These boots are awesome! So comfy and great with jeans, skinny pants, skirts and dresses! I love them so much I ordered them in black too!

Man, I LOVE these boots. You just can’t beat Fryes. I’ve had other Fryes in a 9, and that’s perfect. However, the Carson style feels bigger in the 9 and my heel slips. So I ordered the 8.5 too which is snug width-wise, but my heel doesn’t slip. I’d hate to keep these banking on them to stretch out, but will they?!

I love my Carson Shortie. I got them in vintage black-great color- size 8 which is my regular size and they fit perfectly. Very soft leather, absolutely no need to break them in. I love Frye boots and Zappos is the best place to buy them, best selection, best customer service. I would recommend these to anyone who wants really cool, comfortable boots.

This is the best boot, ever. It is extremely comfortable and looks great. I tried it in the brown, but liked the black better. The distressed look makes it look more dusty in the brown. I would recommend this boot to anyone.

Great Boots! Comfort as soon as you slip them on. I would advise to get them one half size down because they run big and stretch quickly. Mine are now too big after wearing them about 5 times. Wish I would have got them smaller. All other Frye boots I have purchased were so small I had to return them. I love the Zappos staff!

I am a connoisseur of cowgirl boots. Frye's are the standard! These boots are soft and beautiful. I bought them in chocolate brown, and they scuff easily. It took a good long while to break them in. There's no zipper so it's a bit of a fight to get into them without a shoe horn. I ultimately had them stretched at my local cobbler. After several wearings over a few months, they're starting to come around. I wear them with everything, and I expect they will last forever.

This boot is very cute and comfortable. I love the fit around my foot, but the top of the shaft is a little too loose and seems floppy to me. I am a size 9, with a narrow foot. Following fit suggestions on Zappos I ordered a half size down, and that was a mistake. This boot fits true in the length, and is a little bit narrow.

This is a tough one. These shorties are beautiful and I am going to keep a size 7 which is one half size up. The problem for me is that I'm really between the half sizes if that's even possible. This is the same foot bed construction as the Melissa button boots (short and tall) and I think they run a half size small. The outer leather is beautiful in this and the Melissas and soft and buttery inside. I'm getting the 7 in a shortie because I want to be able to wear a thicker sock when it's cold. I don't like that the 7s look a little clunkier on me and they are slightly loose, but there's no way I can get both my foot and a sock in the 6.5s. In fact in this boot the 6.5 is way too tight in general even though my 6.5 Melissa button boots work fine with a very thin sock or nylon. Long answer but I like these enough to keep them in a 7 even though I wish I could wear a 6.5 with a sock.

This is a really nice little boot. It was comfortable pretty much out of the box, and seems like it will get better with time. It's also a style that show wear well - in the sense that it develops character with age. The tone of the leather on the Cognac is richer than the picture, which is nice because they look more expensive in person than shown. I can wear anywhere from a 6-7 and in boots tend to go up a bit to allow for thick socks and sole inserts. The 6.5 in these was an almost perfect fit. There was a small struggle getting them on and off, but nothing impossible or out of the ordinary for a new boot. There is a tiny pinch on one of my pinkies, but I usually have that problem with any kind of boot. The heel slips a bit, as others noted, but that is also normal for me and doesn't irritate. I thought the heel would be high enough that it would bother me, but it's just the right height to give a short gal a boost and elongate the leg, but not make my legs/back ache. Once these are thoroughly broken in, I could see wearing them comfortably for hours. These are imported, as it says - Made in Mexico. Everyone should know that there is a HUGE variance in Frye's quality since they sold the company in 2003. A few styles are still made in the USA, but most are imported from Mexico or China. Stay away from the China made boots - they are crap - but the ones made in Mexico still tend to feel like pretty quality boots. I'm not sure these are worth the hefty price tag, but they are really nice.

I love these little boots. Good quality leather in a classic looking style that's slightly "Western" but not too "Cowboy." I get compliments on them when I wear them, but more importantly, they are comfortable. It's my experience with Frye boots that they run a little large and these were no exception, so I recommend ordering a half-size down.

