Travel shoe -
We will be traveling to Italy & wanted a dressier shoe than the regular white...I got the black & the shoe has a dressier look when wearing tan or black pants...An overall dressier & look in a casual atmosphere...Thanks...

Best running shoe.
Great running shoe all around. If unsure of size I suggest going into a store to try one on like I did and that’s how I ended up with the perfect size. Zappos is an awesome company.

Great shoe for narrow feet -
My son is a 13N. So happy to see availability online for this hard-to-fit size. The Asics 2140 is comfortable for him and fits well, even with his narrow foot. Excellent cushioning.

Great pair of shoes, lightning-fast shipping -
The "GT" lineup from ASICS keeps getting better, and the 2140 is no exception. I have owned a pair of "GT" shoes ever since the 2100 model, and they just fit very well for my feet, and I wear them for work, so I'm glad they offer these in black because I can only wear a mostly-black shoe. What makes me happy to buy from Zappos.com is that they consistently upgrade the shipping to "Next Day Air." I ordered these shoes on a Saturday afternoon and received them on Monday morning. Most online merchants charge a premium for anything above "Ground" shipping. Great job!
I'd also recommend:
Any of the Asics GT line from previous years (2100, 2110, 2120, 2130), Asics Kayano line, New Balance, etc.

Great shoes. I previously owned the 2130's and the 2140's are a nice, subtle upgrade. Compared to the newer 2150's, there's not a lot of difference. Not enough for me to pay the extra money. Insoles, like most shoes, are insufficient and need to be replaced.

Nice mid range shoe. Seems to run a little narrow compared to my Asics Evolution. Asics make the best running shoes, and in a big size ... try them out.

I only have about 100 miles on this shoe but it's a solid one throughout. My only complaint about it is the insoles. The generate excessive heat on the foot which different socks and/or vaseline has not allayed. Maybe the problem will subside with more miles but just a heads up.

Fit was quite snug to the point of being too tight right out of the box, but a quick 2 mile run on the treadmill loosened them up nicely and now after several more short runs they're perfectly molded to my feet. I can't say that I've ever had a pair of sneakers of any type that fit so comfortably well. The design and cushioning materials used in these running shoes are simply outstanding in effectiveness for virtually eliminating the shin and knee discomfort I experienced prior to wearing them and my workouts are now much more comfortable overall as a result. However, I'm now noticing some slight hip discomfort during my runs that I didn't before as the impact is apparently absorbed so incredibly well by the Asics GT-2140 shoes in the mid to lower extremities that my hip joints have now become the weakest link in absorbing the shock and its noticeable. Style wise I can't say that these shoes are incredibly attractive, but that's coming from someone who absolutely loves the gorgeous, modern styling of the Nike Shox, but these weren't really purchased for style, but rather increased comfort for workout productivity and they truly deliver that result in a pleasantly comfortable, unsurpassed fashion.

Love these shoes, but they run a half size small. I had a pair of 2090s, size 11.5 that I loved but wore out. When I bought the same size in these, they were clearly a half size to small. Going to 12s worked and they fit perfectly now. Love them, but the size change was a pain in the butt. 4 stars only because of this.

This was my first order with Zappos.com and I was very pleased with the experience. These GT-2140s arrived when expected, were packed well, and were reasonably priced. As for the shoes, I have only put 12 miles on them so far (I normally run 40-50 miles per week), but enjoyed each one. The cushioning and stability provided by the 2140s are abundant for a moderate overpronator like me. I have read that ordering a half size larger than normal is good for runners because your feet swell. As a result, I ordered a size 11 instead of 10.5 and had plenty of room in the toe box. The arch support is more than adequate with this shoe as well. It took a couple miles before the heel became comfortable because of the memory foam used in the heel cup, but they feel great now. This is my first pair of Asics running shoes, but I’m sure there will be many more to come. Lastly, one minor item that I found particularly pleasing: the shoes were pre-laced. The 2140s were ready for a run as soon as I got them from UPS. Hopefully you found my review helpful.

As always with Zappos, the shoes arrived quickly. I have very wide (4E) feet and tried these as a replacement to New Balance (NB) Beast. They are a bit narrower than the NB 4E's but with wear seem to be stretching. They are very comfortable otherwise and seem to offer good support. I have not used them for running yet, so can't comment on what they are like on the road.

