A pair of Walnut Strand Cap-Toe Oxfords were my first Allen Edmond shoes and have become my favorite pair of shoes. The quality, craftsmanship and classic look is what make these shoes my favorite. I recently purchased another pair of Strand Cap-Toe Oxfords shoes in Oxblood. In my line of work, a professional appearance is important and Allen Edmonds helps me do just that.

The strands are well-crafted and stylish and have become my favorite dress shoes. I had them recrafted recently with the combination tap sole, and like them even more now. As with any leather-soled shoes, I had been nervous about walking on wet surfaces. That's not really as worrying with the tap soles.

I am the new owner of two pairs of Strands, and couldn't be more pleased. The stitching is consistent, the baroque detail symmetric, and the leather quality is superb. These shoes take and hold a shine well (Kiwi Parade Gloss). For my feet, at least, the fit is very comfortable. I'd love to see the shoes delivered not only in the cloth bags, but with some form of shoe trees and horn as well, as would befit footwear of this quality and price.

I ordered a second pair of Strand Cap-Toe Oxfords in black. The first pair, in brown, fit well and I have had a hard time finding a good fit. So, I ordered the same shoe in the same size in black. The new pair is slightly larger and hence looser fit. Both pairs of Strands are nice looking and reasonably comfortable. Manufacturing tolerances are expected, but I am surprised that differences in the same shoe in the same size are so noticeable in feel. Still looking for last and shoe that is ideal.

So this is actually my second pair of Strainds and now my 5th AE shoe. Of all my AE's this is my favorite due to how stylish it is. After a few wears this shoe should be broken in nicely and then you can walk around all day, almost not even knowing you have a pair of shoes on. That is how confortable these are. I have this shoe in both the dark brown and the Walnut and they both look amazing. I like this shoe so much because they work well going casual with jeans or dressed up with a suit. If I could give any advice, it would be to buy these shoes. I used to elect for a lesser cost shoe and was never as happy with them. I have noticed that I have thrown away a lot of money in other shoes when I should have just purchased these earlier on.

It took me quite a bit of time to save up for these shoes but I couldn't be happier with them. The walnut had a few slight imperfections in the tanning but after a few good shines they looked perfect. The quality of the leather is great and they get better every time I wear them. The Manistee belt in walnut really is a perfect combination with the strand.

I have sung the praises of the Strands to friends in person and on social media. I have three pairs and they have served me well in my personal and professional life - proving to be comfortable, durable, and classy for years. Well worth the investment, especially in light of the recrafting services AE offers.

I got this shoe to complement my suit collection. I have it in the 7.5 D specifications.I am going to review it under separate parameters- 1. Fit - The shoe fits me like a glove. The toe area is especially comfortable with just the right amount of room for a breezy fit while the vamp and heels ensure a snug attachment. 2. Comfort of wear - The inner material is ununsually soft for a dress shoe.It has a cushioning quality that made me have a broken-in shoe feel from the first wear. The cork footbed really supports a good posture.The outsole is dressy yet rugged so that I can show it off while sitted and yet feel confident walking on rough surfaces.I like wearing this shoe. 3. Attractiveness- This is the easiest to describe. The 65 Last is a highly stylistic rendition of a traditional silhouette.The broguings add a flamboyance. The color -I got it in Oxblood- is Cherry with several layers of depth that play with daylight to reveal ununsual hues. Complete strangers and colleagues alike have complimented the looks- sometimes effusively. 4. Value for money - I have a strong collection from English and Continental shoemakers as well as American ones. The specs of this shoe -at its price point- can trump price -point matching competitors. As for high end shoes, this particular make and color can give those fancy ones a run for their money. The only modification I can think of is having some better laces to highlight the appearance of this shoe. Allen Edmonds has done a good job here.

This is my first pair of Allen Edmonds, and it won't be my last. This particular pair of shoes fit the bill - timeless, classic legendary. Enough details to stand out, but not so much that they are outlandish. The perfect amount of perfection.

I've owned strands in Bob's Chili for almost a year. Similar to my five other AE shoes, construction and details have been without flaw. Very clean construction and quality control. Calf skin is supple. I wear a EEE width and find that the slim taper of this shoe makes my foot appear to be slender (while shoes of other makes are often large and clunky).

This was my first pair of Allen Edmonds. I was definitely a little put off by the price initially as I had never paid this much for shoes. I'm so glad I went ahead and bought a pair though! I loved the style and color so much. I wear them all the time! Absolutely my favorite shoe. Can't wait to try out some different styles.

The bourbon strands are beautifully constructed and display a really vibrant color. The brogue pattern is not overdone and does not take over the design of the shoe, only adds a nice touch and variety to the types of shoes that I own. Aside from looking great, the shoes are very comfortable and fit very well and are true to size.

Like many, the Strand is my first pair of Allen Edmonds. I recently graduated from law school and wanted a shoe that would look good in court, the conference table, and after hours. The shoes look great with my suits (I'm not brave enough to wear them with jeans). They are also very comfortable. I got a matching belt that looks very sharp. A classmate has been wearing these shoes for years and has tried to convince me to invest in a pair. I wish I would have listened to him sooner.

Th shoe is extremely well made and comfortable. I get compliments nearly every time I wear them. Very happy with my purchase.

This shoe is unmatched for class. Goes great with blue slacks, especially matched with AE walnut belts.

Third pair of AE shoes on the 5 last. This is a great shoe and I love the walnut color. Very versatile ... they wear well with slacks all the way down to jeans. Looking forward to many years of comfort and style!

I have searched high and low for a pair of quality dress shoes that will fit me properly. I have an extremely wide foot and have never been able to wear a pair of dress shoes for longer than a few hours without experiencing serious discomfort. Needless to say, these shoes were perfect. I can now wear dress shoes all day with no issues. The option to get a shoe in the proper width is sooo important. In addition, the Walnut Strand really stands out; whether I wear casual attire or business attire. The depth of the walnut coloring really brings out the quality of the leather and distinguishes this shoe from cheaper competitors that try to simulate the look and color. Best of all, it's proudly "Made in the USA" (a disclaimer which is almost impossible to find these days). I will never purchase another pair of shoes from another maker. Allen Edmonds has gained yet another lifetime customer. I continue to promote the brand every chance I get.

This is a great looking shoe, period! I special ordered a pair in midnight blue and get compliments every time I wear them!

Bought these almost two years ago. Always get compliments on them. I had a problem with the heel due to my walking gait so I brought them to the store I purchased them at. They shipped them off to be repaired no questions asked for free and I had them back in a week with new dressings.

I have always loved the Strand shoe. I was fortunate enough to have responded quick enough to be able to purchase the Navy Blue Strands that were available for a limited time online in May. They are beautiful! I have received numerous compliments and they certainly are a conversation starter. The color couldn't be more classic. They are understated but make a huge statement at the same time, if that makes any sense. Thanks for the amazing shoes!

I now have 33 pairs of Allen Edmonds shoes. I am a customer for life. 3 years ago I did not know this brand even existed but I won't wear anything else after trying them day in and out for the last 3 years. I have 4 pairs of Strands and these are by far the most distinctive and versatile of the many styles in my opinion. I always receive compliments on the styling. I walk a fair amount each day and these are never uncomfortable. This last may not be perfect for you, but it seems to be just right for me. The Oxblood color is my favorite. Nothing like them.
