I read through reviews and decided to get the 40 even though I normally wear 41 in the Arizonas Birkenstock. I love the style! I am still getting used to the pull on the ankle when I walk, but it's not uncomfortable. Overall I feel stylish and sexy while getting wear a comfortable, supportive sandal!

Very comfortable and stylish

I usually wear a size 7, however buying Birkenstocks before they tend to run a little large. I ordered the 6-6 1/2 and they fit perfectly! I love, love, love the Yard style! ?

Birkenstocks run a little larger in size so I sized down and they fit perfectly. They feel great on my feet and the ankle strap makes them a little more stylish!

They looked really nice but were uncomfortable. I’m going to have to return them.

They take a bit of time to break in around the front toe area, but I wore them right out of the box without too much trouble for a 6 hour day, mostly on my feet outside so they served me well. I bought them so I had a cute sandal with good arch support and heel cupping for my weekend activities which involve a lot of walking and hard concrete and my back and legs have not been sore since.

I'll start out by saying that, like others, I found the ankle straps to be way too short for my ankles. And no, I do not have cankles by any means! I was so disheartened because I seriously love the style and femininity of this model of Birks (I have always had Arizonas... going back to college 20+ years ago). I decided to risk my investment and stretch out the straps. Did a simple google search on stretching leather and soaked the straps ONLY in a big bowl of warm water about 15 minutes. Then just pulled on them, being careful not to pull where they are attached to the footbed. To my amazement, they stretched very easily and quickly. And when dried, they did not shrink back. Now they are loosely fitted around my ankle, sort of slouchy, like in the Zappos video. Now I LOVE my new Birks!

These sandals are very cool. Love the look and will get used to the way they fit. However, I am always a size 8. In this shoe I had to get a size 37. I ordered a size 38 due to most reviews saying how large these run, Birkenstock said a size 39- that would have been way too big. These are very long and wide, even the 37 regular width still feels wide, wishing I had ordered narrow width.. I returned the size 38 for the 37, no problem at all in returning, Shawn at Zappos provided lightning response to my order, upgraded shipping at no cost to me and made it simple for me to return the ones that did not fit. They are a statement maker and will wear these for years to come.

LOVE these sandals. They're cute and comfy! I did read reviews before purchasing and did go down a size. I have a pair of Mayaris in a size 42 and bought the Yaras in a 41. A fantastic sandal!

These shoes are cute but they didn’t work for me. The straps are are at an odd length which made the buckle end up close to the front of my ankle. The look was odd. The leather is also very stiff which made it difficult to buckle and move the straps. I’m returning them.

I have narrow ankles and the strap was not tight enough even at its tightest so they flopped when I walk. These also look cuter online. I think that people with an earthier style would love these but they're not for me, I'll be returning them.

First pair of Birkenstocks..... Love, love love this style. Was somewhat confused about the size to order after reading the reviews; however, I went with my normal size, and it turned out perfect. The ankle straps are fine — not too long or short. No break in period needed. I wore them all day the first day. Highly recommend!

The ankle strap is very long offering no stability. Had to return.

Love the style, love the brand. Unfortunately, this particular footbed felt very narrow. I simultaneously bought a pair of Gizeh in 39 which fit great. This shoe, however, felt much more narrow than Gizeh, even though it's a "regular" width. The middle/arch of my foot was hanging over the edge of the shoe. Would work great for you if your foot is narrower.

I like the look of these, and love the footbed, but they weren't as comfortable as I had hoped they would be. Something about the ankle straps and the way they feel when walking just didn't do it for me. I can't imagine walking any distance in them. I usually am an 8.5 - 9, but sized down to a 39, which was still a little large but close to the correct size.

Way too big - will order a size smaller

I am a Birkenstock wearer for 15 years, and was surprised to find this new sassy pair. The ankle strap lends a nice air of flirty femininity and makes them feel very Romanesque. I didn't need any breaking in with them, and recently wore them on a 24 hour travel to Sri Lanka. I get compliments on these Yara all them time. I wear 41 in 3 other types of Birks and these fit perfectly, true to size. I will always own a pair of these. Thanks, Birkenstock, for years of happy and cute feet!

I've always liked Birkenstocks but I wasn't sure about the ankle wrap and if I would like the way it felt. It's loose enough that it doesn't bind and looks really cute!

Love the tobacco leather. Going back because the toe thing doesn’t feel right and the ankle strap is way way too long. Sticking with the Birk Cleo instead. (Birks are too pricy to keep both anyway)

Love these sandals. I don’t feel like I have large ankles, but have to wear these in the very last hole. The good thing is, the leather will stretch some. Super comfortable and cute. A friend actually had to confirm they were birks because “they’ve never had cute styles”. I normally wear a 10 in shoes (10.5 in running shoes), but wear a 40 in birk sandals.

Nice sandal but the ankle strap is extremely long.They run a little large as well.

The sandal was cute and stylish looking, but for practicality reasons it failed my good sandal test. Since the ankle strap is the only walking support combined with the single strip down low by the toe line, the needed pressure on my ankle was constant, with every step, and I could not stand it. To balance it out, the sandal either needs a strap in the middle of the shoe to alleviate the bending pressure, or some kind of back support to replace some pressure on the heel.

My husband surprised me with these shoes after they were hanging out in my favorites forever! From reading the reviews, I was very concerned about sizing. Go with the regular size? Size down? I typically wear between a 7.5 or 8 depending on the brand. All of my Birks are a 38 and fit beautifully. My husband went down a size, since that was what I had favorited, and it really was a mistake. My big toes were hitting the edges as I walked. If anyone knows Birkenstocks, you know that a proper fit is with your bit toe 1/4 inch away from the edge. I exchanged for my usual 38 and they fit perfectly. Take the time to properly break in the ankle straps before wearing and you'll have a really cute, COMFORTABLE summer shoe that goes with everything.

I took a chance on these. I loved how stylish they looked, but read all the reviews which said they ran large. I already own a pair of Arizonas and they fit me perfectly in a 39. I went back and forth trying to decide if I should order my normal 39 or take the advice and go with a 38. (I normally wear an 8.5/9 in most shoes.) I took the chance and ordered the 38, but I was nervous, because $125 is a lot of money for me and I wanted to get the right size first and not have to deal with returns, etc. Catherine, my Zappos representative, emailed me and reassured me that if they didn’t work, I could get the 39s no problem. That really made me feel better about my purchase. My shoes came in and I was surprised and delighted - the 38s, a full size smaller than my Arizonas, fit me perfectly. How can there be such a variation between shoes with an identical foot bed? Baffles me. But in this shoe, I’m glad I ordered down a size and went with the 38. My big toe does touch the edge in these, but I know if I had gone with the 39s there would be way too much of a gap. They are still a bit stiff but I know after a few weeks’ wear they’ll be broken in. They’re already my new favorite shoes. I got them in black because I felt that color would be more versatile. They’re gorgeous. Also, I have rather thin ankles and I have to fasten these on the absolute loosest size so please be aware, you might have to punch another hole in the straps if they’re too tight. They also feel more narrow in the heel than my Arizonas, but not enough to be bothersome. Overall, extremely happy with this purchase!