I have tried several different running shoes from Nikes, NB and Asics. I have always had better luck with comfort and durability in the Asics. I have a pair of 1120s, when I couldn't find them in my size (16) I bought the 2140s. I am not happy with them. I overpronate when I run and these give me blisters in my right arch when I run. I think the problem is softer material and a different sole on the instep. I have to go back to my worn out 1120s until I find something different. Overall I love Zappos, for a guy who wears size 16 the choices aren't many. Zappos has always been great! I will keep the 2140s to wear around and walk in, but I need a good running shoe.

I bought these as a shoe to help me transition from landing on my heel to landing on my forefoot. I've been using a moderate stability shoe for years (Brooks GTS 9), so I wanted to find a shoe that had a little less stability, but still plenty of cushion, so I could run landing on the heel, or the forefoot. What I found is that these probably offer more stability than I want. Though the amount of cushioning is fine in the heel and forefoot, the heel was a little too bulky for me in my heel impacts, and it felt a little awkward when landing on the forefoot. If you are a heelstriker (your heel lands first when you run), then these may be good for you, since they have a lot of heel cushion. But if you are a forefoot runner or transitioning to it, I wouldn't recommend these. In other aspects these are a quality made and nice looking shoe, so I'm using them for daily wear.

The Shoe fits, .5 size over true size. But once you know this, the fit is actually just what the Doctor ordered. So, if 11.5, go for 12.0. I have purchased the shoe or the earlier generations starting with 2100 and always been happy for the shoe. Arch is nice, heel is just right, good stability for bad knees and hip. Wish the price would come down a bit, these are regular shoes. Come on. But for comfort, go for it, get a pair.

Great shoes for support. Helps me with my severe pronation. Comfort is simply awesome. I wish I could find a dress shoe that felt as good. Only negative I have would be in the use of nylon throughout the toe area. With plenty of sole and tread remaining, the nylon will age and fatigue. It may tear, causing holes for toe exposure. In spite of that design weakness, these are great shoes.

Great Shoe -
Gets a little hot when running during the daytime, but other than that, they are very comfortable. The GEL system really works well.

Son Loves them -
My son needed a training shoe for track. This fits the bill good training shoe light enough for serious running but stable enough for joint and arch protection. He thinks they look cool to so it is a win win.

These are made from inferior materials. The mesh upper-toe and little toe areas poked holes within a few months otherwise these are only three star shoes.

As a long time buyer of the Asics GT 20XX series, I was disappointed in the fit of the 2140. I much preferred the 2130, more support and not as narrow.

Middle of the road, though well crafted. While I'd heard that Asics were a very comfortable shoe I'm a bit torn on these with them being my first pair of Asics Gel shoes. For one, the fit lengthwise is about perfect but in comparison to my prior New Balance (927) walking shoes, the GT-2140's are quite a bit narrower despite being 4E width. Beyond that, the gel cushioning is not as impressive as I thought it would be. Not that New Balance, IMHO, is great with regards to cushioning but I was hoping that the technologies involved in the Asics would be far superior and it still feels relatively similar. As someone that has worn Nike Air and Reebok (DMX and Hexalite respectively) gym shoes in the past, I feel their cushioning systems are far better at absorbing impacts and are more comfortable for longer periods of time. As someone that's on my feet, I work in a grammar school, has fleet feet, and is getting older, and heavier, so is dealing with more aches and pains, such cushioning is becoming more and more important in dealing with heel, back, and knee pain and fatigue. It's just a shame that neither Reebok nor Nike put as much emphasis into the "wider foot" crowd as Asics, Propet, and New Balance are apt to. While their cushioning systems work great it's often nigh on difficult to find pairs of their shoes that fit properly without compromising significantly in one area or another (i.e. getting a 9-9.5 when you wear an 8.5 to compromise for the lack of width). New Balance has the sizing about perfect, the 927's fit perfect from the minute I had them, if only the cushioning in their walking shoes wasn't so weak. I could've sent them back for a size larger but I figured with them being a fabric shoe, the break-in would help and it has, to a degree, even though the footbed still feels quite a bit snug for 4E width. I don't know that exchanging the 8.5/4E for a 9 length, 4E width would help anyhow. Zappos did a great job with sending me the correct product and it came very timely, in fact, shocked me with how quickly it did manage to arrive. I would be very happy to order from them again.

I found the fit of this model to be a bit odd. When trying on my normal shoe size, my toes where crunched, so I tried a half size bigger, and the width was too wide and my foot was moving all over the place. I ordered a pair a half size too big and narrow expecting it to solve my problems with the fit. I found that the narrow was a little more snug in the heel, but still too wide in the front. I'm still wearing them and they are just okay, but I wouldn't buy these again, or recommend them.