I love Frye. And I love the rich caramel color of these shoes. But it was so hard to get my foot in at first! My other Frye boots never had this problem. I'm normally a size 8 in Frye, had to return and order an 8.5 to even get my foot in. They have since stretched a bit. I've gotten tons of compliments on them, only wish the arch width/height ankle room was a bit more forgiving to begin with.

Really nice leather and design but boot too big at the top and flops around when you walk. Wish they'd make the top smaller.

These boots are amazing - wasn't happy with the "distressed" look - almost like they got caught in overspray from white paint. Also they run 1/2 size larger than normal size. Returned them for 1/2 size smaller in the regular tan and they are absolutely incredible. Really beautiful. Zappos is the best!

I was so excited and really wanted to like these boots. They were too big though and had to go back.

This boot was a serious fail. The sizing is way off. I usually wear a 7.5 in flats and an 8 in tall heels. I tried on an 8.5 in a local store and knew that was way too big on me, so I ordered a 7.5. It was still so big! The heel flopped when I walked and there was a ton of room in the toe. These are a slightly pointed toe, so there should be some room, but not like this! I then ordered a size 7. These weren't right either, unfortunately. These were slightly too small. I have pretty high arches but usually don't have an issue fitting shoes. But, right across the arch, the 7's were too snug. I didn't feel that they would stretch enough with wear so both the 7's and 7.5's went back. They are a very nice boot, and very high quality, but the sizing is off. For this amount of money, they need to fit well.

Great boots - look fantastic. Very comfortable right out of the box. But I usually wear an 8, and these are very large - feel more like a 9.

I cannot believe I spent so much on a pair of ankle boots, but these are exactly what I was looking for. They look good peeking out from jeans, and I can wear them with a couple different pairs of brown/grey dress pants too. The toe is darker than the rest of the boot, which I like, makes it more interesting. This is a nice winter shoe/boot, without crossing over into cowboy or motorcycle territory, assuming your pants cover the top part. As always, good quality from Frye. I enhanced them with superfeet hard inserts for heels.

These are really beautiful, but very difficult to get on. I have to use a she horn! They are then plenty big. Needs a zipper.

Handsome boot - beautiful leather. Beware: in a size 10 the upturned toe is extremely roomy and on my foot it looked like a boat. Consequently, they were returned.

Very cute boots, not as comfortable as my Frye Campus boots, last doesn't fit as well. I wore them at a charity event and had sore feet by late afternoon. They are so cute, I'll wear them often for style.

I wanted and still want to love the Carson Shortie. And I actually do love it. What I do not love is that is took me nearly 45 minutes to get the shoes on! They are that tough. It took me some time to get the sizing right, ordered 7.5 and 7, way too big. Ordered a 6.5 and once they are on, they seem right and are super cute. My true size is a 7.5 so I was pretty shocked. I am currently trying to decide if they will stretch out and be easier to put on, because I cannot spend this amount of time getting my adorable shoes on. It's the ankle - really tight. I have ordered the saddle and dark brown and both colors are lovely. Be warned! These boots are long, narrow, but run big. It's kind of like a mean trick!

Great shoe! Comfortable almost out of the box but even more so when you wear them a couple of times. The white 'antique-ing' wears off, which i was happy about. The color of these is amazing. It's darker around the toe and heel..they like they have a good story to tell. Beautiful boot. Frye rarely disappoints.

It took a few tries to get the size right, but worth the extra effort. I normally wear a size 11, but the 11 in this boot ran very large for my foot. Trying a 10 1/2 was not an option, but the size 10 turned out to be a great fit. Looks great with jeans. Well-made - a good investment!

These boots are really comfortable and very good looking. I am constantly trying to come up with an outfit to wear with them. The only problem is that the nails in the heels are exposed and this makes them slippery on hard surface floors. Be careful!

Great basic boot. I wear either a 7 or 7 1/2, and the smaller size was right. There’s lots of toe room, but the heel was sloppy on me. Just a caution that if you have a narrow heel, these will probably not be your favorites. Also, notice that the smoke color is almost what I would consider a dark taupe. I expected more of a grey, but the photo on my computer is actually pretty accurate.
