed.
First, the white hankerchief had light walnut stains
Second the dye came off the shoe.
Hopefully I will be able to polish them back to original,.

This is my third pair. The shoes are of course nice and well built structurally, but the leather has half a dozen nicks, scratches and blemishes right out of he box. I have bought cleaner looking shoes in the factory seconds sale. Will try to buff them again but not looking good and you shouldn't have to do that out of the box.

A few details were clearly overlooked. The stitching along the back of the sole was frayed. The line where the leather was sewn together along the front upper was off on one shoe, so you could see a light line. Slightly dispointed because I believed this company paid close attention to detail.

Shoes are nice, but one shoelace is defective and fraying. Are you able to send new pair?
I can send photo if required.
Thank you.

I bought these shoes for interview season. They look beautiful in Merlot. I received compliments on them. Unfortunately, I was only able to wear them a few times because they run narrow compare to my Park Avenue and Strands (all of them are listed as 65 Last). I had purchased the E size but it still calloused the lateral toe. Not sure why the same Last shoes have different widths. Anyone else experience this?

The cap toe was much darker than the rest of the shoe. Not so much a burnishing as just an extra dark cap that did not go well together at all. Not as pictured.

I have owned about 10-12 pairs of AE 5th Avenue shoes and one pair of another style. They have all been great shoes except for one issue. After a couple of years use, the seam inside at the back of the heal tears and the leather curls up making them uncomfortable. The longer I wear them, the larger the hole gets where the leather is curled. I called customer service but they said this could not be repaired. This is not the bottom of the shoe where I would have pressure from weight of my heel but the back of the heel. The only shoe trees I use with these shoes are the solid wood type, so that should not be causing the problem. As expensive of shoe as this is, I should not have this problem. I have never had this problem with any other brand of shoes.

I had heard great feedback about AE shoes and tried my first pair. I was happy to get them and liked the way they looked and fitted.
After 2 months of wearing them - noticed that the heel started separating from the shoe today (and I had just ordered another pair of AE shoes y/day).
Went to the shoe repair guy and got it fixed - not a very expensive fix but felt really disappointed that I would need to take the shoe for fixing in such a short duration.
When I showed it to my shoe repair guy the first thing he asked me "are these Allen Edmonds", I was really surprised how he knew and he told me that this was an ongoing issue with AE shoes.

These shoes are really beautiful, but I'm concerned with the wear that's already starting to show after only wearing these once to work. The calfskin inside lining, while comfortable, is almost too soft. I've already noticed some wear / scuffing near the inside heel. My concern is that the heel will start to wear out there thus making my shoe ineligible for recrafting. I've also had to return a previous pair of these shoes because the welt line was too jagged.
