Very comfortable boot, even out of the box. Toe box is wide so you have room for heavy socks. Good ankle support and a very nice height on the heel. I have arthritis in the sides of my feet and finding a comfortable work boot anymore is damn near impossible. I wear it all day in a farm & ranch environment and it has been excellent. Will buy this boot again. I wish they would make it in a brown as well as a "duty black", but then again, who cares if it's comfortable!?

Brought these boots for my husband who works in Law Enforcement. He loves them, very comfy looks heavy but are very light. The boots also provides great ankle support.

These are quality shoes. They are serving their purpose! True to size. I love 'em. Highly recommended.

I am female and wear a size W shoe or boot, which isn't easy to find.I also have foot problems. I often buy men's shoes or boots, especially for work. I work outside and wanted a boot for spring/fall weather that is comfortable. These are very comfortable, the only problem I had was the padding around the ankle rubbed on my leg and was uncomfortable. Not sure what I will do about that. I also like that these didn't have too much arch support, which I can't handle. Except for the ankle part, they are very comfortable.

These are amazing boots. They are lightweight, comfortable and look fantastic. I wished I had purchased a pair months ago instead of trying other brands. I will definitely be buying more Bates. Great stuff.

I would like to say that after looking everywhere but space, this is the best boot I have encountered. I even added an extra inner sole and I still had plenty of room and of course cushy comfort. I work in the transit field in a major city and I do a lot of walking and I must say this boot is by far the best for any major city bus operator. I highly recommend it. Thank you Zappos.

The ultimate in a duty boot. Comfortable to wear all day. Wide aggressive footprint provides a solid footing on any surface. I would recommended these to any EMS, law enforcement personnel.

Amazing boot. After trying many tactical boots, this one was the best. Great fit, good traction and for the price it's a plus having the Goretex membrane for waterproofing.

Great boots I use them for work. Very comfortable since I am on my feet for 8+ a day and they look great. Really are amazing when I have to run in them, they feel better than my running shoes!

Very cute, but not the right height. They hit just at my calf and make my legs look a bit stumpy (I'm 5'8). Very comfortable though, and the cognac is a nice color.

These boots are precisely as described and very reasonably priced as well. The leather is subtle making them very comfortable right out of the box and they should be perfect for the purpose intended. I’m very pleased with this purchase but I continue to be impressed with the incredible customer service Zappos provides.

This boot is extremely comfortable right out of the box ! I ordered a 10 2E. Perfect fit. I normally wear new boots for about an hour at a time for the first few days to break them in. Not with this boot. I put it on, started walking around and just left them on for the rest of the day. Very good support. I wore Bates boots for 26 years in LE and they were always my go to boot. Now that I am retired, I still like the look and feel of quality footwear. I think you will like them. JJP

These are so comfy, the moment i put them on i was so excited to go to work. These shoes look amazing i just have zero complains about this product. zappos is the best

When SFC discontinued my preferred style for the second time, it was time to move on. I searched for days, found these and just took a chance. As a mechanic, I need a soft toe that's really comfortable and this is it. Great fit and the heel is easy to clean. The only negative would be that the lace needs to be remove from the "hook" at the top every time they are removed. I'm willing to spend the extra ten seconds a day though. I will buy a spare pair just in case these are discontinued.

Most awesome boot I've ever worn. No break in period. I have bunions and usually have to stretch my shoes in order to wear, these wore all day with no pain or problems!

I agree with Michael S. from PA regarding Bates Footwear Tactical Sport boot. It is awesome! I too work for the New York City Transit, and many of the guys I work with complain about how they can't find comfortable work boots. It would be nice if Zappos could put in a bid to become a supplier for the NYCTA! I thank you and my feet thank you!

I ordered a wide boot, but was sent a medium, which seemed to work out OK. Planning to wear thicker socks with these boots, but I guess sizing up a half size took care of the width situation. There is no arch support, but the insole is soft and sneaker-like and I don't miss the arch support. Comfortable for an over-the ankle boot. Might take a little breaking in, but off to a good start.

I still wear them! They're comfortable and add stature.

This was an excellent boot for the price point! Seemed well constructed, not overly wide and decent support. Excellent delivery. Now if only prime delivered like Zappos ;) You will DEFINITELY need some additional arch supports in these bad boys if you're going to be on your feet for 12 hours or more. Had to return, not regulation for our firehouse. But overall, quality boot.
