I wanted these boots now for over a year and I finally made the splurge! They are gorgeous, and well crafted. I ordered my regular size (8.5) and then was paranoid after reading all of the reviews that indicated they would be huge. I placed a second order for a size 8.0 to compare. I agree that the 8.5 is a bit longer than necessary but the 8.0 was very difficult for me to get my wide foot into. The length was better in the 8.0 but I felt quite suffocated once my foot was finally in the boot. For me, my regular size was the better choice. I can't wait to wear these and might save my pennies for another color.

Pricey, but 1st rate quality. I have been wearing mine for 6 months and they still look & feel perfect. They will last for years. Not comfortable for walking any distance, but the leather soles & good fit make them comfortable for short walks or sitting. Probably they would work for riding horses, but I want to keep mine "dressy". I have narrow feet & calves so pull-on boots usually look terrible on me. Not the Carsons. They look great with skirts - skinny legs and all. If you are in doubt about size, order smaller rather than larger (i.e. I am a 9.5 or 10 Carson 9.5 fit perfect).

These boots are super cool. But the Carson shorties are better. I found these extremely hard to get on. They run large and long. Not as sturdy as the harness or engineer boots, but I'm sure they will last. I returned and kept my awesome Carson shorties instead. I love the weathered leather Frye is coming out with!

As with other review Carson boots were very sturdy but soft and comfortable. I walked almost 50 blocks in NY on the first day I tried them on - the boots felt slightly snug halfway through the walk but that was a long way to go on the first outing. Since then I feel like the leather stretched just a fraction - better comforming them to the shape (width) of my feet. I cannot remember the last time I bought size 7 shoes - I have very narrow feet with high arch and usually wear size 7.5 ~ 8; so I assume this pair runs slightly narrow and larger than the size indicates. All in all I am very happy with the purchase.

Bought these very red boots. I have received many compliments right off. I have worn them about 4 times. I wear a 7 and they slip around on me a little. I also have a very high arch. I went and bought from a drugstore a nice arch support for the entire bottom of the boot. That fixed the slipping and arch issue. The leather is very soft and it even may become a scrunch boot down the road. I really like it and on "Valentine's Day" they were fun to wear. I'm 61 and sometimes you just gotta go for it red boots!

So sad about these boots!!! Had been coveting them for a while, ordered yesterday and returning today. First I ordered the Dark Brown Vintage and the color was more of a mustard with some grey "paint" (guess that is the vintaging). In addition I could barely get the boot over my calf - leggings wouldn't even fit between me and the shaft. This issue is definitely my fault...assumed they would be wide enough, but you know what happens when you assume. BEWARE OF THE COLOR! Def not Dark Brown (if they had been I probably would have gone to the trouble of having the shaft stretched but def not worth it in this color). Zappos is the best though!!
