For ages I've been looking for a boot that will hold up to a bit of tromping around in New England winters, but that I can also wear to work all day without feeling like I'm wearing snow boots. This boot is perfect so far! Haven't had any true snow yet to test, but I think I've worn them every day since I got them a week ago - through some pretty cold days and very rainy ones, and my feet have been toasty (but not too toasty) and completely comfortable for at least 12-14 hours a day. The thin Polartec lining seems to be just the right weight to keep me warm and yet not overheated once I'm inside all day. I usually wear anywhere from a 9 to a 10 depending on how the brand runs, and I ordered a 9.5 - I usually wear light or medium-weight socks and the sizing is perfect for that. If you wanted to wear heavier socks I'd order a half size up - the ankle is nice and snug, but it might be too snug with really heavy winter socks. All in all, I couldn't be happier so far with this boot - it's the perfect medium for winter and will be great in the spring and fall too. I can wear them with jeans, dress pants, and also with tights/skirts so it's truly an every day, every occasion boot. Also, the sole seems really good so far - it's sort of sticky so I haven't slipped around and the tread is enough to help with traction but isn't so chunky that it's visible when you're a little more dressed up. Oh! And there was zero breaking in time - no rubbing on my calves at the edges, no blistered toes, nothing. I think I might actually be looking forward to winter now that I have these...And thanks to all the other people who wrote reviews for these boots - your reviews really helped me decide what to buy and what size to order - Zappos and Zappos customers are the best!

Love the style of these boots, but I couldn't even get them on my feet! Very disappointed in Merrell, because I've been ordering their shoes/boots for years. I wear a 5.5 and I'm a very petite person, so I'm not sure why I couldn't get these on! Unfortunately, I will be sending them back.

I got these boots last weekend and love them. They feel very secure and safe, although they were quite slippery on a wet concrete basement floor (don't ask). I did have to add arch support via Superfeet inserts, but other than that I'm really liking them so far.

These boots are very comfortable and fit great. I normally wear an 8 and they fit nicely. I have also tested them in the rain a few times already and definitely are water resistant. Would buy these again in another color.

I bought these for a recent trip to Colorado. I have a difficult time finding tall boots because of my wide calves. These hit just below the widest part of my calf. I thought they would be uncomfortable, but they are not. They're like wearing sneakers. They aren't as stylish as I might like, but I'm a pointy toe shoe girl and these toes are very round. But they are comfortable; warm and waterproof. If they were any taller, I wouldn't be able to zip them. But for what they are, they work perfectly.

I ordered this and the Merrell Spire and this one fit my calves--which I don't think are big and the Spire would have been too tight. I'm looking forward to wearing my new boots!

Fantastic waterproof boots. Comfortable. Lots of compliments. If you wear size 7.5 in most shoes, get an 8.

Love these boots, so comfortable. However, I wear a thinner sock with them if you want to wear a heavier sock, go up the size. They are extremely warm and very good looking. I have a very slim calf and they are not too wide. Buy them, you will not be sorry. Going back for the brown.

These get more comfortable each time I wear them. I've worn them in the rain and my feet and remained warm and dry. I'm a runner and am on my feet a lot during the day so my feet are finicky. I'm short and my calves are bigger but these have just enough stretch and fit well. They look good with jeans and with a skirt. They are keepers for sure.

I love these boots! The height is perfect with all kinds of pants--jeans, leggings, anything. They are warm and I love that they are waterproof. I have never worn such comfortable boots and plan to buy another pair in black!

These boots were not a disappointment at all! They are very comfortable and cute! (I've gotten compliments every time I've worn them.) My feet have stayed dry, so far I think the waterproof is accurate. I'm very pleased and tempted to get them in a brown also. Zappos provided very quick and friendly service which made the whole buying experience a good one.

Really, really like this boot. Comfortable from day one. My feet stayed dry through first rainstorm I walked through. My only critique so far was that I wish they were a tad warmer.

I initially thought "no" but after a few days of trying on different pairs of waterproof boots, I'm coming back to this pair. They are a bit duck billed and I have tiny calves so I can fit my whole arm down the front of the boot with my leg in the boot. Also, I'm not sure about mid-calf. They win out comfort wise tho'.

I agree with some of the others reviews and found these boots totally comfortable from the moment I put them on. I wore them all day to the Impressionist exhibit from the D'Orsay and was amazed. Thanks Merrells and thanks Zappos.

Love, Love these boots. I have been looking for a fashionable, comfortable brown boot that doesn't sag around the ankle and swim around my calf for a long time. Mission accomplished! And, they are waterproof. These boots were comfortable out of the box, fitting my foot like a glove. They look cute tucked with jeans or leggings or untucked! Great job Merrell, and fantastic job Zappos, for the speedy delivery. I love your company!

So look: when you live somewhere that it snows all winter long, eventually you have to graduate from shapeless, gross UGGlies to something reasonable. These are my first pair of "grown up" winter boots, and I am in LOVE. Breaking these is a breeze (especially compared to my last pair of Doc Martens, which gave me blisters for a full three weeks). When worn with medium-thick socks, I have zero comfort issues. Without, I do get some minor rubbing on two of my toes, but never a blister. I wear them for 10-12 hour days working in a fast-paced retail store. Best of all, they don't look like snow boots-- I can wear them out in the evenings just as well as for walks to work in 8 inches of snow! Fit is true to size. I have soccer-player calves and they're snug, but loose enough for me to tuck skinny jeans into.

Love these boots! Wore them all over Paris for a week - they were excellent. Love the style and comfort.

These are incredibly comfortable. They have a removable insole (like most Merrells) so I was able to replace the one that comes with the boot with an orthotic. One important note - these boots are WARM. They are great for keeping me warm outside, but when I go inside to sit at my desk, or shop at the mall, I get very hot from them. As far as style, they are mid-calf, which I have found not to be a particularly flattering height for boots so I always wear them under my pants.

I just love these boots! They really do keep the water out and they fit like tennis shoes. This is definitely a go to boot for a long, rainy walk. Kind of give a duck foot look, but your feet are so comfortable you do not even care! The traction is fantastic, I have not fallen down once in these shoes. They arr totally worth the price.

Awesome! I am a hair stylist and my feet never get tired when I wear these boots. I have honestly never found footwear that worked so well for me! I have had numerous compliments. They are worth every penny! I can't wait to test them in the snow.

So far I love these boots. I have not tested them in wet weather but I plan to. They are adorable and extremely comfortable and warm for the fall season. When purchasing new boots, my goal was finding maximum comfort without looking like I was 50 years older than I am. After running a marathon last year, I developed plantar fasciitis and my feet grew (flattened I guess) a half size. I had to give away all my old shoes and I've been slowly replacing them. There are very few shoes I've found that don't cause intense pain after a couple hours of wear (Chacos, Brooks, certain Keens). I can now add these Merrells to the list. My arches are still pretty high and these boots don't meet them. But with inserts from my podiatrist they do very well. However, I haven't worn them on days when I'm on my feet a lot or when I have to do a ton of walking. Style-wise, they are pretty versatile and have garnered compliments with skirts and leggings as well as with skinny jeans tucked in. They have very soft, flexible leather and the soles are pretty sturdy without being thick. They seem to be developing a broken-in/slightly distressed look but they still match everything casual to moderately dressy. I have yet to try them in super-cold, but I expect them to be quite warm and gripping on ice.
