They do come up a bit small so I ordered 1 size up but found this slightly too big. Used the online exchange which was excellent and got 1/2 size down (1/2 size bigger than my normal size) and they fit well.

Good price, stylish, hard wearing as shoes or mountain biking shoe, the half sizing is perfect for me being a half size!

Just got back into mountain biking after years away from it. Everyone is wearing 5 10's, so I thought I'd give them a go. Well impressed, high quality, excellent grip to the pedals, very rugged feeling. Thought they were a tad too small on the length when I first wore them, but they seemed to have bedded in now and feel fine. Highly recommended.

Shoes are very comfortable and grip the pedals moving along the trails. They look good too.

I usually wear a woman's 11 wide in Rykas and I went with a men's 9.5 in these. My main reason for getting shoes just for mountain bike riding was because my feet kept slipping off the pedals and I knew that one of these days that could lead to something worse then just loosing the momentum needed to get up the next hill. I was hesitant about getting these because of the price and I also thought for sure they'd look big and clunky. But because Zappos make ordering/returning so easy, I ordered them. I'm really happy I did. I've taken them on several trail rides--each a couple of hours long--and also used them on my indoor workouts on my spin bike. My feet feel so secure on the pedals --no slipping--and also supported--as if the bike pedals extend the entire length of my feet. And amazingly they don't look big and clunky. I like how they look. I don't notice any arch support in them--they seem pretty flat--but that works for me because I have a low arch. Insoles come out so you could add your own insole. They do feel extremely stiff when you try them on. I've never had a pair of mtn bike shoes and walking around the house testing them out for proper fit I didn't like them too much. I have a job where I'm on my feet all day and I couldn't imagine wearing these--walking-standing- for even half a day. It wasn't until I got on my bike with them that I understood: these shoes are not for walking or standing: these shoes are made for riding!

overall very pleased with these shoes, very grippy on the pedals, able to walk well with them off the bike. I did have to go to a full size up, I usually wear a 10 1/2 dress shoe, wound up with a size 11 1/2 with theses.

My 15 asked for Five Ten for Christmas. He's an avid mountain biker and insisted these were the best and only sneakers he wanted for riding. He was thrilled with the look and fit of the product. He said the grip on his pedal was awesome and he was able to keep his feet on the pedals while doing tricks. Highly recommend these as they are well made. A little pricey but seem worth the price.

Bought half a size up and they fit perfectly. Very comfortable and provide excellent grip, far superior to any shoes I've ridden in previously. I don't think it's worth looking at alternatives, Freeriders are the best.

It is paramount I have the most grip possible with the only pedals I'm allowed to use. This shoe fulfills my need of grip the best out of all shoes I've tried. They are comfortable on the bike. But to walk in uncomfortable due to structural design they are designed for. They are stiff exactly were I need them to be some my foot doesn't fold around my pedals.I did not buy these shoes to walk in but just warming you guys who need to hike and bike. Grip and stiff. Only shoe I wear to practice and race in. Recreational cruising around I wear my Champions. Comfortable, stiff but not real real grippy. They look good and lots of cushion all around the shoe and tongue. Wide shoelaces and thick tongue so I don't feel the laces when I tighten laces. Wide laces also cover more area so spreading out the tight spots thin laces can't do. I have zero worries about shredding my shins.

High quality soles. Built to last. But the size is the only problem. I'm normally 10 but had to go up half a size.

Perfect fit. This is the first time I’ve had sneakers in years. They fit perfectly and went for a bike ride right after opening them. Great support. They get a 10 out of 10.

I wear size 8 and these were right on the money. Wore them for a 3 day Utah backcountry Mtn-Bike extravaganza and they performed up to expectation with solid pedal support, little to no slippage, and no foot fatigue at the end of the day. Highly recommend!

Fit great. Totally secure on the mountain bike with flat pedals. The sole is sticky but not annoyingly so. Never feel like I’m losing traction when traction matters. I’ve owned 5 pairs of Freeriders and will likely buy several more.

I needed some flat, stiff shoes for a bike tour. I am a woman's size 10 wide, so I figured the men's shoes might fit more comfortably, and 8.5 turned out to fit exactly as I expected.

Here's the thing with fit/size. I'd say the Freeriders are spot on in length, and provide plenty of width in the toe box for most feet. In fact, if anything there's enough room for me that I added a second insole to fill the space a bit for a snugger fit and better arch support. The insole it comes with is removable, and the shoes are built for protection and durability. More like Merrell light hikers than Vans, and the weigh accordingly. If these are complaints for you, stick to road biking. ;)

This is my 2nd pair of these and they feel every bit as good as my old pair. Love the plain black look, and particularly like the option to stitch in characters (used my nickname) as my MTB friends use free riders so easy to identify mine in the soggy muddy mess of kit in the back of the pickup at the end of the days ride.

Very nice shoes - good looking too. I bought the Black/Grey/Solar Yellow for mountain biking with flats. I believe they are sized accurately; however, I like a wider shoe up front and purchased 1/2 size up - and the toe box feels fine.

I bought a new mountain bike and decided to run flats for the first time in 15 years. My feet hurt with normal shoes, and I wasn't getting enough grip. So I did some research and decided on these shoes. I'm so glad that I spent the money on bike-specific shoes as they have helped my riding more than I could have imagined. The grip on the shoes is just right in that it is grippy when you need it while still allowing you to bail when you screw up! The stiffness in the sole helps with power to the pedals more than I thought it would and has completely cured my foot pain. My only gripe is that I have to tuck in the shoe laces when I ride. It would be great to have something like velcro to secure the laces. That said, I think that is available on the more expensive shoes, but it wouldn't be worth the extra $30-$50 to me for the next level shoes. As far as the negative reviews for people wanting to use these shoes as every day or running shoes, thanks for the chuckle! I'm going to submit a negative review on my Brooks Ghosts because they suck for riding bikes ;) I've only had a few rides with them, so I will update my review with durability information in a few months.

Just switched from clipless to flats. Feels and looks like a skate shoe with FiveTen's sticky rubber. So far it's a great combination! They're a lot more appropriate for my riding style than the Kestrel BOAs I was wearing, both are great riding shoes though!
