So I wear a size 9 usually, sometimes 9.5. Rarely, I need a wide width. I wear a 40 in Dansko and also in Birks; after reading the reviews, I ordered a size down, so, a 39. They fit perfectly until I walked in them, and my toes extended just enough over the footbed to wear the shoe was rubbing on the bottom of them. It was awful. I should have went with my gut and ordered a 40. I measured my foot according to Birks website, and it confirmed 40 was my size. I returned the 39's for the 40's, and they are a perfect fit, so I would caution you in sizing down, and I would also advise you measure according to the Birks site. As for the straps being uncomfortable, I don't agree. Keep in mind when you get up and put your shoes on, you haven't been on your feet all day. Even if you are thin, your feet and ankles still swell, whether visible to your eye or not. Don't strap them down tight, give some room for movement and natural swelling through the day and I think that will solve any comfort problems you may have. This is a lot of money to pay for sandals, yes, but there's a reason people shell it out. These are comfortable and supportive and you don't have to worry about slipping out of them thanks to the ankle strap. Cutest Birks I've owned. I actually bought them last season, but the black was sold out. I saw they were back in stock so I came back to buy them and decided to write a review as well. Hopefully this will be of some help to those of you with comfort/sizing issues.

Love these shoes. Hands down the best sandals I own. I can walk in them all day without foot or leg fatigue. I normally wear a 38 in Dansko, but wear a 37 in Birks.

love the style, but will take some time to work into a totally comfortable sandle, given this kind of shoe does need some break in time, but love these

Seemed too stiff and uncomfortable. Was hoping the ankle strap was thinner, but it's fairly wide. Going back.

Birkenstocks are great always and have not changed too much except for adding new styles. Just got a new pair and whoa!! My usual size was a full inch too long at the toes. Too bad, have to reorder a smaller size. The buckles on the straps seem to land in front of my ankle. I'm hoping the smaller size has shorter straps so they land in the right place. I do have skinny ankles though. Good quality, color of leather is slightly lighter than the picture. 4 stars because I really wanted to wear these right away!

I followed everyone else's advice and got a size smaller. These were my first pair of Birkenstocks, and there wasn't a store around where I live where I could try them on. Based on reviews, I think people are pretty spot on about ordering a size down for these. I'm a size 9 (40 in BirkenSize), so I went for the 39 (which is 8-8.5 US). My feet are nice and cozy in it. I was afraid that the regular width would be too big for my narrow feet, but they hug me perfectly. I think I need to wear them in a bit more for them to get more conformed to my foot shape, and it will take care of some of the stiffness. But overall, the quality is fantastic and the style is awesome.

I love these shoes! They are super stylish and very comfortable. I debated if I should get them or not because of the price, but they are very well made and seem like they will last awhile. I have worn them long distance when walking once and the toe strap rubbed and left a red mark, but this is probably because they were not broken it yet.

My FIRST pair of Birkenstocks! Really liked the style of this pair, as they have a more "feminine" look about them. I've tried a few pairs on over the years and didn't care for the look, but I received many compliments on these the first time I wore them. Also, have a high-arch, so the traditional styles didn't feel right when I tried them on...these fit my arch! Have worn them a couple of times and found they are beginning to stretch, especially around the front/toe area, but that's okay, because they were a little stiff at first and the straps are adjustable to fit better! Have a tendency to blister with loose, "strappy" shoes, so will break them in a little at a time before taking them for an all-day excursion.

I lovek the shoe, but it was a full size too big. I wear an 8.5-9 (ordered 39). Cant wait to exchange it for the correct size.

I love these shoes because of their comfort and style. I love the ankle wrap because I can walk or without worrying about the shoes falling off of my feet. The arch support is great; I can stand in these sandals all day comfortable. The only aspect of these shoes that I don't love is putting them on or taking them off. The ankle buckle is a little stubborn at first. It takes some practice getting the sandals on and off at first. When I originally tried the sandals on I was planning on returning them, because they were difficult to take off/on. After wearing them a couple of days I decided to keep them because I their style, comfort, and overall appeal. The ankle buckle has gotten easier the more I wear the shoes.

I really want to love these, and based on other reviews I thought I would. But the ankle straps rub my skin raw! The fit is perfect, I sized down as other reviewers mentioned to do. I'm aware of the "break in" period for Birkenstocks, but it's just too painful no matter how loose or tight I adjust the ankle straps. I don't think i'll be able to return as I threw the original box away thinking i'd love them. I should have purchased the classic birk style.

I am in LOVE with these sandals, my first pair of Birkenstocks! They are adorable and comfy and so much more. They replaced a pair of sandals I wore to death with a similar style of the wrap around ankle strap. These Birkenstocks, however, are much more well made, and I know will last for quite some time. I would totally buy another pair if they weren't sold out of my size.

These are my favorite Birkenstocks so far! You can dress them up or down. They're weren't so comfortable at first, but once i wore them a couple times and the leather loosen up on the straps they became my favorite go to shoe! I highly recommend these Yaras! And i have 2 gizehs, 3 miyaris and 1 Arizona and these are the only ones i wear whenI'm looking for a sandal to wear!

I love this shoe but the strap would not go around my right ankle and barely went around my left.

As usual the order process was great. I loved the shoes, but they did not fit.They might run large on others,( I ordered a size down, per reviews) but for me I still needed my regular size.

Ordered this shoe twice and both times the shoe loop was defective

I love Birkenstock but this style is very uncomfortable. The straps would pinch my ankle on the front where they overlap when I walk.

This is my 1st pair of Birks! I have a wide foot, and the regular width is just right. I wasn't expecting the foot bed to be hard though, but once you break them in, it's all good. I wear an 8-8.5, so the size 39 was perfect! I can't wait to buy my next pair!

Great quality, cute and casual. They run long, size-wise.
