Love the style of these boots and looking to purchase the black ones, too. Only issue is the break-in period to get them to mold to my feet. I like to wear arch inserts, but these are pretty snug at first. Will wear for a while and add supports later. Super cool style for skirts, long shorts, or jeans!!! Worth the price, imo. I'm usually an 8 in boots, but sized up to 8.5 for comfort.

I am replacing a pair of old suede desert boots that are too old and worn out to wear anymore. I thought I would try this leather type instead. They are STIFF and run pretty small. I'm ordering a size up and hoping I can break them in, they look awesome.

Sorry to have to return these. The suede and styling were nice. They were just too small in the toe bed and doubtful that sizing up would create more room where needed.

To be Clark’s desert boot? This shoe did NOT meet my expectations. I own Clark’s(that I’ve purchased from Zappos) and they’re all an 8. That’s is my shoe size. I’m a true 8(sometimes 7.5). I have to return this shoe. Im just not sure if going up half a size would fix the problem. The pain I experienced isn’t in the toe box or the on the heel, but rather where the tongue of the shoe is. Sooooooo tight!!!

I read other reviews about the instep being really tight but ignored them because I don't usually have a problem with that part of a shoe, but the instep IS really tight/shallow. I have a narrow foot, medium/low arch, and wear between size 8-9, depending on the shoe/brand. I have another clarks original boot in a size 9, with a little room to spare (i wear thick socks just fine). They also have a higher heel and I typically like a shoe half size smaller for flats. I really wanted the Desert Boot but they were out of size 9 in the color I wanted, so I decided to try a 8.5. The 8.5 was so small that I couldn't get my foot in past the instep. Judging by how small the 8.5 seemed (due to the instep), I don't even think a 9 would have worked for me. Would have tried a 9.5 if they weren't already sold out in the color by this time, might give it another try down the road. They are gorgeous shoes and the leather is soft. They seem to run about a half size smaller than other clarks shoes.

I ordered these in a 10(m) and they were too small and too narrow. I normally wear a brooks or asics women's 10(W). I needed a size 11 or 11.5 in these, but they don't order that size. So I went and looked at men's sizes. ordered a 9.5 men's SKU 105990. Those were too big. The heel was sloppy and too much length/width. Reordered and 8.5 men's and they fit great! So if you need a larger size or more width in these I would move over to men's but size way down.

Seemed like a lovely boot but i could barely get my foot in to try — ordered a 7 and the fit could easily have been of a 5.5 or 6, so I'm hoping a size up will come in stock so I can try it properly!

I love the look of these boots! Ordered the beeswaxed leather - just beautiful leather. These are very narrow boots. I normally wear a 9 AA and often find them to be wide but am wearing the 9.5 M in this boot and it fits ok. I added an insert for arch support.

Super cute and great quality! Great with my khakis! A little stiff first thing but they soften up fast...I wouldn’t pass this shoe up and I may have to order a different color....very nice boot and it has the gummy sold too ????

Very nice boot. Better made than the cheaper Kenyan-made Bata Safari boots. Got mine in black. Feels about a half size to big. Comfortable with a short break-in period to soften up. Very light weight.

This is the first time I've ever had to order a shoe a half size up. I'm a consistent size 7 in every brand and form of shoe that I've ever owned. I also have very narrow feet, and this boot in size 7 was ridiculously tight and narrow. However, the 7.5 fits much better and I imagine will just need to break in for a few days for the leather to soften up and not feel so stiff or hard. If you're wanting to use your own inserts for arch support, I recommend going up a full size. These are not roomy shoes, but once you find the size that works for you, they're very cute (a bit more feminine than I was hoping, though) and stylish.

bought half size smaller then needed and barely can wear it now. boots look really great, will purchase another pair in bigger size

The shoe fit a bit small, so I sent back my original pair and settled with a pair 1/2 size up. They also took a couple of days to really break in, but since then they’ve been great! Very durable, warm, and the leather weathers very nicely. I wore them all around Chicago during our spring vacation and was glad to have them!

I love the style of these shoes but WARNING they are not comfortable to wear all day, especially if I do a lot of walking. It's a bummer because they look so awesome I want to wear them all the time! I thought they'd get more comfortable over time as I broke in the leather but I've had them for a few months now so I'm beginning to lose hope.

These boots are really stylish. I ordered a size 8 and should have gone with 7.5. The leather seems very stiff like they'll take some breaking in. Small price to pay for quality.

This is an iconic shoe and the look is perfect. If you like the mod stylings of Pete Townsend, Paul Weller, and the brothers Gallagher, then you will love this look translated into a women's shoe. Given that these shoes are basically unchanged since the '40s, they are not cushy and molded like modern shoes. The bottom is very flat, and they actually feel a bit like Chuck Taylors. There is also a significant break-in period. I'd recommend wearing for only a few hours the first several times you wear them, otherwise you may get a blister. After five or so wears, they are definitely getting more comfortable. On the whole, I'm pleased with them, but do wish they were a little more forgiving.

it is very stylish and classic shoe. but I'm not very interested in the black outsole.

i ordered a size 9,usually wear a size 8.5. tight around toes, heal slipped, too big.

Quality shoe, however, I have a wider foot at the ball and a high instep. I ordered the size I normally wear. I had to force my foot into the shoe. Very low at the instep. There was no way I could keep them.

I ordered one half size down after reading reviews, and the choice was correct. My first wearing of the shoes was quite uncomfortable as they are narrow than most mediums. Now that I am on my second wearing, they are breaking in nicely, although they are still a bit tight in the toes. The length is fine; it's the width. I do like them though for casual, about town wear and believe they will get more comfortable with longer wear.

I've had my Desert Boots in NuBuck for about 3 years and I have always loved the way they look with skirts and jeans but they are not the most comfortable shoes I've ever had, sorry to say. If I have to be on my feet for more than a couple of hours or do much walking, I wear something else because these great looking boots have absolutely NO arch support. Very stylish but not the best choice for comfort. And I haven't found any good arch support to buy that solves the problem. Still, I do love the way they look!

I ordered in my usual size 6, but found these boots to run small. Zappos' excellent customer service allowed me to try again, a half size larger with much better fit. The size 6.5 boots are far less tight across the instep and I've been able to wear them around the house quite comfortably with socks for several hours at a time with no discomfort. They look good and I expect to get a lot of wear out of these.

Great boots, but order up a half-a-size! I am a perfect 8C and can usually wear an 8.5B just fine, but these were both short and a bit narrow in the 8.5B. I reordered for the 9B which is perfect. I got the oiled leather, and they look just as great as Clarks' Desert Boots looked when we wore them back in the 70s! Love the gum soles which, of course, discolor rather quickly, and the oiled leather looks nice and rustic. These boots are comfy but, as other reviewers have noted, they don't have a lot of arch support. They're perfect with straight leg jeans!
