I wanted these to fit and be comfortable, but they're just not. They are so cute in the pictures, but the straps just hurt too much! I tried them loose, I tried them a little tighter, but after walking around my house for even 5 minutes I couldn't take it! I know leather softens with time, but I've had plenty of leather sandals that didn't hurt like these did. Sorry, they had to go back.

Beautiful shoe, but runs large. I ordered the 38 (I'm a 7.5), as was recommended, but felt too big.

Had to return these as the fit wasn't right. The sandal itself, in a narrow 41 was great as my foot runs slightly on the narrow side of average. However, the ankle strap was too short, to buckle unless I pushed my foot tightly against the middle toe strap, which made them uncomfortable. I love the way they look, however, they aren't for me so my search for a summer sandal continues.

I loved them! Sadly the buckle broke and then they were unavailable. So had to return them.

I so wanted to love these!! The toe strap and ankle strap do make these stylish, but the flip side is comfort is compromised. Returned these and order the Floridas from another online store as Zappos is sold out. We shall see.

I love these and Zappos's shipping! I ordered them yesterday afternoon, and received them this afternoon! I wear a 9-9.5 in all shoes, and ordered the 39, which fit perfectly...just enough spare room at the end. They feel great right out of the box...I have all of the straps on the tightest holes and they feel great! One of my coworkers was so jealous...she says she has to go buy a pair right now because they look so cute! I have wanted these for a year! they are my first pair of birks.

My gizeh are 39 and my arizona are 38. Yara 38 was too big.

Huge fan of Birkenstock sandals because of the arch support. When my back starts hurting I put on my Birks and instant relief. As a result, I have 5 pairs of different styles. The Birkenstock Yara is my new favorite! The adjustable ankle strap offers a feminine touch that the traditional Arizona style does not (though I love those too). I wear a size 11 and I have really long toes. The 41 offered the perfect fit. Also my 9 inch ankle leaves multiple notches for adjustability. The tobacco finish of the leather is instantly scuffed, but I still love the look. I’d purchase these again for sure!

These sandals are very cute. However, the ankle strap was too tight for my thicker ankles. Too bad for me.

I wanted to love these shoes -- I love the style! I normally wear size 8/8.5 .. First, I ordered a size 39 - it was too big. my foot kept coming out of the shoe and was just dangling by the ankle straps.. so I returned it,and ordered a 38. The ankle straps were so tight - Couldn't wear them comfortably. I do not even have huge ankles - the straps were not very long. Had to return them too. Disappointed that this did not work for me.. Style is very cute.

Too big, need to order smaller size.

Even though I wish the straps on these were a bit narrower, like the Birkenstock Daloa, but these were ultimately keepers because I thought the leather would hold up better than the synthetic material. Plus I love the crossed toe strap, can't wait to wear these all summer this year!

So I wear a size 9 usually, sometimes 9.5. Rarely, I need a wide width. I wear a 40 in Dansko and also in Birks; after reading the reviews, I ordered a size down, so, a 39. They fit perfectly until I walked in them, and my toes extended just enough over the footbed to wear the shoe was rubbing on the bottom of them. It was awful. I should have went with my gut and ordered a 40. I measured my foot according to Birks website, and it confirmed 40 was my size. I returned the 39's for the 40's, and they are a perfect fit, so I would caution you in sizing down, and I would also advise you measure according to the Birks site. As for the straps being uncomfortable, I don't agree. Keep in mind when you get up and put your shoes on, you haven't been on your feet all day. Even if you are thin, your feet and ankles still swell, whether visible to your eye or not. Don't strap them down tight, give some room for movement and natural swelling through the day and I think that will solve any comfort problems you may have. This is a lot of money to pay for sandals, yes, but there's a reason people shell it out. These are comfortable and supportive and you don't have to worry about slipping out of them thanks to the ankle strap. Cutest Birks I've owned. I actually bought them last season, but the black was sold out. I saw they were back in stock so I came back to buy them and decided to write a review as well. Hopefully this will be of some help to those of you with comfort/sizing issues.

Love these shoes. Hands down the best sandals I own. I can walk in them all day without foot or leg fatigue. I normally wear a 38 in Dansko, but wear a 37 in Birks.

love the style, but will take some time to work into a totally comfortable sandle, given this kind of shoe does need some break in time, but love these

Seemed too stiff and uncomfortable. Was hoping the ankle strap was thinner, but it's fairly wide. Going back.

Birkenstocks are great always and have not changed too much except for adding new styles. Just got a new pair and whoa!! My usual size was a full inch too long at the toes. Too bad, have to reorder a smaller size. The buckles on the straps seem to land in front of my ankle. I'm hoping the smaller size has shorter straps so they land in the right place. I do have skinny ankles though. Good quality, color of leather is slightly lighter than the picture. 4 stars because I really wanted to wear these right away!

Extremely cute and comfortable!

I followed everyone else's advice and got a size smaller. These were my first pair of Birkenstocks, and there wasn't a store around where I live where I could try them on. Based on reviews, I think people are pretty spot on about ordering a size down for these. I'm a size 9 (40 in BirkenSize), so I went for the 39 (which is 8-8.5 US). My feet are nice and cozy in it. I was afraid that the regular width would be too big for my narrow feet, but they hug me perfectly. I think I need to wear them in a bit more for them to get more conformed to my foot shape, and it will take care of some of the stiffness. But overall, the quality is fantastic and the style is awesome.

I love these shoes! They are super stylish and very comfortable. I debated if I should get them or not because of the price, but they are very well made and seem like they will last awhile. I have worn them long distance when walking once and the toe strap rubbed and left a red mark, but this is probably because they were not broken it yet.

My FIRST pair of Birkenstocks! Really liked the style of this pair, as they have a more "feminine" look about them. I've tried a few pairs on over the years and didn't care for the look, but I received many compliments on these the first time I wore them. Also, have a high-arch, so the traditional styles didn't feel right when I tried them on...these fit my arch! Have worn them a couple of times and found they are beginning to stretch, especially around the front/toe area, but that's okay, because they were a little stiff at first and the straps are adjustable to fit better! Have a tendency to blister with loose, "strappy" shoes, so will break them in a little at a time before taking them for an all-day excursion.
